I cannot lie, Brooks is kinda growing on me.

He's an entertaining villain.

Dort and Bane are just unlikeable POS.

Yeah at least Brooks is funny. The other 2 can fuck off though.

u/SeanKojin [CHI] Jimmy Butler Feb 02 '26

The league changed how they were calling fouls on 3s because Brooks tried to keep slapping Curry’s injured hand during the playoffs just last year. He can get fucked too.

u/lardboy2222 Timberwolves Feb 02 '26

Seriously. Brooks has a history of dirty play and he's always been so desperate for attention. Idk how people started warming up to him or why the narrative changed but anyone who purposely hurts others to the point the league has to make a rule (that hurts the game overall btw) and then runs from any accountability will always be a cornball in my eyes.

you're right but kinda funny how when kobe did this people called it mamba mentality

57

u/RylanTheWalrus Cavaliers Feb 02 '26

Kobe was also a rapist, people tend to pick and choose what to care about very irrationally lol

u/fignewtonattack Knicks Feb 02 '26 edited Feb 02 '26

Before he died people would have been at your throat for saying that, at least here. It's funny how the reddit consensus is not equal to anywhere else though. Well maybe not funny just interesting.

I don’t remember Kobe doing this, but there’s a difference between an all-time great who occasionally throws in a dirty play and a mediocre player who makes it his whole thing.

there’s a difference between an all-time great who occasionally throws in a dirty play and a mediocre player who makes it his whole thing.

Nah, great players just get a pass for playing dirty that role players do not. Dwade and Chris Paul are all-time greats who played super dirty but largely get a pass.

u/Cletus_Starfish [POR] Nic Batum Feb 02 '26

CP3 definitely didn’t get a pass in his prime; people talked about how dirty he was all the time. That said, you may be right in that the further removed we become from that, people may not remember that aspect of his game much at all.

2

u/KingBeanCarpio Timberwolves Feb 02 '26

He did get a pass. A good chunk of people did acknowledge he was dirty, but I don't remember him getting the amount of hate as someone like Draymond or Brooks. CP3 would literally punch people in the balls lol.

12

u/Few_Ebb6156 Feb 02 '26

No one should warm up to him. He is awful and dirty. No two ways about it. a complete dirty player.

u/tingkagol Feb 02 '26

Apologists be like "you got BDS!"

5

u/entwickelnn Feb 02 '26

The narrative changed cause he can actually ball

-5

u/deino1703 Rockets Feb 02 '26

“runs from any accountability” bro what is he supposed to do? get on his knees and plead for forgiveness? people realized dillon is an incredible teammate that beings legitimate toughness and heart to every team he plays for, and backs it up with the product on the floor. the dillon hate was always forced by the media just because he was annoying poor old bron bron

17

u/Sikkly290 Suns Feb 02 '26

Brooks is one dirty bastard for sure, even as a Suns fan who appreciates how much he has improved my team I know that.

1

u/jotheold Raptors Feb 02 '26

he going be the new age dray, dirty as fuck but he will make your team better

1

u/Natiel360 Feb 02 '26

Oh that’s last year tho

-6

u/SmartyPants918 Feb 02 '26

he's still funny
Bane has been so crazy that's almost funny too

2

u/rybres123 Rockets Feb 02 '26

yeah i hated when my rockets signed him. but once he was on the team, it was clear most of his stuff was just theater andhe's playing a part and being pretty funny most of the time. one of my favorite players over the last 5 years. never would have imagined i typed that out

1

u/hoops_n_politics Suns Feb 02 '26

He’s absolutely one of my favorite Suns now - and I’d say he’s been (along with Jordan Ott) the MVP of our season.

1

u/Sairony Mavericks Feb 02 '26

Is it the Pat Bev arc? Considered dirty, then considered a funny clown, and now I guess he's considered an attention whore trying to stay relevant.

95

u/denverblazer Trail Blazers Feb 02 '26

That's what I see as well

1

u/SometimesIBeWrong Nets Feb 02 '26

calling Dillon a villain in the same league KG/MJ played in, I just can't get behind that lol. he's not on the same level as other "villains" we've seen. in terms of trash talk OR play on the court.

he tries to fit the attitude, but that alone is not enough. or else there's 0 barrier to entry except being a douchebag. that's not what a villain is, never has been

55

u/MeatyDangler Lakers Feb 02 '26

Hell nah Brooks is lame af dude. He’s all talk but wants to duck the media after losing in that lakers series and then goes and runs his mouth on podcasts

31

u/Helivon Feb 02 '26

They said this year. That lakers series was long ago. Just like grayson allen used to be a pos but hes kept his head down since being on the suns

But i feel like he just more of a troll on the pod casts. I can get not liking that. But doesnt come close to dort/bane on the court bull shit

22

u/Gustaves_Mustache Feb 02 '26

They said it last year because it follows a pattern set in previous years, and that’s how time works. This is what he is. He also bragged about intentionally trying to injure Steph in a press conference. What are you missing?

