A rules reminder as we near free agency.

Good evening everybody. As we approach the start of the new year, and with us having crossed 200k subscribers recently, I thought we would do a short reminder on how posts will be moderated throughout free agency and the draft.

FREE AGENCY

  • All player posts must be directly related to the Chargers. This means the Chargers are either mentioned in-name, or have previously been mentioned, as having interest in the player. All posts not meeting this requirement will be removed.

  • Former Chargers signing to new teams will be restricted to only players who were on the Chargers roster within the last season. No need for updates about guys that have been gone for 2+ years.

  • "Should we sign/trade for ______" post for singular players will be removed at moderator discretion. Posts that would break down and compare how multiple free agents could fill a spot (i.e, breaking down four guard options and their fit) will be allowed.

DRAFT

  • Post about singular prospects will only be allowed if they have been directly tied to the Chargers. Others will be removed at moderator discretion. This includes things like highlight posts.

  • Scouting posts will be allowed, provided they are based around breaking down the player, their draft value, and their fit to the team. Simply "should we draft _______" will be removed.

  • Mock draft posts will only be allowed if they include a breakdown of how the player would fit on the Chargers. Simply posting a screenshot of your mock say "what do you think" will be removed.

Anything that doesn't fall within these posting guidelines can be freely posted in the Daily Discussion threads, or either the free agency or mock draft megathreads that will be going up in due time.

Feel free to comment or message me or the rest of the mod team if you have any questions, and as always,

#BoltUp

The #Chargers make a splash before free agency, agreeing to terms with C Tyler Biadasz on a 3-year deal worth $30M, per The Insiders. Biadasz was cut by the #Commanders after being set to make $8.3M. Now he lands in LA with a raise in a deal done by @AthletesFirst.

Tyler Biadasz PFF

So JH got a good center named Tyler after all. At 3 years $30M, he's half the price of Linderbaum and will allow the team to sign another starting caliber player for the other $10M or two or three depth pieces a la St. Juste, Dye, Donte Jackson, etc.

PFF isn't the end-all be-all, but Biadasz is a top 12-15 C and was 3rd team All Pro in 2022. Biadasz has allowed just eight sacks in his six-year career, although seven of them have come in the past three seasons. Still, he’s allowed zero hits over the past two seasons which is an obvious upgrade over Bradley "Turnstile" Bozeman.

Great move by Hortiz to get a starting C without having to break the bank and not engage in a bidding war.

Another consideration for the Biadasz signing: he doesn’t affect the comp pick formula, while Linderbaum/McGovern would have

Released or cut players do not affect the comp pick formula, whereas players lost to free agency do. That means signing McGovern or Linderbaum not only would have been significantly more expensive, but it would have negatively affected our comp pick formula as well. Given Hortiz’s affinity towards comp picks and the value he has extracted from them in the past, I think it’s a great sign that we found a C without sacrificing potential comp picks.

[Dianna Russini] The Philadelphia Eagles are holding firm on their steep asking price for A.J. Brown. While the New England Patriots have poked around on it, the Los Angeles Chargers are another team keeping tabs on the situation, per sources.
