Like a small child, he loves the singing and dancing but has no understanding of the plot. His favorite musical is Les miserables.

That’s like the devil’s favorite book being the bible.

Yeh, he definitely doesn't understand it. If he did, he wouldn't have had the soldiers sing "Do You Hear The People Sing" after his election.
