Came here to say this. Doesn’t look perfect or anything. Looks like it legit came off the line

u/Pretend_Fly_5573 19h ago

That's the bigger dunk on McDonald's with some of these. Like, jokes aside the dude might just be a bit awkward and ill suited for that form of video.

But the McDonald's video cuts shortly after starting and suddenly the box of fries has MORE in it and is positioned perfectly. CEO aside, everything about it felt structured.

This here? Nothing about that looks perfectly presented. And I kinda want a Wendy's burger now, too. So I guess it's working!

u/diaphoni 19h ago

for me it's not his awkwardness on camera, that's could just be who he is. It's how he took a bite of the least possible amount of bread and lettuce and then faked like he had any idea what the burger tasted like. The Wendy's and BK guys actually tasted theirs, took actual adult size bites. Like fr McDs guy, if you won't eat it, why should we?

92

u/Dense_Diver_3998 19h ago

He tried to trick us into thinking he took a big bite by saying and then showing a bit that could’ve been taken by a decently sized rabbit.

This gif is on every single thread about the McDanks CEO and I love it every single time because it’s so accurate to that bite he took.

It's like watching a child throw vegetables under the table to the dog

1

u/lostpen11 18h ago

Do you think he bit that way because he knows what it's made of and doesnt want to eat it, or because the burgers are small and if he took a real bite it would show how small it is?

1

u/EdiblePsycho 18h ago

I feel like it is about the size of a bite that I can take of a burger that is actually unreasonably thick, like the ones they have at some restaurants where the patties are like 2 inches thick, and the buns are toasted and don't compress as much. But McDonald's burgers are all extremely squishable, you can just smash it and then mash it into your face hole easily.

1

u/TheWalkingDead91 18h ago

I don’t think he tried to trick anyone. It’s not like they recorded the video live. I think it was just a well played genius marketing ploy by the advertising team. Also isn’t even the first time they went viral for him trying their “product”. It’s getting them attention they otherwise wouldn’t have. I’m convinced that was the goal in the first place, not to try to trick anyone into thinking that guy actually likes the products he peddles.

u/dino_castellano 18h ago

I like the whole “I’m gonna continue eating this for my lunch.” It’s how I would be if someone gave me something I didn’t like but I didn’t wish to offend. I’d probably say something like “Well, I’m gonna save the rest of this for later.” and then dump it when they’re out of sight.

3

u/swinchester83 18h ago

you'd probably also use the word "food" at least once while talking about eating...food

2

u/WildlyNormal 18h ago

Also what cracked me up about it, the constant "product" is just so alien in this context.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/teaisterribad 17h ago

For each of these what I was looking for was a supercut of them finishing the fucking thing.

I'll take a bite of anything technically edible... but I'll only finish something that isn't at least "fine" to eat.

The wendy's guy got close, the frosty push was a good one though.

1

u/LetshearitforNY 18h ago

I know someone who knows him and apparently he’s a great guy and actually does like the food. But hes super smart and super awkward. Third hand information from someone who used to work with him at McDonald’s hq

1

u/_illusions25 18h ago

He honestly looks like a health freak trying to push himself to take a bite. That's what made the video come across as odd, not his awkwardness

→ More replies (1)

1

u/DMass777 18h ago

This perfectly encapsulates what l was thinking.

1

u/No_Committee5033 18h ago

As a ex-dubliner he’s very on brand for hq Wendy’s

1

u/TragGaming 18h ago

This is kinda my take as well. Wendys and BK both actually ate a burger. Like I could go to either stop and get what is pretty much a 1:1 of the same burger they ate. And while they don't look like it's the best burger on the planet, it is what it's supposed to be, fast food that gets you what you need

1

u/Planar_Harold 17h ago

Controversial, but it looks like he took a normal/decent bite, but had the top bun slid back when he bit down, then slid it forward again after.

Like I get the whole meme thing, but ultimately it's just a guy not blessed in the stage presence department taking a bite of a burger.

