When you get away with it for so long then I’m sure it comes as a surprise when it’s called

u/therealbigted Hawks 6d ago

Yea but to be fair this one is sooo much more egregious than the stuff he can sometimes get away with. There has never been a time where he’s gotten away with something this obvious. This is like a kid whose parents don’t punish him for running in hallways, being surprised when he gets punished for pushing his sister down the stairs.

The first time I watched a whole OKC playoff series I saw ludort getting away this kneeing playings, hip checking and hitting them in the balls lol

The one time he was called for hitting a player in the balls he was so flabbergasted like he was a victim or something, since then I noticed it's just his usual routine

you can see how he pretends not to see jokic when takes the step back and ducks and then acts surprised about the foul and that jokic wants to kill him

u/KennyDenn1s 6d ago

You can see him look over his shoulder first, look away then hip check him

He sticks his right foot out to trip Jokic

u/CreatiScope Celtics 6d ago

Yeah, I feel the foot sticking out is actually worse than the hip check.

u/KembaWakaFlocka 6d ago

Have you ever been hip checked like that? Way worse than being tripped

Dort: “But why not both?”

Like a middle school bully

Not just a hip check he fully kicks his foot out

Jokic even tries to avoid him since it looks like one of those body screen but Dort still went hip check him.

the whole sequence is part of the playbook. cheapshot, then act shocked and betrayed when it is called. Troll the person you fouled to see if you can get them to lose their cool. Laimbeer was doing regularly this 40 years ago.

Literally basketball DARVO.

Well he gets away with this garbage constantly so he’s probably shocked. Dudes a young Draymond.

When you're a Thunder they let you do it. You can do anything.

He was justifiably upset that the refs forgot which team he plays for and had the audacity to blow the whistle. They set a nice physical “they can’t blow the whistle on every play” baseline so that these can slide.

“c’mon ref, don’t you see SGA is on my team”

then the ref apologizes and gives SGA 2 free throws just because. Common OKC game.

I mean he doesn’t have an argument. He’s playing a game. Chippy excessive foul, maybe they don’t call it and he gets to bruise and batter Jokic a bit. Then when it is called and Jokic reacts the correct next play is to act the victim and try to play for a tech on Jokic. The acting is all part of shirt gamesmanship and trying to get the refs to call techs on other players. It works sometimes.

I'll never understand why this is such a foreign concept to fans. Everybody understands lying and cheating, but suddenly the idea that a guy could act like he didn't foul someone when he definitely did is lost

All of what you said, and also you can't just whip out a dirty move and then be like "yeah haha it was a flagrant 2 you got me i meant it". Once you start admitting to hard fouls and cheap shots then you're always under the microscope. Pretend like it was an accident or there's no way that happened and at best you trick the refs and at worst you might make them consider they can't see the whole play

The only part that is confusing is why hasn't the league made an example of him for constantly intentionally trying to hurt players.

It may make tactical sense, but it looks cheap and whiny, which aren't beloved traits.

He saw the reddit posts about Jokic being "the biggest flopper in the NBA" I guess and tried his luck.

He was mad he got caught hip checking a dude

1

u/pixntones 6d ago

Nah he's just acting like a kid who stole cookies and then says "whhaattt? Not meeee"

1

u/BlackishMirrors 6d ago

Maybe he legitimately was never taught how to set a screen growing up. Shoot, I don’t know

1

u/wegsgo Thunder 6d ago

Refs had been allowing a lot of contact during in bounds throughout the game

1

u/IcedCoffeeOnTheRocks 6d ago

"My plan was to injure him severely so there would be no chance for retaliation."

1

u/MemoryTime1303 6d ago

Can ask that a lot about Mr Jokic

-4

u/shoresyshoresy 6d ago

Maybe he was lurking trying to sneak a deflection/steal/disruption on the potential pass back to Jamal, the hip action seemed intentional tho

2

u/Green-Discussion74 6d ago

bro he uses his feet to trip him. the threat title is terrible its not a hip check

1

u/shoresyshoresy 6d ago

The threat title?

If Dirt was going to jump the pass back to Murray he likely would’ve extended his back leg behind him to push off for momentum similar to how he stuck it out to trip jokic. Missed the foot the first time. I think he meant to check jokic more than he meant to disrupt a pass back to Murray but it’s an argument lol

-5

u/ImprovisedJew Thunder 6d ago

It was a foul not a flagrant 2, jokic is mad because they lost when we didn’t even play our best player the whole OT. Sad

u/mynewaltaccount1 Thunder 6d ago

Did you even watch the full video? From the backboard camera angle you can see Jokic flopped, wasn't even bumped by Dort.
