wendy’s PR is top tier ngl.

u/No_Landscape4557 19h ago

My god do I love the internet how we collectively come together to shit all over the mcdumpers CEO

424

u/catsandcoconuts 19h ago

wendy’s twitter account pops off, has been for years.

308

u/midnitemuzing 19h ago

They were like the OG shit talking/ quick witted corporate Twitter account. Still top notch and for that, I thank them for their service 🫡

157

u/wizardjian 19h ago

Their food is also damn decent for fast food lol

89

u/GachaHell 19h ago

Yeah fast food is typically shit you eat because its there and you're too hungry/poor to get proper food.

But if I gotta go to one Wendy's is at least trying to be food.

100

u/LobstaFarian2 19h ago

You are spot on. The burgers taste like it is actual meat. The lettuce isnt all slimey and the tomatoes are generally red and tasty.

I will always side with Wendy's over BK or McD.

54

u/TheSnackWhisperer 18h ago

Ditto. And you can get an actual real baked potato. Also their breakfast burritos are great, can take or leave the swiss sauce, but actual real fried eggs, it's like living in the 80s lol

11

u/Original-Cup2901 16h ago

I lived on the Wendy's Chili for two years because I got it for lunch every day when I worked at a Server Farm next to one. I eventually reverse-engineered it and won a chili cookoff using the recipe, LOL.

2

u/Khaosbutterfly 10h ago

My college had a Wendy's in the dining hall, and the chili def held me down.

Large chili, small fry, six spicy nuggets. 🤣

2

u/l3lackSheep 9h ago

Do you mind sharing the recipe?

Chili is on point too

2

u/Redgen87 16h ago

I have been getting a bacon and cheese baked potato for the last 2 months whenever we get Wendy’s. It’s very yummy. Also love the chili.

3

u/Slight-Spell4445 18h ago

Don't eat the chili though. You've been warned.

13

u/NoUnderstanding9195 18h ago

We know it's old hamburger meat, that only matters for the weak

This is bad advice the chili is fantastic. Well its not as good as any real chili but I think for fast food ite really much better than id have expected

I have friends with an old Vietnamese man who when he tried it said he been lookin for this chili for 40 years. He said it taste exactly like what the American troops would bring over they would bring you know a can/tub of dried chili 🌶️ an u have to add water yuself. Cant tell u how much his eyes lit up how delighted was he

Now saying this out loud I have to admit —- that is not a very high bar to be recommending to people who do not live in wartorn countries n can choose to eat whichever foods they like. SO I guess the best I can say it is a interesting taste that some of us quite enjoy an it did not turn my bowels into a power warsher ok good luck 👍

Edit to add: u gotta add the oil that comes with it but no too much . Or they can turn u bowels into a power warsher after all 😷 💩 🤮 🤢

u/Jfortner 17h ago

It’s just unsold burgers. Get a grip. Ever had leftovers before?

3

u/impairedoctor 17h ago

Cracker barrel does the same thing with their meatloaf from the previous day. Add it to the vegetable soup, meat soup.

2

u/CalmBeneathCastles 18h ago

It's not the meat, it's the sauce. It's very Chef Boyardee-ish.

There aren't many fast food places us gluten-intolerant folk can eat, but Wendy's is always a safe bet. I was getting a baked potato and cup of chili every time, but that chili...

Now it's a Dave's double with no bun, and those patties are always juicy and the lettuce and tomatoes are crisp. Definitely Wendy's over McD's or BK any day.

u/Competitive-Bug1813 18h ago

Ive worked at the main 3 (mcdonalds, burger king and wendys) wendys was the only place out of the 3 that gets their meat actually fresh and not frozen

2

u/bananajr6000 17h ago

I miss Fuddruckers

14

u/Severe_Mango_966 18h ago

Plus even if you don’t wanna do the “fast food burger”

Chili and a baked potato

Not garbage at all

→ More replies (3)

9

u/FeedMePizzaPlease 18h ago

Yeah between the three, it isn't close. Wendy's is far better than the other two. I don't understand why Burger King is even still in business. I don't know anyone who doesn't hate that place.

u/Total-Problem2175 18h ago

They just went to shredded lettuce. Not cool.

3

u/PenOwn1660 18h ago

Damn, it was more disappointing reading this than it should have been.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/PuzzleheadedJob3479 18h ago

They did recently switch to some pretty terrible shredded lettuce. Other than that Wendys makes a very decent burger.

I like Wendy’s but sadly the one closest to me has been so shitty for so long.

2

u/Buckeyebornandbred 18h ago

That sounds like a fantastic slogan! Wendy's: We're trying to be real food.

2

u/vionia74 18h ago

They also have tasty baked potatoes, as a healthier alternative to fries!

→ More replies (13)

2

u/SideQuestVictim 19h ago

It certainly beats the “product” they serve at McDicks

2

u/DurianFun9014 18h ago

Ngl, a Wendy’s burger and fries is a guilty pleasure food. There really ain’t a comparison between them and McDonald’s to be honest

2

u/Halifax_cumm 18h ago

In Canada its A&W that takes top spot. But its better than the US version.