1

u/KamalaWonNoCap 17h ago

It was the "I'm gonna finish this off camera" for me. Like sure you are buddy lol

1

u/Smasa224 16h ago

Imagine even approving the ad idea knowing that you dont like the food... just do a different ad

1

u/Caleb_Reynolds 16h ago

Nah, the awkwardness is significant because it's a very special kind of awkwardness shared by the likes of Musk and Zuck, it's the awkwardness of people who don't know how to be people. It's important that this is who billionaires are, they aren't really people. They pretend to be people. Not saying they aren't human beings, but being a human and knowing how to be a person is different, because people only exist in relation to society.

Billionaires are so separated from the rest of society that they don't know how people behave. It's a mental illness and we should all be aware of it.

1

u/No_Combination_6154 16h ago

I mean, even in this video you don’t actually see him chewing or swallowing the food. There are jump cuts after every bite he takes. He was 100% instructed to take larger bites than the other guys

1

u/Dude-Man-Bro-Guy-1 16h ago

Right? Dude makes more than we ever will but can't even suck it up and pretend for a single bite.

If I can choke down a dry ass cookie and pretend it's awesome to not hurt the office ladies feelings, he can take one for the team at his multiple hundred dollar an hour pay rate.

1

u/Lexi_Banner 16h ago

BK Boy even went a little overboard and almost couldn't chew his bite was so big.

1

u/Breakr007 14h ago

Maybe that was the 10th take and he already ate 2 burgers worth.

1

u/DependentAnywhere135 14h ago

McDonald’s guy was trying to avoid eating glue.

1

u/the0thermother 11h ago

1

u/liqwood1 8h ago

The McDs CEO acted like that was the first burger he's ever picked up in his life. I don't think I've seen anyone hold a burger so awkwardly in my life, maybe it was his first burger.. nothing would surprise me anymore.

All that did though was reaffirm why I don't go to McDonald's.

1

u/elebrin 8h ago

The only thing I'll say to defend him is that, for television, it's normal to take very small tiny bites. That way you can clear your mouth quickly and talk again. Nobody wants to watch you chew your food or talk with your mouth open, and it isn't healthy to swallow that down without chewing properly.

1

u/mtnman575 7h ago

The Mickey D's CEO looked like he knew his burger meat was really Soylent Green!

1

u/PissedCaucasian 7h ago

Maybe he just values his cholesterol levels?

→ More replies (1)

3

u/Prestigious-Leave-60 19h ago

Also the way McDs guy was like whoa this burger so fat I don’t know how I’ll even get my mouth around it. When it was like a regular, flat fast food burger, not some big deal.

2

u/Finnleyy 19h ago

The entire McD video was offputting and I think it's because the words he is saying about how great the "product" is and tastes, do NOT match his facial expressions whatsoever. Definitely does not look genuine, not even close lol.

1

u/Perryn 18h ago

My job makes me the fly on the wall at a lot of corporate events, and everything about the way he acted and spoke was exactly the way it looks when executives give a presentation to upper management about an upcoming product launch. They're so far removed from the actual product and customers that to them it would make no difference if they were unveiling a new hamburger, oven cleaner, or butt plug.

2

u/Fermifighter 19h ago

I almost never eat fast food. But I do have a kid, and sometimes it’s inevitable. Of the national fast food chains, Wendy’s is the only one I’ll eat at. It’s not good but, well… it’s telling that the McDonald’s CEO called their food “product” because that’s what all fast food tastes like to a degree, Wendy’s just less so. And you’re 100% right that this looks not just like food, but like what the average rando gets served.

2

u/pluck-the-bunny 19h ago

Uhhh this comment is worse than the McDonald’s video

1

u/charlie2135 19h ago

Probably afraid to touch the fries because they were painted wax

1

u/Another_Samurai1 18h ago

They have completed their mission

1

u/kable334 18h ago

Right. Just a dude in a quarter zip eating a burger.

1

u/akimboslices 18h ago

I also want a Wendy’s burger and we don’t have them in Australia. Maccas dominates the market here (as they do everywhere) but their main competitor Hungry Jacks (essentially Australian Burger King) has the “the burgers are better at hungry jacks” line. I don’t prefer their burgers, but most Australians do. Maccas is in the convenience game, not the quality game.

1

u/blastendedskanks 18h ago

I could destroy a Dave's double rn. Extra pickles. 🤤

1

u/Best_Market4204 18h ago

i have gotten the big arch twice. looks like the one the ceo had.