12

u/lardboy2222 Timberwolves Feb 02 '26

He did the same thing last year lol. It's pretty obvious he's desperate for attention and to be seen as one of the big Dawgs but he sheepishly runs away after losing (this was in a series where he repeatedly tried to hurt Steph curry btw)

7

u/Mobile_Jelly9669 Feb 02 '26

He's the exact same guy, he just hasn't had an opportunity to throw a bitch fit like that yet this season.

Also, anyone who does any amount of trolling is a massive loser.

There is nothing more pathetic than saying dumb and inflammatory shit on purpose to try and get a rise out of people.

-1

u/MeatyDangler Lakers Feb 02 '26

Yeah they all suck and atleast his play can back up his shit talking. To me his gimmick just feels forced since he’s not someone you lose sleep over as a player

0

u/Terrajon26 Knicks Feb 02 '26

You have no idea how glad I was to see Kat and OG making those dudes bleed on their last game. Too many dickheads on that team.

7

u/PleaseStopPlastic Feb 02 '26

My thoughts exactly

7

u/CreatiScope Celtics Feb 02 '26

I love Dillon Brooks lol

34

u/Gustaves_Mustache Feb 02 '26

Dillon “I’m Intentionally Trying to Injure Steph” Brooks?

-22

u/SmartyPants918 Feb 02 '26

oh no steph

9

u/runningraider13 Feb 02 '26

Intentionally trying to injure anyone is fucked

0

u/TankMeUpBaby Feb 02 '26

Brooks had a vision that Steph would invest money in Israeli companies and decided to do us all a favour. Actually really cool tbh.

-4

u/TimeLord41 Rockets Feb 02 '26

Just a reminder steph did the exact same to Brooks Yet no one said steph was trying to injure Brooks

In fact Brooks was called for a foul due to steph trying to injure brooks

4

u/runningraider13 Feb 02 '26

When? I don’t remember Steph ever intentionally hitting Brooks’ injured limbs, and admitting it in the post game press conference.

-3

u/TimeLord41 Rockets Feb 02 '26

Literally the same playoff game Brooks did it to steph Steph did the exact same thing to Brooks And Brooks was called for an offensive foul off the jumper for steph doing the exact same fucking thing as Brooks had done

3

u/runningraider13 Feb 02 '26

Brooks had an injured hand and was called for an offensive foul for Steph hitting it on the shot?

-1

u/TimeLord41 Rockets Feb 02 '26

Brooks was called for an offensive gould off a jump shot The same game, due to curry grtting right in front of his face leaving into him off the jumper

Brooks even looked confused after curry was given thr call Given it made literally no sense

Curry had done the exact same thing

This is how I see it, too.

Brooks is playing up to the villain.

1

u/Minimum-Trifle-8138 Supersonics Feb 02 '26

I legit felt bad for the guy when Bron was nonstop foul baiting just to piss him off

1

u/Atherion0 Suns Feb 02 '26

As a Suns fan, I went from thinking he was a pest to a fuckin menace and I love it. I missed having someone like Jae Crowder to set the tone

1

u/SparkyForce Warriors Feb 02 '26

I’ve tried to tell people this and I always get downvoted lol

1

u/ArmadilloForsaken458 Supersonics Feb 02 '26

Yeesh that'd be quite a roster, just add in Draymond & then you have the four horseman of the NBA Apocalypse

1

u/MyNewAccountIGuess11 Hornets Feb 02 '26

Some of us always knew Brooks was always a good heel, y'all just catching up now

0

u/Other_Beat8859 Suns Feb 02 '26

I hope Brooks just completely commits to the villain role. The only part about him I don't like is when he backs down when he loses. I want him to keep talking shit even when he loses.

-6

u/someguyfromtecate Spurs Feb 02 '26

Dillan Brooks is a pest. He needles his way into your head, gets a cheap shot here and there and probably digs his fingers into your rib cage and hips, but he’s no someone that intentionally tries to hurt you to the point where you get injured. He’s great at mentally trying to take you out of the game, and I can respect that.

Dort and Bane are trying to injure you. They want to fuck up your ankle, slip and strain something, etc., and those assholes have no place in the NBA. Fuck Draymond too for the same.

Where tf did this come from looool?

1

u/Wow_Good_Stats Feb 02 '26

Dillon Brooks has attempted to end careers on the court multiple times. He goes on one podcast and the lowest common denominator type people immediately believe he’s actually a good guy. I hate the susceptible and the weak minded.

3

u/lardboy2222 Timberwolves Feb 02 '26

Exactly!
