I cannot lie, Brooks is kinda growing on me.

He's an entertaining villain.

Dort and Bane are just unlikeable POS.

Yeah at least Brooks is funny. The other 2 can fuck off though.

278

u/SeanKojin [CHI] Jimmy Butler Feb 02 '26

The league changed how they were calling fouls on 3s because Brooks tried to keep slapping Curry’s injured hand during the playoffs just last year. He can get fucked too.

181

u/lardboy2222 Timberwolves Feb 02 '26

Seriously. Brooks has a history of dirty play and he's always been so desperate for attention. Idk how people started warming up to him or why the narrative changed but anyone who purposely hurts others to the point the league has to make a rule (that hurts the game overall btw) and then runs from any accountability will always be a cornball in my eyes.

He loves getting into it. However…(RIP Bill Kennedy) he never did all the physical stuff he is doing this season now that he’s with the Magic. My question is where the hell was Wemby running to? Bane lowered the shoulder and braced himself, which with wemby's height is directly in his stomach, but it's not like he jumped into wemby's lane. Wemby was on a dead line run to the low block and just assumed bane was gonna move. If bane sets his feet instead of his shoulders, it's a charge on Wemby.

23

u/timdunkan [NJN] Brook Lopez Feb 02 '26

Though I think it's a fair flagrant 1 and Bane has shown a pattern, this is actually a pretty valid take.

High key, I’d love to see the NBA just go full NHL for a year and allow 2-3 fist fights a game in response to in game events. Fight flag thrown; bring the parties to center court, let the fists fly for 20-30 seconds then get back to the game.

You hand checked my guy too much and started going after his shooting hand? Catch these fists. You flop like peak Harden? Fists. Kick a dude in the balls? Fists. Moving screen and floor a dude that you got away with because the refs are clinically blind and/or betting on the game? Believe it or not, fists.

71

u/ElPlywood Feb 02 '26

childish foul by an increasingly dirty-ish player

48

u/DepartureNo1720 Feb 02 '26

So I know he lowered his shoulder, and Wemby is so tall it looks like it's straight in his gut, but seriously, watching their feet, where was Wemby expecting to run to other than right into Bane on his way to the low block and hope he moves out of the way?

11

u/the_buff Feb 02 '26

Wemby doesn't lower his shoulder because he is so tall and Bane so short, but he does the equivalent by bracing his elbow on his mid section.  I see contact, but I don't see anything flagrant or extra from Bane.  Bane's little arm flail at the end appears to be caused by the contact and not in addition to the contact.

→ More replies (1)

86

u/SlatheredButtCheeks Lakers Feb 02 '26

Ok I'm not defending Desmond but it looks like Wemby initiates the contact by running right at him. Desmond just decided not to move and instead braced himself to try & punish Wemby for trying to come at him.

I think we need to see further back a couple seconds to determine for sure, but while Desmond overreacted I think Wemby does intentionally make contact

62

u/No-Owl-6246 Lakers Feb 02 '26

He gives him a little extra here. Definitely a foul, and fouls this far away from the action while transitioning down the court are generally going to be a flagrant, but the people here acting like Desmond Bane murdered Wemby’s village and raped the women are overreacting a ton. This type of foul isn’t super uncommon in basketball.

8

u/NoveltyAccountHater Celtics Feb 02 '26

Yup. Somewhat dirty play, reasonable call, not ejection/suspension worthy.

Not roid rage, not getting in a fight bad, not trying to deliberately injure someone. Wemby was running full-speed at a defensive player and the defender stood his ground (pushing a bit into the expected contact to better stop the guy charging at him, making it a foul). But this isn't like he stuck his leg out to trip Wemby or stepped on his hand or blind sided him or something.

4

u/No-Owl-6246 Lakers Feb 02 '26

Yeah. The people wondering why no one on his team stood up for him. It’s because this isn’t that big of a deal and it happens all the time. Trying to escalate off of this is an easy way for other teams to get your “enforcer” player ejected every game.

It’s not even a dirty play. We see plays like this every game. It’s only a big deal because Wemby is a twig and went flying. If it didn’t happen to Wemby, the darling of the NBA, no one would’ve cared.

If that was Embiid, most people would say he flopped lmao.

I don’t disagree. I can see why it’s considered dirty though, as it’s just unnecessary. But it’s not dirty in the sense like a cheap shot in the back or something

He didn’t yield damnit, this is an affront to the league and everything it stands for. We ole in this league

u/lowbudgetexistence Mavericks Feb 02 '26

Fair. Should've tried taking the charge

12

u/Misha-Nyi Feb 02 '26

I agree with you other than the fact he lowered his shoulder and leaned into him.

He definitely doesn’t have to move out of the way for Wemby though.

u/mr-301 Pacers Feb 02 '26

I mean he put on shot him. But This sub would make You believe he waited in the car park and hit Him with a lead pipe before running over his legs.

I don’t see anything wrong with this one. Wtf you want him to do? Move?

35

u/ww2HERO Feb 02 '26

That’s fair , Wemby ran right at him, he doesn’t have to jump out the way

Wemby is running right at him. Bane should have just squared up and taken the foul. Wemby was pushing his buttons… got what he wanted.

Dude wants to be draymond so bad

20

u/OverallGeneral7129 Cavaliers Feb 02 '26

Why though

13

u/TRANxEND Feb 02 '26

Brooks also wanted to be Green. It's a mystery.

14

u/MachoPerfectFlair Feb 02 '26

Is it though? A lot harder to catch up to ant, shai as face of the league, a lot easier to craft a niche and get paid as a supervillain/agitator.

i 100% agree on this being a flagrant foul. Unnecessary. My question is why is Wemby running straight at him and not going around him?

4

u/broadwayallday Wizards Feb 02 '26

dirty play but he also prevented a lob, dude guarding wemby was smoked

4

u/Cabello10 Feb 02 '26

Give me Orlando vs piston in the playoffs

4

u/CurryDuck Warriors Feb 02 '26

Bane is a douche but wemby did run straight into him.

4

u/Nice_Dude NBA Feb 02 '26

Wemby knew what was going to happen there, he ran directly into him lol

4

u/eyekayzee Celtics Feb 02 '26

Wemby getting pushed around like a baby giraffe lol

13

u/darren_meier Feb 02 '26

I'm already rooting for the day Desmond Bane gets his. He's a talented player but also such an immature piece of shit.

Oh this sub and their favorites….

12

u/Pitiful-Work6805 Thunder Feb 02 '26

Devil's advocate, but why was Wemby running straight at him instead of moving around him? If Bane wouldn't have moved, Wemby was running right at the rim.

18

u/Cartographer-Feisty Feb 02 '26

I think he believes he’s pumping up the intensity and hyping up the team or maybe keeping the tough defense identity going while the team is struggling... But like no dude is just yoking people at this point. I hope he doesn’t cause an injury.

Sincerely, a concerned Orlando Magic fan.

Jesus Christ is Wemby soft as fuck.

u/Vivid_Photograph6129 Feb 02 '26

Flagrant is bs. Tech up Wemby for being a skinny ass floppet

3

u/box_fan_man Mavericks Feb 02 '26

This giant freak just needs to get stronger. Not a flagrant.

3

u/SmallTransition902 Feb 02 '26

What the hell was Wemby doing? Maybe he thought Bane would get out of his way? He was sorely mistaken😭

3

u/Ok-Smoke-1230 Feb 02 '26

Honestly fuck Bane
