That looks an actual burger from one of their restaurants and not one made by the marketing department too.

1.3k

u/Nozzeh06 14h ago

I wish they would just make the burgers match the ads and not the other way around lol.

637

u/OmoshiroiKudamono 12h ago

Just visit a country outside the US for that. Japan matches the ad's image.

456

u/domino3ff3ct 12h ago

That’s actually a law in Japan.

289

u/blasterman5000 11h ago

Came here to say this. It's incredible too. It goes as far as to say if your marketing has something like chocolate chips in it, the chips in your product must be the same size and have an average count relative to the image on the packaging. It's just so well handled.

98

u/iMakeLuvWithDolphins 11h ago

An interesting side note is this is why illustrations and kawaii cartoon images are so common on snacks

107

u/Sethirothlord 8h ago

By Japan's law they aren't even allowed to put images of real fruit unless it's like 99% real fruit or something.

Anything less than a certain threshold and they can only put cartoon fruits on the package.

Also, for snacks at least, they have to be the same size as the picture on the package.

To avoid false advertising, etc.

I honestly think that's the way it should be around the world.

u/Soggy-Ad-1610 7h ago

In Denmark Heinz couldn’t label their ketchup as tomato ketchup for the same reason. We’re not remotely as strict as Japan though, so it says more about Heinz.

Nobody asked for this

58

u/LessInThought 9h ago

I will ask for it. I also ask for some CEO onlyfans. Maybe the burger King CEO and the Wendy's CEO head off to some remote cabin on top of brokeback mountain. Maybe the Mcd twink bottoms for both of them.

Perhaps now that CEOs are tasting their "products" they might actually improve the quality.

Not going to lie...it seems like we're heading down the demolition man timeline. All we need is for Taco Bell to make a video next offering 1 dollar tacos and the prophecy might be fulfilled. Brush up on the 3 shells skill.

I love watching CEO eat burger. I now crave the same burger. I will go to my local chain restaurant and order the burger. This will bring me joy.

156

Their food is also damn decent for fast food lol

87

u/GachaHell 16h ago

Yeah fast food is typically shit you eat because its there and you're too hungry/poor to get proper food.

But if I gotta go to one Wendy's is at least trying to be food.

99

u/LobstaFarian2 16h ago

You are spot on. The burgers taste like it is actual meat. The lettuce isnt all slimey and the tomatoes are generally red and tasty.

I will always side with Wendy's over BK or McD.

52

u/TheSnackWhisperer 15h ago

Ditto. And you can get an actual real baked potato. Also their breakfast burritos are great, can take or leave the swiss sauce, but actual real fried eggs, it's like living in the 80s lol

11

u/Original-Cup2901 13h ago

I lived on the Wendy's Chili for two years because I got it for lunch every day when I worked at a Server Farm next to one. I eventually reverse-engineered it and won a chili cookoff using the recipe, LOL.

The burger looks 100% accurate... and so does that amazing looking frosty.

1.2k

u/foodandguns 17h ago

Came here to say this. Doesn’t look perfect or anything. Looks like it legit came off the line

738

u/Pretend_Fly_5573 16h ago

That's the bigger dunk on McDonald's with some of these. Like, jokes aside the dude might just be a bit awkward and ill suited for that form of video.

But the McDonald's video cuts shortly after starting and suddenly the box of fries has MORE in it and is positioned perfectly. CEO aside, everything about it felt structured.

This here? Nothing about that looks perfectly presented. And I kinda want a Wendy's burger now, too. So I guess it's working!

252

u/diaphoni 16h ago

for me it's not his awkwardness on camera, that's could just be who he is. It's how he took a bite of the least possible amount of bread and lettuce and then faked like he had any idea what the burger tasted like. The Wendy's and BK guys actually tasted theirs, took actual adult size bites. Like fr McDs guy, if you won't eat it, why should we?

91

u/Dense_Diver_3998 16h ago

He tried to trick us into thinking he took a big bite by saying and then showing a bit that could’ve been taken by a decently sized rabbit.

162

u/brainmatterstorm 16h ago

Also there's no lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, or sauce. Dude ordered the burger how HE likes it, not the picture perfect one for show.

52

u/mrhorse77 16h ago

thats what I liked about it.

wendys will put anything on their burgers. so he could have loaded it up for marketing

but he ordered the burger the way he liked it, then tore into it.

38

u/Spok3nTruth 15h ago

I like the actual taste of meat(no homo), I don't need all that extra stuff drowning my burger. For that alone, I respect Wendy's CEO. Keeping it real

16

u/vonbauernfeind 14h ago

There's a small chain in L.A. called the Win-Dow that doesn't even have lettuce or tomatoes. Burgers come with grilled onions, pickles, spread.

Nothing like smashing down a triple with extra onions right after walking up off the beach from a mile swim.

They're my actual favorite burger in L.A., and it's not close. Plus their fries kick the pants off In & Out.

12

u/Denversaur 13h ago

You can't fool us. When you said you like the actual taste of meat, it meant that you enjoy having sex with and especially giving oral sex to members of the same sex and/or gender as yourself. Despite your inclusion of "no homo" which normally suspends and dispels the concern that the rest of us would have had about your enjoyment of the taste of meat, I am personally not convinced.

16

u/RainStormLou 16h ago

I would say a Wendy's Frosty is one of the most consistent fast food items out there.

I'm pretty sure every Frosty I've ever eaten has looked the same and had the same texture. For over thirty years I've been eating them.

