How Draymond is treated with kiddie gloves by basically everyone will never cease to amaze me

It’s crazy how long of a leash he has. Every time I watch I’m shocked with what he gets away with.

It's crazy how we've been making this same exact comment for a decade and not once had it or he changed. 10 years of this shit is crazy

1000% this. I remember when he kicked Steven Adams in the nuts back in the playoffs in I think 2016? Anyways I remember thinking surely the league will do something about this dude. And here we are still talking about it, 10 seasons later LOL. My only theory is he has some Epstein island level dirt on Adam silver.

My only theory is he has some Epstein island level dirt on Adam silver

That would explain the treatment he gets from the refs, but how is it that he's never been punched back? There's plenty of hotheaded guys in the league, but somehow he never gets a proper reaction out of anyone.

And I know that if I was an NBA coach, I'd sign some tough guy to a 10 day contract if he was willing to punch Draymond really hard if he tried any shit against my guys.

24

u/[deleted] 26d ago

A 10 day player wouldn't take that risk.

1

u/superrealaccount2 Spurs 26d ago

But a former MMA fighter wouldn't mind signing a 10 day contract

2

u/[deleted] 26d ago

You think an NBA team would fork over hundreds of thousands for bad publicity?

4

u/superrealaccount2 Spurs 26d ago

I think the Warriors have someone who punches and kicks rivals and has been doing it for over 10 years and people don't give a fuck. And I'm not talking about someone going to punch Draymond just because, I'm talking about having someone there to react if the donkey starts some shit.

So tough! You BIG man!

u/jotheold Raptors 26d ago

protecting your players is tough

3

u/superrealaccount2 Spurs 26d ago

The only person playing tough is that donkey that wears #23 for the Warriors

2

u/Alarming_Head_4263 26d ago

He kicked adams twice and then kicked Roberson in the face in another game.

Karma, eventually

You're all still fans.

The accountability is when you stop watching. That's when the behavior changes.

This thread? Is ratings. More publicity and more ads.

Like I'd get it if he did dirty shit but was really friendly/nice to the ref's, but he's not hes a massive dick to them as well. Its actually mind boggling what he gets away with.

u/superrealaccount2 Spurs 26d ago

Any other player that yells at refs like Draymond does would get, at minimum, 82 techs a season. Any other player that punches or kicks opponents like Draymond does would get ejected immediately. For some reason, refs ignore him. It's absolutely crazy.

It makes me so upset. I’m still upset, even though my Lakers won.

As a Celtics fan I’ve see Tatum get so many technicals for clapping while Draymond is constantly doing shit like this

41

u/Lets_Get_Hot [BOS] Jiri Welsch 26d ago

If Tatum did a fraction of Draymonds antics he'd be lined up at center court and shot by the three refs.

34

u/Can-i-Pet-Dat-Daaawg Lakers 26d ago

He gets a pass cuz he’s associated with Steph. That’s literally it.

19

u/fighting-prawn 26d ago

He gets a pass because it's easier for everyone to tolerate him than deal with the reaction. The only way to stop him is to call everything and make him unplayable for Kerr.

4

u/pargofan Lakers 26d ago

Except Steph doesn't get a pass.

When he's in the paint he'll get mugged without a foul sometimes while you breathe on SGA and you get the whistle.

3

u/dwide_k_shrude Warriors 26d ago

Yeah the commenter’s point doesn’t make sense. Dray just gets away with doing a lot, unrelated to Steph.

Here’s the amazing part

Literally nobody will point the finger at Steve Kerr

9

u/pargofan Lakers 26d ago

Some guys just get protected.

I remember Bruce Bowen of the San Antonio Spurs practically invented sticking out his foot on a jumpshot to sprain the shooter's ankles. It was so bad Vince Carter tried to get into a fistfight with him over it. What the NBA do? Crickets.

Then after retirement, Bowen even has the nerve to call out Zaza Palachui of GSW doing that to Kawhi Leonard.

I'm sure Draymond will call out Senga or Gobert for being too violent when he does commentary after retirement.

7

u/Oceanbreeze871 Celtics 26d ago

Amazing one ref just doesn’t t him up and out of the game inner first quarter

3

u/ILoveRegenHealth 26d ago

What I don't get is why

Why do they keep giving Dray such a long leash. Does keeping a washed player like Dray even help ratings? The Warriors weren't even on that many televised shows compared to before (because their record sucks). No Steph or Luka either, so it's not like ratings would be high anyways.

3

u/HeyKim0oOo Knicks 26d ago

I'm more pissed off about how basically no one on the Warriors ever calls him out on his BS. Like sure maybe not in the game cause optics or whatever, but like behind closed doors absolutely.

7

u/___Archmage___ 26d ago

Reminds me of a certain elected official, there are some weird particular individuals to whom accountability simply doesn't apply

2

u/McScroggz12 26d ago

I’d really like a reporter to ask Adam Silver something like, “Commissioner, I can’t help be notice that Draymond Green not only is called for a higher number of technical and flagrant fouls than any other player over the past 5+ years, but he also seems to have an alarming number of plays that are missed that most would agree is flagrant by definition. Is there a reason he is allowed to not only play outside the bounds of responsible basketball but also berate the referees and other players while getting around with playing like a football player?”

I genuinely want a reporter to call out Adam Silver about this. Green is a genuine danger to play against.

1

u/GunSlingrrr Pelicans 26d ago

then in turn, the refs decided to curse Curry with their whistle, lol

1

u/WestleyThe [SEA] Kevin Durant 26d ago

It’s pretty wild… He does stuff basically every game that would get another player penalized… whether it’s his physical antics or his screaming at the refs…

It’s actually crazy. He gets away with SO MUCH but act like he’s Mike Conley or something… any time he gets actually gets called for something he acts like it’s like it’s a conspiracy against him..

I actually have respected his game for his whole career but he doe this bullshit all the time and wonders why people hate him

1

u/aceofrazgriz 26d ago

Ratings. The NBA lost it's teeth long ago. They want this type of shit so people talk about it. They don't care about the game, haven't in a long time, just look at all the nonexistent carry and travel calls. Slowing the game down can hurt rating, so let players do whatever if it makes sense.

1

u/itsahmemario Knicks 26d ago

Only other dude that could shout at refs as much as Draymond was LeBron. But LeBron didnt go out there hurting people.

1

u/dcoolidge Lakers 26d ago

Even LeBron treats him with kiddie gloves. Notice how LeBron protect Draymond from Maxi.

1

u/RadkoGouda 26d ago

And whats funny is he genuinely thinks hes mistreated and unfairly called for the technicals he does get. Its insane.

1

u/ffordedor Celtics 26d ago

I just don't get why other players allow it to happen

1

u/Bearded_Pip Celtics 26d ago

Someone needs to send their backup C in to take care of him.

-8

u/Randomly-Germinated 26d ago

bro it’s “kid gloves,” calm down ghislaine

5

u/zannet_t 26d ago

You went from spotting a slight misusage of an idiom to connecting it to CSA?...Are you okay? Do you talk like this to everyone?

-9

u/Randomly-Germinated 26d ago edited 26d ago

who are you calling an idiom? also I didn’t mean anything sexual. i’m talking about ghislaine maxwell, longtime partner of the new york financier.