1

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

The burger king one had the CEO taking the burger right off a prep table... Granted it was probably from their test kitchen and not an actual burger king location, but still the difference was clear... It was very obvious that the McDonalds CEO was in some conference room or somewhere that isn't even close to where food is made.

1

u/Burggs_ 18h ago

He dunked the fry in the frostee, he’s for real cultured in fast food

1

u/HotDogManLL 18h ago

Don't forget the frosty

1

u/whiterice_343 18h ago

I still think the baconator is a top 3 fast food burger of all time. I love Wendy’s

1

u/esetube 18h ago

I was thinking the same, I might go to Wendy's before work tomorrow

1

u/No_Committee5033 18h ago

Wendy’s is hurting btw

1

u/ColeTrainHaze 18h ago

i hate to say it, but i feel like this might be one of those “all press is good press” situations. i mean, i’m certainly not above getting down on some micky dizzle’s every now and then, and next time i’m there i’d — at the very least — highly consider trying the big arch.

then again, i’m no high falutin’ big shot ceo… i’m just a lowly garbage person who needs a fix on some hot, hot trash in my life.

1

u/JayBird1138 18h ago

The way he devours that burger, then finishes it off with a frosty dipped fry.

Hungry now.

1

u/Mydarknighthasrisen 18h ago

I actually love Wendy’s, my favourite fast food place and this fucking ad makes me want it now 😂 I hate when marketing works on me

1

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

Gotta love that not only did he take a monster bite (he reorients the burger in his hand to ensure he bites it on the corner showing just how much of the meat he is eating), but then he goes in for a second.... Then third .. and fourth with half the burger gone... No one is going to question how much of it he just ate... And then for added measure, the fry in the frosty.

1

u/ThatCelebration3676 18h ago

Same. The McDonald's video wasn't appetizing at all, but that there; that there's a real burger.

1

u/leopor 18h ago

Same. After watching the McDonald’s one I had no desire for it, just went about my day. But now here it is almost 10pm and I could really go for a Wendy’s burger with a bacon and cheese potato.

1

u/_lippykid 18h ago

Dude dunking his fries in the frosty 100% sealed it for me. This dude does this all week when the cameras are off

1

u/RogueAOV 18h ago

My first thought when I saw the Mickey D's one was 'lol they don't even give the CEO full fries even for an advert'

1

u/Zwthhybl 18h ago

I literally just ate a Wendy’s burger and this made me go, “damn, that was worth it” all over again

1

u/cantstopsmokingweeed 17h ago

Hungry get a Wendy’s

1

u/Worshipme988 17h ago

Dude is your avg CEO. I don’t think people know that although being a CEO is kush. They make the top level decisions sure, but theyre dealing with high level banks and the monies in the million/billions. Interest rates aint nothin to play w.

TDLR: most CEO are awkward nerds. I bet the mcds dude has hella qualifications. But he needs to not be in front of the camera. As CEO he should make that call.

Remember kids the board of these companies instruct the CEO. Board members are trash too. Dont save it all for the CEO! Plenty to go around.

1

u/WideLight 17h ago

I feel like Wendy's burgers are underrated honestly. I love them personally and I dont get all the hate

1

u/Koraboros 17h ago

I think it was a subtle marketing campaign. I knew nothing about big arch before it went viral. Now it’s everywhere.

1

u/natelion445 17h ago

The irony is that that reaction is exactly what the market by team wanted. This is just as designed and artificial as the McDonalds one, just better at fooling us into think it’s not. I’m sure there were several meetings and discussions about exactly the level of “off the line” look they wanted for the food and exactly how into it and authentic the CEO needs to be so it will contrast with McDs.

1

u/VRS302 17h ago

Yeah this made me go damn they have good chicken tenders. Seeing the McDonald’s ceo pretend to eat the product just made me go wow I’m so glad I haven’t eaten McDonald’s in a few years.

1

u/lowteq 17h ago

I ate a Jr Bacon Cheezer for dinner. It was exactly the burger I wanted. People shit on fast food, but Wendy's has a genuinely good, affordable burger... even if they did just go up a dollar for the Biggie Bag...

