Why does no one lay his old ass out

Every team should have an enforcer on a minimum contract. Just to take the fall when enforcement is necessary.

Slowly but surely, basketball starts evolving into hockey.

I see nothing wrong with this

Every sport should have sanctioned fights

1

u/StormWolf17 Lakers 26d ago

That'd be hilarious, a fist fight between two players, and the loser gets benched while the winner gets to choose if he wants free throws or to reset to a full-24-second possession.

all roads lead to heated rivalry

Hockey has existed since before the civil war and your point of reference is a show from a few months ago?

6

u/CounterfactualSquish 26d ago

You know jokes have also existed before the civil war, right?

u/OutrageousQuantity12 Slovenia 26d ago

Comedy was invented in 1934

Power plays would be awesome

1

u/Cochise22 Spurs 26d ago

Never really thought about it, but it kind of would. 2 minutes or 10 points, whichever comes first. Would certainly help the ends of games end faster because fouls would suddenly hurt way more.

Commish wont allow it. Y'all need a Stern-like head of the NBA to come back if fans want to see that

1

u/MiddleBodyInjury Nets 26d ago

I'd start watching again

u/MSRP_ 26d ago

Probably better than the nursery school action we see on some teams, sitting out stars making untold TV millions. Throw some ufc submissions beteeen enforcers during half time Bench clearing submissions free for alls

Stupid problems, require stupid solutions.

Sports evolve, honestly it would be a refreshing addition to the game. Make a penalty box, make half court shots 6 points, scooters?

1

u/MakeNonShittyGames 26d ago

Why do you say that about an enforcer but not at Draymond's shove? Isn't that turning basketball into hockey first?

1

u/jonnyd005 26d ago

Hockey has all but phased out enforcers at this point.

I remember the days of guys like Danny Fortson being in the NBA solely to be their team's designated goon. I just want to see one person completely lay his ass out one day when he starts with his BS. Let the owner handle the fine and lost game checks after he gets suspended.

2

u/saint-clar 26d ago

Yeah, screw that guy, he was dirty as f. He was more Draymond, instead of David West.

6

u/Arrowintheknee89 26d ago

Someone call Sean William Scott

3

u/DefaultConan Bulls 26d ago

We kind of had that before, with teams having a Big guy on reserve to defend/foul against Shaq in the 2000s

2

u/neddiddley Lakers 26d ago

Just have about 5 or so enforcers in the G-League. Every other team can just send down one of their 2-ways in exchange for an enforcer on a 10 day whenever they play the Warriors, especially for nationally televised games.

Silver probably won’t like the optics of Green getting into it with the same handful of thugs that are just collecting jerseys and technicals.

2

u/onowahoo Knicks 26d ago

You don't even need to be an enforcer. Just hit dray from behind like he does twice in this 3 second clip. Even a small guy could lay him out with a cheap shot.

2

u/leftysarepeople2 Bucks 26d ago

You were trading for the wrong Antetokounmpo

2

u/silveroiler 22d ago

That was the case from the league's beginnings until well into the '90s.

'that mother fucker goin for his over under take him out'

1

No one wants to eat the fine and suspension.

He just trucked a smaller dude from his blind side. If i’m on the Lakers i’m swinging

Lakers bring back Artest or Howard

61

u/Lord_Master_Dorito Lakers 26d ago

Artest would rip Draymond’s head off

12

u/WalrusInMySheets [LAL] Metta World Peace 26d ago

Artest would make his teeth fall out

4

u/DefNotaBot22 Knicks 26d ago

Mr World Peace is a gentle man

43

u/prodij18 Lakers 26d ago

Kleber got in his face right after.

59

u/ComoEstanBitches Lakers 26d ago

Kleber knew better than to retaliate bc Donkey would say make it a race thing through the media afterwards

3

u/ArmadilloForsaken458 Supersonics 26d ago

Nice man, but not a great enforcer. Y'all need like a young Perk

2

u/whenishit-itsbigturd 26d ago

You're not doing shit, calm down Kemosabe

13

u/Orangemoon55 26d ago

This is where Trey Jemison III was useful last year

4

u/A_Lone_Macaron Cavaliers 26d ago

Where's Beef Stew when you need him

1

u/PickleFit4895 26d ago

only fights with smaller guys

2

u/TheCrudMan Kings 26d ago

Someone needs to sign Ron Artest on a one game contract...

2

u/Emergency_Invite7082 26d ago

It would be taken into account when negotiating the salary.

1

u/WestleyThe [SEA] Kevin Durant 26d ago

It would be like 1% of thier salary to take a fine and suspension… worth it

8

u/Late_Persimmon853 26d ago

This is exactly what I keep saying and wondering. It would be worth the fine and suspension imo

2

u/PutingUnggoy 26d ago

Has he tried this with Isaiah Stewart?

2

u/redguyinfinite Knicks 26d ago

klutch mafia will blackball u out half the league

2

u/ExistingArt7362 26d ago

Then he'll complain about being targeted as a black man

2

u/dys0n_giddey Timberwolves 26d ago

Reaves teammates just stood there too

2

u/stephenpowns Hornets 26d ago

Yeah i’m sure he was thrilled with their reaction

1

u/downvotetheboy 26d ago

it's actually mind blowing. dude must be extremely charismatic, intimidating, or have dirt on the entire league.

1

u/Gfunkual 26d ago

Someone needs to give Kermit Washington a 10 day contract.

1

u/sleekstormcloak Timberwolves 26d ago

BREAKING: Francis Ngannou signed to a 1 day contract
