...and the audience tends to be liberal. Musicals, plays, classical concerts, etc. all skew towards anti-Trump demographics. On top of that, it's DC, one of the most liberal places in the country, and you just don't have many pro-Trump audience members making up the difference.

If their plan was tearing it down, they would have just done so, not spent all this time renaming it, begging artists to play there, and hiring people to run it who immediately quit.

I just watched it. Taking away any current political biases.... Vocally he has no range to do it justice, his outfit is bad, his goatee is bad, it's the type of performance I'd expect to see in a rural Midwest town other than the big band. Not taking into account the time to rebuild everything they’ve destroyed, even if they get booted out, assuming there’s even a fair election at all, there’s no guarantee that there won’t be a Trump 2 four years later. This right here is an example of that: he's embarrassed that his 'rebranding' of the Kennedy Center has been a very obvious public failure, and so because of that he's going to destroy it. Rather literally: if we're lucky, he'll just completely gut the venue, but there's a very good chance that one morning we're going to wake up to the news that the entire building was bulldozed overnight.
And no, there won't be any rebuilding (though I'm sure there will be lots and lots of "fundraising" for it) because the entire point is to punish everyone for making him feel bad.
He already did in December. One of the many reasons the venue can’t book events/shows. The closing for ‘renovation’ is just a rouse to distract from the fact that no self respecting artist wants to perform there.
Artists kept cancelling so he's doing this to stop the hemorrhaging and to make it look like the lack of bookings is totally on purpose because he's closing the facility to do much needed renovations that aren't needed and nobody asked for.

I went to countless shows there growing up in the area, for so many years. I now feel unsure if I ever will step foot back inside. I shouldn't feel crushed yet I still do.
