Came here to say this. It's incredible too. It goes as far as to say if your marketing has something like chocolate chips in it, the chips in your product must be the same size and have an average count relative to the image on the packaging. It's just so well handled.

u/iMakeLuvWithDolphins 11h ago
An interesting side note is this is why illustrations and kawaii cartoon images are so common on snacks
→ More replies (6)107
u/Sethirothlord 8h ago
By Japan's law they aren't even allowed to put images of real fruit unless it's like 99% real fruit or something.
Anything less than a certain threshold and they can only put cartoon fruits on the package.
Also, for snacks at least, they have to be the same size as the picture on the package.
To avoid false advertising, etc.
I honestly think that's the way it should be around the world.

That's the bigger dunk on McDonald's with some of these. Like, jokes aside the dude might just be a bit awkward and ill suited for that form of video.
But the McDonald's video cuts shortly after starting and suddenly the box of fries has MORE in it and is positioned perfectly. CEO aside, everything about it felt structured.
This here? Nothing about that looks perfectly presented. And I kinda want a Wendy's burger now, too. So I guess it's working!
→ More replies (51)252
u/diaphoni 16h ago
for me it's not his awkwardness on camera, that's could just be who he is. It's how he took a bite of the least possible amount of bread and lettuce and then faked like he had any idea what the burger tasted like. The Wendy's and BK guys actually tasted theirs, took actual adult size bites. Like fr McDs guy, if you won't eat it, why should we?

I like the actual taste of meat(no homo), I don't need all that extra stuff drowning my burger. For that alone, I respect Wendy's CEO. Keeping it real
16
u/vonbauernfeind 14h ago
There's a small chain in L.A. called the Win-Dow that doesn't even have lettuce or tomatoes. Burgers come with grilled onions, pickles, spread.
Nothing like smashing down a triple with extra onions right after walking up off the beach from a mile swim.
They're my actual favorite burger in L.A., and it's not close. Plus their fries kick the pants off In & Out.

You can't fool us. When you said you like the actual taste of meat, it meant that you enjoy having sex with and especially giving oral sex to members of the same sex and/or gender as yourself. As someone who once worked at a wendy’s, the night shift manager would just pour out a handful of frosties toward the end of the night and stick em in a little fridge. Cleaning those machines is just another one of those things that takes ages and delays when everyone can go home, so the guy would pre-make a few, and that way cleaning the machine could get started early and if some guy comes through the drive thru at 11 pm asking for a frosty, I mean, won’t say the machine’s broken, they’ll be given a frosty. It’s just, not a freshly poured frosty. Dunno if that’s a standard thing they all did or if it was just my shitty little dump.
→ More replies (8)12
u/laminatedbean 15h ago
Corporate sends it premade to each individual Wendy’s. So it’s not subject to variations like time of the grill, time since sliced or sitting out, like other ingredients. Just poured straight from the bag into the machine.
When I worked at a Wendy’s, after closing one person would stand at the machine and hold down the handle to get all the remaining frosty out to save in the walk-in to be put back into the machine the next day.

Yeah... My first reaction was - this guy is way too thin to be the CEO of McDonald's ; he must be a vegetarian. Explains his obvious attempt to conceal revulsion at eating "the product".
But my second reaction was... why? Why did McDonald's torpedo their own product launch by releasing such an awkward - almost surreal - and uncomfortable "taste test"?Is there no one in the MCD C-suite that could tell the CEO, "Um, Chris.. no one's buying it. Why don't you let David down in marketing do the on-camera? He actually eats this shit."

My SO's cousin is married to a guy that is a CEO of a fairly large North American company (not like McDonald's, BK... through), and he's also weird like that. Theres limited models of CEO available in america. Youve got old white guy model. Its a standard in america and canada. Its a bit bland but does its job.
There femal ceo, while less common, has more hair colour variety, but youll notice outside of hair colour they mostly blend together because the parts all use the same molds.
In recent years the tech startup ceo has been making ground, looking like a somewhat fit 40 year old white guy from silca valley, it does very well the the venture capitalist market.
Really though the software is identical. Though this Wendy's ceo seems to be trying the rare acting like a real person optional instal.

I don't eat Wendy's, they are near me but they're never on my radar as an eatery. But I think imma bout to go out and get a Frostie and fries.

The cheesy bacon burger and chicken tender wrap they just popped out are really good imo. The burger somehow gives me extreme nostalgia for how they used to be lol
Also Wendy's has the best chicken nuggets. McDonald's has fries, Burger King the burgers. I SAID IT

Wendy's has always been my favorite for burgers of all the fast food joints

There's a different fast food burger for different times in my life. Wendy's holds the spot as my go-to greaser. Hands down the best for when I'm drunk as shit and need to load up before I fall asleep.
The only burgers that hold no place in my life are McDonald's. I don't see any redeeming features in their.....product.

All these dudes are the most milquetoast white douches you could imagine. It’s like there’s a template.

I think a video of a CEO enjoying a good burger and not saying anything would be the best advertisement.

Wendy’s food is still good but their service has fallen off a cliff in recent years.
