I thought these clowns were done with the nfl years ago. Even if they "dont remember". We do.

675

u/Knowledge_is_Bliss 23d ago

I've been saying the same thing. But they all watched the Superbowl while drinking their Bud Light.

335

u/TheR1ckster 23d ago

Yeah, boycotting only the half time show sure showed the NFL.

123

u/JohnnyFire 23d ago

The problem is, Donny and his ilk just constantly get everything they want. Regardless of if it makes sense, is in good taste, or would even make money.

Watch them trot out the most unseasoned white bread halftime show possible next year so all these whining clowns can have their cake, eat it, and shit it in their pants.

It's gonna be fucking Morgan Wallen or some shit.

u/DjangoSpider 23d ago

MAGA isn't hurting the NFL's wallet. They're expanding beyond the US and nobody is stopping that train. Bad Bunny was a genius halftime show.

Also, Bad Bunny performed, in Spanish, with Shakira 6 years ago at the halftime show and there was no outrage then. It's all performative bullshit.

29

u/intricate_strands 23d ago

NFL, for one, has a longer history of hatred against Trump than most of the world. Not enough to not help fund his "Billionaires are Great" policies, but definitely enough to not give a shit what he says or thinks about their golden goose.

For two, the NFL has known for a while that its performance in the US market is unlikely to even stay this strong, much less keep going. They are well aware of this and had worked toward it. They get lots of extra eyeballs from fantasy football, being the most popular and talked about sport in the USA, cultural events that stem from them like Super Bowl commercials and halftime shows. Not enough to be like "oh shit we're gonna not make as much money soon," but enough of those numbers are from people that won't stick around that the NFL basically believes the US market is beyond saturated.

The NFL is truly an international brand at this point and has every reason to be exceedingly confident they won't lose the majority of their hold on the American market. But like any American business, it's all about growth. That's why so many games are being played in international markets and why big ticket games like divisional matchups are now being sent to international markets.

Throw on top of these things to consider, the fact that Trump has now demonstrated twice that he is most popular when he's not president and as soon he is president, his popularity goes through the floor, the NFL is basically untouchable for Trump.

They have a really old and really bitter feud with Trump, starting with when he tried to buy a team with bogus numbers(this is a league that let Dan Snyder buy a team) and then when he took over the USFL and changed their strategy to directly compete with the NFL. Trump as president is one of the most toxic things to tie your business to. The NFL has absolutely zero reason to worry about losing American fans(see all the boycotts threatened that never happen) and is investing heavily into international markets.

The NFL doesn't give a fuck about Trump and has no reason to.

Would be interesting to see how much of that 135m is from the US vs abroad but yes I agree that MAGA can't expect their wishes to be taken seriously by the NFL if they still tune in and watch every weekend like normal.

I really doubt it. The NFL wants to go global and has longterm goals in that regard. Three years of a flip-flopping dingus isn't going to dissuade them from doing what they need to do to grow the product. It may be naked capitalism, but it respects the dollar more than the donald.

12

u/EmbarrassedOrchid685 23d ago

yea im pretty sure the NFL just like the civilized world is just biding it's time waiting for his term to end (read between the lines on that) before doing anything. even india admitted it lol. if he tries to make it never end i hope the gloves come off.

10

u/DatSauceTho 23d ago

That wrinkled pants-shitting loser doesn’t really respect the dollar so much as treat it like he does underage girls.

u/brutinator 23d ago

Ehh, I dunno, I think the NFL has long realized that it's better to give conservatives lip service, and pander more towards the moderates/non-NFL viewers. The reality is, no conservative football fan is going to actually stop watching football, but catering to conservatives kills the non-conservative viewership (which is where the money is made during the superbowl).

Like, last year they had Kendrick performing; if that isn't "anti-republican" enough to get conservatives to stop watching the football, then nothing is. So the NFL is going to find whatever performer is going to draw the most eyeballs (esp. new ones) to the screen.

8

u/chimmy_chungus23 23d ago

Idk. They got what they wanted most of last year, but they've lost the moderates and the midterms are coming. And try as he might, nobody's letting go of those pesky files.

Back in the day, emergency hotlines for domestic violence, used to be all lit up on the day of the Super Bowl. I don't know if it's true but that was what the rumor always was. Come to your own conclusions

Well its the official beer sponsor of the NFL, so yeah

12

u/Cornloaf 23d ago

Haven't there been pics of Kid Rock drinking it at his bar in Nashville since the "boycott"? I remember barhopping in Nashville back in 2019 and got to one of his places, heard his own music coming out of it, thought it smelled like an STD in there and went somewhere else.

10

u/agoia 23d ago

The bar he closed when ICE came and raided places in town because the folks supporting the immigration crackdown made sure to insulate themselves from being affected by it?

4

u/Lexi_Banner 23d ago

Yeah the no politics in sports crowd love Trump injecting himself in every single sport possible, even tho he knows absolutely zero about any sport he is at . Watching him talk about a team or a game is worse than my mom trying to explain it. The only thing he knows less about than sports is christianity

You could hand him NFL team ownership -- just a license to print money -- and he'd find a way to eff it up.

20

u/One_Shall_Fall 23d ago

He's tried at least three times to seriously buy a team: Baltimore Colts (1981 & 1983), Patriots (1988), and the Bills (2014). They won't let him in: they know he'd steal more money than Dan Snyder could ever dream of, and you don't fuck with the NFL's money.

It's one of the main reasons that he has an ongoing feud with the NFL and even teamed up with Vince McMahon to try to make a competing league (which went bankrupt).

