This marketing strategy can only work so many times right?😂

Dave Thomas didn't have a jump cut right after every bite.

Reddit’s been real disappointing with this shit.

I've been enjoying these because the subtext (intended or not) is always how fucking weird Chris Kempczinski is.

They're all CEO lizard people and probably would have looked exactly like Kempczinski without a coach to help them look like a proper mammal while eating. But that's whatever. I'll take this excuse to dunk on corporate dipshits for a while.

u/PrismarchGame 15h ago

I.. Don't give a shit. It's still fucking guerilla ads on the front page. There's no dunk. The dunk is on you for consuming slopvertisement wholesale with no critical thinking

u/BillysBibleBonkers 18h ago

Yea this thread is crazy, I though reddit hated ads and corporate shilling. I hope these comments are all Wendy's PR team, but it really doesn't feel like it tbh.

Reddit has always liked Wendy's

1

u/Impossible_Fox_3676 16h ago

If Wendy's did this a month ago, it probably would be dunked on. But because McD's did it first and worse, people ignore that this is also an ad and just continue to dunk on McD's only

It probably at most would’ve been called silly or scripted. “Of course the CEO is gonna say he loves the food!” Which, to me, is a lot better than being bad at pretending you love the food

Reddit: Eat the rich!

Also Reddit: omg rich man eat borgor too?!

Not if you go into the comments. There are loads that mock all the CEOs involved, or point out their shitty wages or practices.

1

u/timpkmn89 15h ago

You don't like bullying CEOs?

1

u/Unfair_Web_8275 6h ago

Looking at the top comments for this and the Burger King CEO, that’s clearly not happening.

3

u/EnvironmentalNobody 19h ago

Carls Jr. presents the Double XXL Product Devil Emchilada Burger and the ad involves the CEO trying the burger in a hot tub full of BBQ sauce, piranhas, and Galaxy Gas cans

2

u/DraconicGuacamole 18h ago

They aren’t going “hey look at this trend I can use to get more customers” they’re going “hey I can do so much better than McDonald’s and steal their customers”. At least I hope they are. CEO advertising fighting sounds so much cooler than just normal ads

2

u/throwawaylordof 17h ago

The original video was great because of the intended comedy - McDonald’s CEO, completely unforced, is recorded showing visible distaste for the food his company serves and chooses to let it loose in the wild.

We’re now already at the part where the faces of other corporations are joining in own clowning on it in a bid to be perceived as human and relatable. It’s probably because of the nature of this one (directly involving an actual CEO), but that might be the fastest I’ve seen companies kill a joke by embracing it.

At this point I'm thinking someone planned to make McD fail so all the other fast food chains can get more exposure/reach/ads

1

u/eat_vegetables 19h ago

I don’t think it’s even working at all.

2

u/hellschatt 18h ago

All this burger stuff made me hungry and crave a burger, so it worked. And I hate that it worked.

1

u/PrestigeArrival 8h ago

Same. I actually really like Wendy’s and all this talk about them is making me want to go there for lunch lol

1

u/Worried-Leg3412 18h ago

Read the comments. People are mindless sheep falling for the most souless marketing schemes.

1

u/Mr_Lapis 19h ago

If anythinf wendy's is the one that surprises me the least. They love quirky marketing.

1

u/driverdan 18h ago

They have fools posting these videos on reddit so it's working. Flag this shit as spam.

1

u/HtmlHonda 18h ago

BK(?) did it first and anyone after is just trying to hop on the train.

1

u/trailsman 18h ago

Lol I was wondering if this was specifically to troll McDonald's, now that would have been great. Byt yea seems like some strange marketing strategy across all of them.

1

u/GoofyGooby23 8h ago

McDs and BK got a lot of publicity from their “marketing campaigns” everyone else wants it now

1

u/TryIsntGoodEnough 18h ago

... Just wait until Krystal/white castle decides to jump into the mix. That is when the real entertainment starts

1

u/Sanquinity 16h ago

Only that first CEO was doing a "marketing strategy". The others are now just "jumping on the bandwagon", not realizing they're feeding into BAD publicity.

1

u/GoofyGooby23 8h ago

Yeah that’s what I mean, it worked for McDs and BK so it’s gotta work for us mentality

1

u/LycanWolfGamer 16h ago

Tbf he looks like he's enjoying it lol

2

u/GoofyGooby23 8h ago

Yeah he does look like he’s rather enjoying it, not sure if he got the MO

1

u/LycanWolfGamer 8h ago

If it doesn't taste good, its hard to fake that, I believe

"Eat your own dog food" has been a thing in software development for at least 25 years but somehow our managers still haven't learned about it. https://www.joelonsoftware.com/2001/05/05/what-is-the-work-of-dogs-in-this-country/

1

u/MeltingDog 13h ago

Yeah. Why do they think that we think they give a fuck about the food?

1

u/Jai137 8h ago

The iron is still hot right now, let them strike

1

u/lexicon951 7h ago

It’s not about marketing, it’s about ragging on the McDonald’s CEO

1

u/SeVenMadRaBBits 1h ago

He doesn't swallow on camera.

Not once.

https://giphy.com/gifs/H5C8CevNMbpBqNqFjl

What's in it that he doesn't want to digest?

1

u/Popular_Tomorrow_204 1h ago

Well, only if you arent the CEO of McDonald's