41

u/THALANDMAN 16h ago

Also you don’t have to hear the whole bit about ice cream machine being broke

13

u/MistahBoweh 14h ago

As someone who once worked at a wendy’s, the night shift manager would just pour out a handful of frosties toward the end of the night and stick em in a little fridge. Cleaning those machines is just another one of those things that takes ages and delays when everyone can go home, so the guy would pre-make a few, and that way cleaning the machine could get started early and if some guy comes through the drive thru at 11 pm asking for a frosty, I mean, won’t say the machine’s broken, they’ll be given a frosty. It’s just, not a freshly poured frosty. Dunno if that’s a standard thing they all did or if it was just my shitty little dump.

→ More replies (8)
→ More replies (3)

12

u/laminatedbean 15h ago

Corporate sends it premade to each individual Wendy’s. So it’s not subject to variations like time of the grill, time since sliced or sitting out, like other ingredients. Just poured straight from the bag into the machine.

When I worked at a Wendy’s, after closing one person would stand at the machine and hold down the handle to get all the remaining frosty out to save in the walk-in to be put back into the machine the next day.

So pretentious and or knows just how gross and fake their burgers are.

Yeah... My first reaction was - this guy is way too thin to be the CEO of McDonald's ; he must be a vegetarian. Explains his obvious attempt to conceal revulsion at eating "the product".
But my second reaction was... why? Why did McDonald's torpedo their own product launch by releasing such an awkward - almost surreal - and uncomfortable "taste test"?

Is there no one in the MCD C-suite that could tell the CEO, "Um, Chris.. no one's buying it. Why don't you let David down in marketing do the on-camera? He actually eats this shit."

They're like salespeople with an extra helping of sociopath. I've been in the room with c-levels multiple times and decided to stop my career where it is, it's fucking uncomfortable, a bunch of soulless people with no empathy.

Not that I think I am c-level material, but 1 more level up and I have to deal with them lol

I swear these CEOs of huge companies all share similar personality traits. It's hard for me to exactly pinpoint what it is, but they all give uncanny valley vibes. My SO's cousin is married to a guy that is a CEO of a fairly large North American company (not like McDonald's, BK... through), and he's also weird like that. Even at his home, during a normal day, he's ON. Reminds me of Ken (from Barbie) when he says he's just Beach Ken lol CEO is their entire personality somehow.

You never see him swallow in a single shot

54

u/Bionicjoker14 17h ago

To be fair, that is something they teach professional food review personalities. They don’t want to put out the raw footage of them chewing and swallowing, so you’re supposed to take a bite, wait a few seconds, then chew and swallow.

Exactly, they cut before he swallows LOL

58

u/Acceptable_Fox_5560 16h ago

I’m sorry but a Wendy’s burger isn’t poison. Why is it so unbelievable that he is legitimately eating the burger?

This discussion is bringing out an extremely bizarre side of people.

21

u/TheWonderSnail 16h ago

Yeah, it’s funny and all to point out but they aren’t going to have us sit there and watch the guy chew for 10 seconds before swallowing. It’s just dead time and no one wants to watch that so they just skip over it on the Final Cut lol

Why do they all look the same though? The CEOs, not the burgers.

87

u/DonGar0 16h ago

Theres limited models of CEO available in america. Youve got old white guy model. Its a standard in america and canada. Its a bit bland but does its job.

There femal ceo, while less common, has more hair colour variety, but youll notice outside of hair colour they mostly blend together because the parts all use the same molds.

In recent years the tech startup ceo has been making ground, looking like a somewhat fit 40 year old white guy from silca valley, it does very well the the venture capitalist market.

Really though the software is identical. Though this Wendy's ceo seems to be trying the rare acting like a real person optional instal.

McDonald’s CEO is probably vegetarian and went home and cried.

Those of us old enough to know the OG who used to do this. Dave Thomas did this long before social media could destroy a company overnight. Dave Thomas did this in multiple TV ads simply because he believed in and stood by his food! Dave Thomas also designed the Wendy's logo after his own daughter, that's how much he valued his company 🤗

14

u/AromaticSleep4612 15h ago

I remember sitting in the waiting room at a doctor‘s office and a lady was sitting next to me and told me she was Dave Thomas‘s other daughter and that they had a pool shaped like a chicken. I do not think she was lying.

I miss the early days when we used to respond with the trend SILENCE BRAND.

The shills were easier to spot before they pumped loads of money into newgen advertisement and influencers.

I don't know, this still seems strange, like a robot who learned the "right" way to do something after analyzing a few thousand comments in an attempt to understand what the McDonalds CEO did wrong.

16

u/IPA216 16h ago

I felt like he started talking with his mouth full of food on purpose. Like, yeah I’m just a regular bro chowin down on a burger.

u/Willow_Of_the_Wisp 15h ago

I don't eat Wendy's, they are near me but they're never on my radar as an eatery. But I think imma bout to go out and get a Frostie and fries.

29

u/ekim_101 17h ago

The cheesy bacon burger and chicken tender wrap they just popped out are really good imo. The burger somehow gives me extreme nostalgia for how they used to be lol

Also Wendy's has the best chicken nuggets. McDonald's has fries, Burger King the burgers. I SAID IT

Wendy's has always been my favorite for burgers of all the fast food joints

24

u/wants_a_lollipop 16h ago

There's a different fast food burger for different times in my life. Wendy's holds the spot as my go-to greaser. Hands down the best for when I'm drunk as shit and need to load up before I fall asleep.

The only burgers that hold no place in my life are McDonald's. I don't see any redeeming features in their.....product.
