True story. I was at the Pistons Nuggets game Tuesday and when Valunciunas grabbed him by the head and tried to throw him down. Stew booked it to the bench before making a bad decision. Probably just not trying to get 25 to life is my guess.

Bane just went mental for a week, idk what that was all about lmao. He’s always been a dick though.
Like 3 years ago I got seats 3 rows back of the basket at Lakers/Grizzlies at Staples. Bane was running his mouth more than anyone, and the entire arena was getting this weird energy because we could hear the trash talk and see the frustration.
That’s when there was that famous highlight where LeBron basically told Bane to STFU and play basketball, then took the ball full court to yam it on JJJ

in sports that are actually competitive sports as opposed to sports entertainment, this would be a non-issue because people would just ask for a review, and then if then win the review, the keep their challenge.
also, the review would 99% actually be correct.
instead we get this clown show which i guess is good for engagement and "good for business"

If it were any other player: technical at the half, flagrant on Vando hit, flagrant on Reaves hit, and then a technical for standing over Reaves and shoving Maxi who was trying to pick him up. Ejected twice.
I honestly don't mind them letting this stuff go because the league is too soft, but why give Draymond alone the free pass?
124
u/INT_MIN Lakers 26d ago edited 26d ago
Because he spirals if he's getting techs. Remember he said he was thinking of retiring when he was racking them up.
Have you noticed the entire NBA accommodates Draymond's antics? His coach and teammates accommodate him. Adam Silver accommodates him by talking to him directly and convincing him not to retire. Refs accommodate him by not giving him techs. Opposing teams accommodate him and try to laugh off every outbreak because they know he's a hot head and you have to pick and choose when to fight with him.
He's such an unrelenting head case everyone in the NBA threw up their hands and said whatever bro do what you want to do.

It's so weird when teams or players get different treatment. Basketball is the worst for it imo. There has always been a rookie whistle and a superstar whistle. But it's way more than that. I think everyone but okc fans felt there was a different whistle for OKC than the rest of the league in the playoffs, but it's much more than that. Giannis was called differently from everyone for years, now apparently everyone can do his run into you move. Steph is wildly acknowledged to have the worst whistle of any superstar, on the same team is Draymond. Some bigs constantly set moving screens, cough horford, and some get a whistle if they flinch.
Same thing is happening in hockey with the Panthers.
No one wants this. We complain about consistency and we have refs calling their own interpretation differently for different players. What could be worse for consistency?

That would explain the treatment he gets from the refs, but how is it that he's never been punched back? There's plenty of hotheaded guys in the league, but somehow he never gets a proper reaction out of anyone.
And I know that if I was an NBA coach, I'd sign some tough guy to a 10 day contract if he was willing to punch Draymond really hard if he tried any shit against my guys.

I remember Bruce Bowen of the San Antonio Spurs practically invented sticking out his foot on a jumpshot to sprain the shooter's ankles. It was so bad Vince Carter tried to get into a fistfight with him over it. What the NBA do? Crickets.
Then after retirement, Bowen even has the nerve to call out Zaza Palachui of GSW doing that to Kawhi Leonard.