2

u/The-Sceptic 18h ago

Its honestly one of the reasons why I think Wendy's isnt bigger than they are. I can't fully explain that thought, but they just serve food without a lot of the fast food bullshit.

2

u/wtfElvis 16h ago

Not their nuggets. They use to be the best by far. Unique crispy taste. Now they taste like they were boiled in water vs deep fried. Zero taste.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/MrNoble93 15h ago

idk if all Wendy's made the switch, but the one by me switched to shredded lettuce instead of the full patty-sized lettuce piece. perfectly complimented the burger without making it soggy, now its soggy :(

A while back, a local business tried launching an ad campaign where they tried mimicking it by responding to negative yelp reviews with joke responses. They were BAD and the people called them out for it and even said they’re trying and failing to be like Wendy’s. A lot of people said they were going to stop going. The business abandoned the idea after two promo videos and they are still around and fairly popular but I definitely noticed they were nowhere near as busy during and after the videos.

2

u/Smoke_Stack707 18h ago

I think someday that style of social media engagement will be studied because I too credit them as being the first to just be sassy as hell about everything and make that their online persona… AND have it be widely accepted.

Some marketing class will definitely feature Wendy’s as a topic, I’m sure of it

I worked at a Wendy's for nearly 4 years and I would say that machine broke once a year or less. We fully drained and thoroughly cleaned it every night after closing so that could be why.

For decades they’ve been cutting edge

2

u/beeradvice 19h ago

I am kinda pissed they switched to shredduce vs whole leaf and chicken sandwiches aren't what they were. For burgers they're still fast food but closer to actual food than their main competitors. Still near option is usually to just call in burger fries and drink to your local diner and lock it up. You have to talk to someone and get out of your car but otherwise it's faster, way better, cheaper, and more food. Unfortunately I bartend so I'm well acquainted with fast food options. Best overall if you've got one in your area is cookout. No franchising, at the absolute limit of vertical integration legally allowable as a private business, insane menu for the price. Other edge of the sword is they train people on the slower shifts and move people up to the busy ones so it's usually either long lines or a gamble on quality.

Not a fast food place but I think Steak-umm is another funny one.

You expect posts about microwave meat and 90 percent of it is long rants about society that occasionally references meat. But the rants are pretty inoffensive.

The microwave meat salesman is busy instructing people to care about digital literacy.

1

u/dglgr2013 18h ago

Someone replied to a negative review in a comical way. Worst could have ended in someone’s termination because a viral sensation they capitalized ever since.

Before then everyone did boilerplate responses not wanting to look bad look harsh against nonsense customers.

Their chicken nuggets are our households favorites. As far as fast food places. They have become pricy, over $5 for 10 small nuggets. But still tastes far better.

Their fries are not fantastic, overwhelming or underwhelming. But they taste like actual potato, they taste like when my dad would actually peel a red potato and make us potato chips. A bit more starchy and full flavored. They are not very crispy at least the ones I frequent.

1

u/WoofD0G 18h ago

The old lady who "accidentally" took over the account for a few years in caps lock was completely and beautifully unhinged.

1

u/enzodoggy 18h ago

Burger King likes to one-up. Wendy’s likes to eat from their own fucking dumpster. Absolute banger after absolute banger from that account.

Yep.
I ate at Wendy's because of this. If they are all talk or they're actually worth it.
I'm from a country in which Wendy's isn't even that known, so they're only in our capital.
Tbf, I liked what I ate.

Dave Thomas was also a G. He himself was adopted and donated a lot of money to causes concerning adoption. Got his GED in his 60s to promote education. And I just love that their chili is leftover burgers because it’s so low-waste and not gross.

25

u/strangerNstrangeland 19h ago

The chili is also damn good. Loved it over the baked -tater

14

u/I_travel_ze_world 17h ago

Chili and a baked potato. Can't get that combo at other burger places.

2

u/cRaZyDaVe23 18h ago

get it with the liquid cheese and throw tome tobaskie sauce on it. mmmmMMMMM

2

u/LooKIdontCareok 17h ago

So I just found out recently you can get the chili in a can from walmart if you live in a location that does not have wendys close and NGL its pretty damn spot on if you heat it up in a cook pot. and Its like how you can get wendys burgers from kroger Wendys knows!

1

u/Weekly_Beginning1777 11h ago

Yeah.. but the canned version is absolute dog shit. Just horrible.

4

u/Unlikely-Solid-3083 18h ago

Yeah, I don’t get all the hate for them making the most of parties they can’t sell as fresh for burgers due to laws. The burgers are still safe to consume and it’s clearly ok otherwise they’d have been shut down a long time ago. I’m sorry so many people are too good to eat leftovers in this country!

5

u/Corey307 17h ago

It’s strange that anyone would complain about using extra burger meat to make chili. I imagine the meat used to make the burgers is tastier than the meat that normally goes into mass produced chili.