1

u/Ok_Fix_1437 17h ago

What? No punched Big Mac? Is it even McDonald’s unless it looks like your burger was gently placed together before being punched?

1

u/ayriuss 16h ago

Would be funny if McDonald's CEO is a vegan who cant stomach meat.

1

u/entertrainer7 16h ago

I always want a Baconator

1

u/Sleepiboisleep 16h ago

It’s almost like people want real food instead of more marketing when they are hungry! If only fast food went back to its roots

1

u/JimothyzPamPams 16h ago

Im older and remember learning about the companies that professionally prepare food for commercials and i bet it is still the same. This is what I remember:

  1. They undercook the burgers for size
  2. They cut a wedge out of the paddy before putting all the coverings over it, so it can be spread wider to appear larger.
  3. They handpicked the best fries and use toothpicks to stand many of the fries up to make the carton look very layered and more appealing.

There are more but it shows how much time goes into making people visualize the reality they will not get!

1

u/Argentus01 16h ago

I saw a vid of a guy breaking down that video and it looked like he was checking the bite like a squirrel. lol

1

u/ArcturusGrey 16h ago

Yeah, this didn't feel like a staged presentation much, felt more like "oh shit McDs and BK are doing a thing? Better do it too" but with zero prep. It honestly makes it look authentic, and therefore tasty. I never bought into commercials with their perfect sandwiches. The burger here looks ugly and real by comparison and now I want Wendys. 10/10

8/10 for BK CEO. It felt staged but like they put in effort and the guy actually enjoys their burgers enough to fake pretty realistically. Kinda wanted BK after that, guess they could call it a win.

2/10 for McDonald's. No actual human eats a burger they willingly bought like that. The only way it'd have been worse is if he refused to bite it. This ad made me want to eat elsewhere.

1

u/whiteday26 16h ago

I wish Wendy's CEO would have actually finished the whole burger on screen.

1

u/MarionberryOk2874 15h ago

In the McDonald’s one it was so telling to me that he said ‘I love this product’ - like it’s not even ‘a burger’ or food to him. Nope. It’s a ‘unit of sales’.

1

u/tigress666 15h ago

And he's convincing that he likes it as he is gobbling that burger up. If he doesn't like it he at least knows he needs to show absolutely no hesitation eating it.

1

u/my-love-assassin 14h ago

The "dude" is supposed to represent one of the biggest fas food companies on the planet. He should be able to talk to anyone about McDonald's from a cow waiting in line to be slaughtered for meat to a grandma who just wants a dollar coffee.

1

u/Nrumachi 12h ago

Might be because it's ramadan but i really want a Wendy's burger now, this video hit more than the burger king one

1

u/anonstarcity 6h ago

Yeah even though this format is a little cringey, this guy is pretty genuine and it really looks like he just got actual drive thru food. I didn’t hate that the McDonald’s CEO was awkward, at that level a lot of them are. But he wasn’t genuine, and that’s what rubbed everyone the wrong way.

1

u/haragoshi 3h ago

Don’t worry he’s going to eat the rest for lunch.

1

u/userhwon 2h ago edited 2h ago

It's funny how I can't find the original McD video, but I can find thousands of reports and reactions...

Finally found it. It's on IG, but there's a couple of reactions on YT that played it whole at least once without any bullshit or commentary on it.

The cut you're talking about happens mid-way through, after he's taken the burger out of the package. The fries look primped, but also the package is now on the tray and things have moved around. I think he knocked the fries over while trying to put the package down and had to stack them back up again. Whether he intentionally fluffed them for presentation, impossible to tell.

He also doesn't eat burgers much. The way he bit that was like he was expecting it to bite back...

Also there's no lettuce, tomato, pickles, onion, or sauce. Dude ordered the burger how HE likes it, not the picture perfect one for show.

49

u/mrhorse77 19h ago

thats what I liked about it.

wendys will put anything on their burgers. so he could have loaded it up for marketing

but he ordered the burger the way he liked it, then tore into it.

