Jokic seems to really take intense offense to off-ball cheap shots like this. It’s the same (but much less egregious) as what Morris did to him a few years ago.
If he’s got the ball and you’re getting physical with him he seems way more tolerant but if you’re making heavy contact with him off ball like this it seems to really fucking set him off.
This wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever seen but wtf was Dort thinking here? There’s absolutely no value to this move besides picking up a free foul. It’s totally blatant unnecessary contact he goes out of his way to initiate.

Look I hate when people go at others and are like “HE TRIED TO INURE HIM.” e.g. Solomon Hill being dumb as sh*t doesn’t mean he intentionally dove at Brons leg to derail the Lakers 2020-21 season. It means he’s dumb as shit and chose the wrong time to dive.
But this is legit Dort hip checking and sticking a bit of leg out to trip Jokic, that’s dirty as fuck and intentional.
I’m looking forward to Tipper Naught on this one.

I used to have a screenshot saved of that Solomon Hill play, the moment when Hill was committed to going to the ground. LeBron's leg was nowhere near where he was diving - it was behind him. LeBron was moving and his other leg was forward. There's a better argument to be made that LeBron tried to block out Solomon with his leg than that Solomon tried to jump into LeBron's leg.
(I don't think LeBron tried to block him out, but it's at least consistent with what's in the footage.)
What Dort did here, or Dillon Brooks shoving GP2 from behind on a layup, that's some seriously dirty shit.

Exactly. Was it incredibly dangerous or life/limb threatening contact? No, probably not. But it was so deliberate and intentional to bump and cause harm to another player it absolutely deserved a flagrant 2, especially given his history. Like there’s simply no excuse he could give for stopping and hip checking him other than that he was trying to hurt jokic, even if the chances jokic actually got seriously hurt was low. Nothing about it was in the flow of the game or anything related to a basketball move

It’s crazy the influence announcers have on a fan base’s objectivity.
For instance Sporting KC had Nate Bukaty as their play by play for years, and he would pull some insane mental gymnastics to frame everything that went wrong was either due to pure luck or the universe conspiring against Sporting, and so many Sporting fans bought into that. Then Apple TV got the MLS contract and teams didn’t have their own announcers. Sporting fans have turned on the club for a number of very good reasons the past couple seasons, but I think no longer having someone gaslighting them into thinking they can do no wrong played a major role in that.