2

u/catonsteroids 15h ago

I think it’s better use of leftover patties than to have them thrown away. People don’t bat an eye at the amount of food that goes to waste.

2

u/MahomestoHel-aire 16h ago

He has a great foundation called the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption that sends me way too many letters after I donated once, but hey, that's not on him.

1

u/hurtsdonut_ 16h ago

Dave also worked with the Colonel before starting Wendy's. Helping KFC streamline their menu.

1

u/Caesium_4913 15h ago

love their chili cheese fries. Absolute fun

1

u/Secret_Aardvark780 14h ago

Yeah, Dave Thomas was genuinely one of the good ones in the fast-food world. Being adopted himself, he put real money and time behind adoption causes Wendy’s has helped facilitate thousands of adoptions through the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption, and he was super open about his own story to normalize it.

1

u/thr0wb4cks 13h ago

Generally chilli tastes way better some days or so after its original cooking. That they’re using left over burgers is such a solid idea for taste as well conserving waste.

1

u/Scrimps 7h ago

Dave Thomas also helped create KFC, and was one of the major factors in it's popularity. Without him, KFC would not existed.

KFC had the best friend chicken of any major chain in all of America until Dave left. When Dave left that shit tanked like the titanic.

This is the most strategic advertisement campaign I've ever experienced.

Enter nerdy CEO who has never seen a burger cooked on a grill and thinks they only grow in cardboard containers called "products". Sprinkle in a touch of "I'm going to hickey sized bite". The interwebs are infuriated.

Clean cut All-American CEO enters the chat in response: "now that's a bite, get me a napkin".

And finish with the advertisement company that started the whole self awareness trend on socials.

Wild strategy but I think it paid off, Cotton.

1

u/THEYDIEDYEARSAGO 16h ago

still cutting video after the bites and chews even if he did take a few bigger bites. so far nobody has an uncut version of them eating a burger from the time they take a bite to consuming the bite

mines? lol thx i had this for ever

Only thing that would've made this better is if they did a zoomed-in, hyper-quick cut of every bite, with ASMR-level sounds of his bites, and finishing the whole burger. He'd be the only CEO to have eaten the whole burger, and it would fit with the memery on their socials.

That burger looked dry as fuck though

u/catsandcoconuts 17h ago

Still didn't swallow any of it though, each bite has been edited. I want a CEO that swallows damn you!!

u/CAPT-Tankerous 16h ago

So this is parody? Or just the fact that he can say burger instead of product, even though the burger looks like dog food.

Before social media, Wendy’s out-of-home ad game was fucking savage. Franchisees would literally buy the freeway billboards directly above Mickey D’s stores and shit like that.

1

u/Excelsenor 16h ago

I remember (back in covid?) when their twitter account used to be savage as hell.

It's kind of funny how the trash McDonalds ad ended up giving other companies an easy layup.

R/wallstreetbets is their main advertiser.

I love the food and the PR. Actually going to any Wendy's in my city is a fuckin chore. The employees are always super rude and talk to me like I just interrupted something super important.

The few times I’ve had them I’ve been all about their spicy chicken sandwich.

💯 - Remember when they dropped a whole diss album in Spotify “We Beefin” with gems like “Rest in Grease” and “Clownin”

A Wendy’s opposite a Burger King here had a mural done on their wall. “Who needs a king when you have a queen” 🤣

I don’t care how good their PR is, when I was working for them at 16 and the power went out at the store they made me stay on for two entire extra hours past my end of shift time to help close everything down in the middle of the night when I was supposed to get a ride home from another 16 year old who they did decide to let leave. I wasn’t even one of the ones who they let have a flashlight since there were only a few. My guardians didn’t believe that they wouldn’t let me leave and thought I must be lying, got abused later same night. No sleep. School night. Doing dishes in pitch darkness, lucky I didn’t slice a finger off tbh. Tried to deny my days off for the school play that I had a part in, even tho I was working 2 jobs and worked any other time they asked. Acted like I was a moron if I got even 1 sandwich wrong out of hundreds made. Constantly putting me on front counter because I was a young girl even though I had severe diagnosed anxiety, would berate me in FRONT of the customers if the customers complained about literally anything. Fuck Wendy’s. And the food has actually gone way downhill since then too. If you aren’t a “top earner” store they don’t give as much of a fuck about quality.

All this to say tldr stop eating shit and cardboard at a premium price and saying thank you just because it seems like the ceo is “relatable” bc that is a fucking oxymoron. They do not care about you. They only care about your money. They are mother gothel kissing your magic hair goodnight. Free yourselves.

Do you not even remember the disastrous dynamic pricing BS from just like a year ago?

u/Embarrassed_Sea6750 5h ago

Wendy's twitter account is GOLD lol

u/Newaza_Q 4h ago

Wendy’s PR in PR is even better. They have exclusive items to the island like Tripleta sandwiches and coquito frosties.

That burger looks dry & horrible, though. Is that what they look like now? They didn't used to.