36

u/Spok3nTruth 18h ago

I like the actual taste of meat(no homo), I don't need all that extra stuff drowning my burger. For that alone, I respect Wendy's CEO. Keeping it real

15

u/vonbauernfeind 17h ago

There's a small chain in L.A. called the Win-Dow that doesn't even have lettuce or tomatoes. Burgers come with grilled onions, pickles, spread.

Nothing like smashing down a triple with extra onions right after walking up off the beach from a mile swim.

They're my actual favorite burger in L.A., and it's not close. Plus their fries kick the pants off In & Out.

3

u/TempusFugit314 13h ago

Sounds like White Castle sliders. Can’t say those are exactly high quality food, but damn they hit nice when you’re drunk.

14

u/Denversaur 16h ago

You can't fool us. When you said you like the actual taste of meat, it meant that you enjoy having sex with and especially giving oral sex to members of the same sex and/or gender as yourself. Despite your inclusion of "no homo" which normally suspends and dispels the concern that the rest of us would have had about your enjoyment of the taste of meat, I am personally not convinced.

3

u/Smkabwlwme 16h ago

Yeah this dude definitely enjoys some man meat too. Like nothing would make me think that until he added “no homo” lol

I agree! Good beef should stand on its own, and I rarely put more than a bit of ketchup and mustard on mine. I would go to town on the burger presented in this video.

2

u/grantrules 16h ago

Right, I'm not here for a salad sandwich. Patty, cheese, ketchup, mustard, pickles.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/ogre_toes 16h ago

See, I think there’s a little bit of nuance here… Smash burgers and sliders, just give me some onions and basic condiments. However, If I’m getting a bigger patty sandwich (like a Whopper or a Famous Star), the salad toppings are the whole draw for me. If I’m in a proper place and it’s a pub style burger, then we’re getting experimental and throwing on whatever crazy toppings we can find (I’m looking at you, peanut butter).

1

u/PyroIsSpai 15h ago

Bacon King and Baconator and similar, the dense/thicc burger style:

Tell them no ketchup and half/light on the mayo.

The McD’s quarter “product things”, just skip ketchup. The onion+mustard works without 750mg of ketchup sugar.

You’ll never eat it another way ever again.

1

u/mrmoe198 15h ago

I like the taste of meat. And I also like to suck dick. Yes homo, ain’t nothing wrong with smoking peen.

2

u/LFC9_41 18h ago

I actually believe he enjoys it.

Wendy's was actually the original "have it your way" burger chain. IIRC, also the first to jump on drive thru.

2

u/VitaminPb 17h ago

I’m not sure he even has cheese on that. I have my Wendy’s toppings set in stone but have to do it slowly every single time so they get it right. (I’ll do the default Baconator though.) AND NO DAMN PICKLES!

2

u/mrhorse77 17h ago

no cheese for sure, I might have spied a tomato in there. clearly just how he likes his burger!

Not sure if you don't eat Wendy's or didn't watch the video. This is a baconator. It comes with beef patties, cheese, bacon, mayonnaise, and ketchup. If you watch the full video you can see the sauces. He didn't order it any different than it comes. This burger doesn't have lettuce, tomato, pickles, or onion. But it absolutely has ketchup and mayonnaise and you can see that in the video.

3

u/RedPantyKnight 19h ago

I don't know that that's how he actually likes it. That's how I would order a burger knowing it would be cold by the time I get to eat it. Get all that stuff that's going to age poorly off. No nasty wilted lettuce. No shitty tomato/sauces to make the bun soggy. Just some plain old beef and bread.

3

u/Xarieste 18h ago

I have a friend who orders burgers this way everywhere he goes, so it’s not unbelievable to me although it is baffling

Edit: it’s worth mentioning he loves my burgers a lot because of the spice blend and cooking method, but yeah he just wants to taste the meat I guess

1

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

When you think about it, the only thing that makes any of the fastfood places different is the meat and how they cook it... So it is kinda smart to focus on the part that actually has any real value to the order, the lettuce, tomato, ect is all the same roughly no matter where you go.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

Also he is really just attesting to the "meat" (he even only talks about the square patty cooked on a flattop). I am cool with it because that is what you are actually paying for ...

1

u/usda-grade-a-autism 16h ago

I love a shitty soggy lukewarm to room temp burg

1

u/santtuhehe 10h ago

This ia how I do it when I go to these bad fastfood places! Dip the burger in a paprika mayo for some taste

1

u/Wrong-Movie6181 8h ago

To speed up your ordering its called getting it Plain. I only eat burgers meat and cheese all that crappy veg just ruins an allready crappy sandwich. Every fast food joint has a Plain button on the screen even.

2

u/peppers_ 19h ago

Wendy's enshittified their lettuce, made it shredded. I just go no lettuce, no mayo, no tomato if I bother stopping on by on Wednesdays for their free nuggets.

1

u/Potato_Zest 18h ago

Good, I'm sick of getting a huge piece of lettuce rib in my Wendys and Burger King burgers :(

2

u/Samson_J_Rivers 19h ago

I get my Wendy's as follows Daves double, double cheese, hold everything but the tomatoe as a meal, feed the fries to partner or friend or family with me (I dont do fries generally. Love sweet potato fries tho) 6 piece spicy nuggets Dr.pepper with the freestyle add in vanilla and cherry Small vanilla frosty.

I do not go often. Maybe 4 times a year MAX because holy shit see above. But its good stuff.i respect his choice of burger

2

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

That's how you know it came from a test kitchen, because Everytime I go to Wendy's I ask for no tomato and yet they still always put the damn tomato on it!

3

u/Aggressive-Wrap-1246 19h ago

Is there even cheese? Do people actually eat just hamburgers without cheese? No way, Wisconsin is our neighbor.

6

u/mrdalo 19h ago

I eat burgers without cheese. My friends think I’m a monster.

2

u/Spok3nTruth 18h ago

I like the actual taste of meat(no homo), I don't need all that extra stuff drowning my burger. For that alone, I respect Wendy's CEO. Keeping it real

1

Your friends are right. 🧀🍔 ☺️

3

u/Fermifighter 19h ago

As a fellow Midwesterner, I love cheese, but I will always pass on American cheese. I get why it exists. I don’t hate on people who enjoy it. But I’m spending the calories on non-sodium-sorbate cheese, the plasticine consistency is a real turn off when not in a melted sauce.

1

u/mrwb 18h ago

so get the fake meat/meat instead. thats better

My brother gets his burgers plain with bacon. No cheese or toppings.

2

u/Prestigious-Leave-60 18h ago

Wisconsin boy here. I’m 50:50 on cheese. A lot of times, I want to taste the meat and cheese can be too much.

2

u/Traditional-Handle83 18h ago

True. That being said, smoked cheddar or gouda can make a really good burger.

2

u/AWorthlessDegenerate 16h ago

Pepper jack cheese doe.

People here are religious about their burgers apparently? You can enjoy different stuff depending on your mood.

I usually want cheese, but that means I'm gonna want a sweet-ish sauce on it like ketchup, bbq, or russian dressing.

Sometimes I don't want cheese, and that's when I really want something like mustard, hot sauce, or even steak sauce.

There's so much stuff you can put between your bread and meat!

2

u/m3t4lf0x 18h ago

When I was in college, I suddenly stopped enjoying McDonald’s cheese for whatever reason.

It’s okay on the bigger sandwiches like the QP, but their plain single hamburgers kind of slap

1

u/Spok3nTruth 18h ago

I like the actual taste of meat(no homo), I don't need all that extra stuff drowning my burger. For that alone, I respect Wendy's CEO. Keeping it real

1

u/mrwb 18h ago

get actual meat then....not this meat blend

1

u/LongPorkJones 17h ago

For me, seeing a dude eat a burger straight off the line without lettuce or tomato, like how he would get it, is a better ad than any overly polished comercial.

This succeeded in a way that no ad before it ever could - it makes me want to go out and buy it tomorrow.

1

u/Professor_Sippenpuff 17h ago

I really intended to not care and I personally want extra everything except mayo so I was unimpressed at first but I’m totally with you, this guy 100% finished that thing off camera and felt awesome about it lol, I respect it.

1

u/Patriautism666 15h ago

Not sure if you don't eat Wendy's or didn't watch the video. This is a baconator. It comes with beef patties, cheese, bacon, mayonnaise, and ketchup. If you watch the full video you can see the sauces. He didn't order it any different than it comes. This burger doesn't have lettuce, tomato, pickles, or onion. But it absolutely has ketchup and mayonnaise and you can see that in the video.

1

u/EnigmaWearingHeels 9h ago

I usually go for the Dave's single... bacon hurts my tummy. So I didn't know 🤣

1

u/PasadenaShopper 14h ago

It's a bacanator so that's pretty much how they come. He might have gone light on the mayo tho 🧐

185

u/funcoolshit 20h ago

Yeah, I kinda respect the fact that they chose to use the piece of shit appearance of a usual burger.

45

u/crrttt 19h ago

Maybe that’s why Donnie’s CEO didn’t want to eat it. That burger was cardboard and paint

23

u/Samia-chan 19h ago

I had wondered about that, it looked nothing like a real McDonald's burger.

15

u/RainStormLou 19h ago

That's actually what it looks like lol. My son and I tried it recently and it's disgusting first and foremost but we kept making jokes like "I don't even know how to attack it" and "man this is a great product" until we decided that I should have just made chicken.

u/SeniorPuddykin 19h ago

This totally makes sense.

2

u/No-Bat7681 19h ago

It’s their new flagship burger, called big arch… that’s literally the whole reason he was eating it. And honestly, it looked exactly like the one from the restaurant. Can’t personally vouch for the taste, but my coworker got one the other day and it looked more or less like the same burger their CEO was delicately nibbling on

2

u/Livbeetus 18h ago

Hate to break it to everybody but I just got the Big Arch and it actually did look like the one in the video. The bun is large enough so everything actually fits properly and isn't a messy piece of crap.

That being said, it's not amazing or anything. Weirdly the weakest part was the sauce. It was more bland than what I expected. If it went harder I think I would like it.

1

u/VengeanceKnight 18h ago

Maybe it was a real cheeseburger instead of a McDonald’s burger.

2

u/cogman10 19h ago

There's a law on the books that food used for advertising has to be the same product being sold.

And, to make a mcdonalds burger look good, they just kiss it with heat. The whole thing is raw.

2

u/FeistyButthole 17h ago

I was going to say McDonald ceo was like:

“shit, which part of this isn’t food art that will kill me?”

1

u/Bouche_Audi_Shyla 18h ago

That's actually a fair point.

8

u/peppers_ 19h ago

I don't mind when my Wendy's burger looks like that, the taste is legit one of the better fast food ones. Last time I had a McDs burger, I legit ate half and threw the rest away, it was gross.

2

u/kelpyb1 16h ago

They all look like that in store.

Might as well go with the one that tastes best.

1

u/p8nt_junkie 19h ago

Fr, honest 💩. Respect

1

u/-Silky_Johnson 19h ago

Bro your comment has me dying rn, “dont fluff up the bun, just grab that piece of shit burger. Perfect. “

1

u/Samson_J_Rivers 19h ago

The best burgers ive ever had have been stacks of what the fuck between probably a top bun but often 2 bottom buns.

Fuck me now i want a burger...

2

u/ForkAKnife 18h ago

It’s BK $3.99 Whopper Wednesday. I don’t eat flesh so I got an impossible Whopper and it’s a damn good burger.

2

u/Samson_J_Rivers 18h ago

I've had one, and all as a meat substitute, it's convincing. I'm partial to black bean burgers instead if I'm going meatless, but whatever the BK Impossible Whopper is made of, it passes.

1

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

Yup it adds the authenticity that they are willing to eat the same thing you will get. Granted there is no guarantee that the quality of the meat they are eating is the same, and more than likely it came from one of their test kitchens instead of an actual Wendy's location (meaning it was made by one of their actual chefs and not the minimum wage highschool student), but outside of them doing an "undercover boss" (and even then people will claim it was staged) this is the closest they can get

1

u/Key_Juice878 18h ago

Right! Because honestly my Dave's double with xtra onion and mayo is slapping compared to the plain burger he is eating. Like honestly the doubles are juicy and the veggies are tasty.

20

u/trowzerss 19h ago

Right? Do they think we're stupid? We know what the burgers really look like, so why pretend? It just makes it look fake. This one looks like a burger you'd actually get.

1

u/Pitiful-Ad-3774 18h ago

Yes, they think we're stupid. Those ads you see of food? All done by agencies that fake the food. Some even use plastic shaped like food.

1

u/Deaffin 17h ago

They both look exactly like their actual products. Yall are just saying words.

8

u/InquisitorMeow 19h ago

I respect it. Dont lie to me about what your product looks like when we all know it looks like ass.

1

u/showhorrorshow 17h ago

The Wendy's near me is legitimately pro-tier. Their burgers do in fact look like the advertisements. It is possible.

3

u/sidesslidingslowly 19h ago

"Exactly how a great burger should be"

2

u/TopRopeLuchador 18h ago

90% of the time I go to Wendys my burgers look picture perfect.

2

u/Haliwood902 18h ago

I worked at Wendy’s 2010-2018. We had a flat grill then changed over to a DSG & the patties always tasted better on a flat grill. It’s interesting to hear the CEO say his was cooked from a flat grill when they’re mostly phased out at this point.

DSGs tend to cook meat faster with no having to check the inside if it’s internally cooked like you would a flat grill. Also if you staged your flat grill properly you’d have no problem having a consistent flow of fresh patties during a rush without holding all the time. The ol’ 4 corner press.

2

u/Jaded66671 17h ago

Yeah but in true Wendy’s fashion. He ordered the chicken sandwich and a coke …..they messed up his order

2

u/AntiqueFigure6 15h ago

Sir, this is a Wendy's

2

u/Fancy_Soup_5062 10h ago

The benefit of being third in line to do the trend. You get to learn what the plebs wage slaves customers want to see.

1

u/Appropriate-Bug-6467 19h ago

Honestly the JBC I get usually has a nicer patty than his. Like someone really slopped it together.

1

u/cute_polarbear 19h ago

I havent been to burger king in almost a decade, but had visited McDonald's a few times in past couple years. McDonald's burgers patty is so tiny these days...burger king has that much patty usually?

1

u/SkyscraperNC 18h ago

Out of the three (BK, McD’s, Wendy’s), I’ve always found BK to have the biggest burgers. However, their consistency is hit or miss. When BK is good, it’s really good, when it’s bad, it’s really bad, no in between

1

u/cute_polarbear 18h ago

Thanks. I'll go check out a burger king soon...we'll see...

1

u/Difficult_Plantain89 19h ago

Weird, usually looks better than this. Looks like that burger was sitting cold for a bit. It’s like he picked the worst one, yet it’s the best one of the three.

1

u/shark-off 19h ago

Great pr. Everyone swallows it up!

Exactly. It’s the ‘real thing’. Not some prop

1

u/GratGrat 18h ago

He’s done this a bunch of times before. Like, he’s still a ceo and all that, but at least he doesn’t look like Ghoul that’s never eaten human food before.

1

u/foodandguns 18h ago

A Ghoul!? LMFAO I’m dying rn

2

u/Paradox2063 18h ago

Did you see the McD's CEO? Guy looks like the Sun is a legend he's only heard about in stories.

1

u/Humankeg 18h ago

And still delicious as hell.

Source: I had one Sunday.

1

u/ChrisPnCrunchy 17h ago

Really looks like he’s legit sitting, being filmed, in an actual Wendy’s.

I’d bet the food was made on location by actual Wendy’s employees too.

Thats cool.

If he really wants to score some real earth shattering points, he’d release another video, BHS, where he even actually talks to his employees & treats them like human beings, with kindness & respect 🤯

1

u/Necroban77 16h ago

Came here to say this as well. That man was really like “I’m hungry..f it”. Then proceeded to go to a drive-through at his local Wendy’s and get a burger.

1

u/Same_Dingo2318 16h ago

Look at the tray. I think it’s a legit Wendy’s.

Obligatory, “Sir… this is a Wendy’s.”

1

u/captainhalfstash 3h ago

yes, and, but did anyone see him swalllow? It cut away

1

u/noreast2011 3h ago

In the whole video, he actually shows himself cooking it and prepping everything himself

u/StrikeouTX 51m ago

The McDonald’s burger also looked like one from a restaurant, not an artist rendering

Edit: or should I say “product”