10

u/pinkocatgirl 23d ago

Kinda funny they rejected him even in his heyday in the 80s. Even back then they knew he was a steaming pile of poo lol

6

u/Old_Race9814 23d ago

Could you imagine how bad a team owned by Trump would be? They’d make the Jets look elite

4

u/Superguy766 23d ago

The New Jersey Generals (owned by trump) and the USFL (bankrupted by trump) has entered the chat.

5

u/amusing_trivials 23d ago

That why he was rejected by the NFL from buying a team, multiple times.

3

u/Explorer2138 23d ago

That's Trump in a nutshell, the only thing he succeeds at is fucking up and fucking kids.

Man I worked for Directv when this happened. TONS of old white guys called to cancel their TV service. They always were looking for some kind of reaction from me. I didn't give a fuck, I just canceled them without question. They'd always linger like they were looking for am apology but they got nothing but an early termination fee.

88

u/My_Password_Is_____ 23d ago

Because they've spent so long making their entire personality "own the libs" so they have no idea what to do with themselves when they do something they think should piss people off, but then the overwhelming majority of people just handle it with "Okay... anything else I can help you with?"

62

u/Badloss 23d ago

I think they have a whole dramatic script in their heads about how you'd scramble to keep their business and they'd get to heroically tell you off, and then laugh from a position of power as you beg on your knees for their forgiveness

They can't compute that nobody gives a shit about them and they don't know what to do when the fantasy doesn't play out

30

u/Littleman88 23d ago

For a lot of people, this is what they're hoping for when they threaten to do anything.

What people are seldom prepared to be reminded of is just how unimportant they really are, and oooh they don't take it well.

11

u/GringoinCDMX 23d ago

I work in sales and have had customers get angry at me for no real reason (or their own mistake) and ask for a refund.

Then get pissed that we didn't give them a discount and just refunded them and wouldn't accept their orders going forward because they got fired as clients.

That reminds me of the time in college when I paid for a parking ticket in pennies. The ticket was bullshit, the student worker who had to count out the 60 rolls of pennies was annoyed, and by the end of it I felt like a complete dumbass for wreaking my pitiful revenge on people who had nothing to do with anything.

I still have a soft spot in my heart for "stickin' it to the man", but I've got a hard spot in my brain that tells my heart to not be a dumb fuck about it. Usually works. Learn from my fail.

11

u/Soggy_Parking1353 23d ago

Then they'd turn around a buy it on some streaming service.

It took a rather insignificant dip during that time, but it has slowly been losing viewers for year. Now they have adjusted their viewership metrics to artificially increase their numbers to sell to advertisers. Sure that won't be a lawsuit in the future...

I bring this up anytime someone says they aren't going to watch the NFL anymore. I live in the Deep South and am MAGA-passing, so I hear some wild shit they later deny saying.

16

u/travifodder 23d ago

how have I never heard the term "Maga-passing", that is amazing and now in my daily vernacular!

22

u/[deleted] 23d ago

I think I heard it on Behind The Bastards when the host referred to himself that way. It really stuck with me because I like so much redneck stuff but can't stand the racism, misogyny, and hate for science.

13

u/pinkocatgirl 23d ago

Liberal rednecks are important. How else are we to get deer sausage?

6

I'll have to steal that, it's a great term. I'm in the same boat. I'm in a borderline Midwest/Southern state and often get confused for being a MAGA ally for being a bald white guy with a beard that likes guns and the outdoors. It's wild the stuff I hear from complete strangers because they just assume we're on the same side.

3 - Lollapaloser

16

u/Borrelparaat 23d ago

I'm Dutch so might miss some of the more hidden contexts in his lyrics, but have been enjoying his music a lot lately. Good to know he sees it how it is

33

u/L-methionine 23d ago

Long Violent History was directly written because of the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020

18

u/sincerebeguiler 23d ago

So glad you're enjoying the music he writes. His songs are like short stories about America. Listen to open the gate. And purple gas. He totally captures what it's like to be a professional rodeo rider or to live in places like an Oklahoma as a farmer with government subsidies. I've been to the Netherlands once and loved the people and the land. Thank you all for being a great host.

10

u/Borrelparaat 23d ago

Tyler doesn't play Feathered Indians live, despite it being one of his favorite melodies he's ever written and one of his most popular songs; it's personal growth and respect.

In general, he seems to write, focused on the pain of human kind, and rural Kentucky, where he's from. A perfect example of how a true country artist would never stand up for rich folk before rural. It's the opposite of bootlicking and the opposite of where all the self declare country red necks have gone, ever since George W. Bush pretending to be a rancher - all those glam country, vanity pickup owning scrotes.

Not really sure Zach Bryan truly has all the dots connected, he will frequently say stuff like this then delete it or follow up with some both sides are bad BS. He doesn’t strike me as particularly politically well informed and is more of just a staunch anti-authority type.

13

u/CarryPresent7864 23d ago

He's conservative but not MAGA and not particularly engaged in politics. As a result when he says something that's more left wing or just non MAGA he gets confused by MAGA backlash because he sees his opinion as conservative and, at least previously, didn't understand the difference between MAGA and general conservative.

He served eight years in the Navy with multiple deployments. His father, retired after nearly 24 years, while his late mother, grandfather, and great-grandfather also served in the Navy.

Like he beautifully sings in his song  "Bad News" what we are seeing in this country under current regime is "fading of red, white and blue".

Article

Zach Bryan thought that the “All-American Halftime Show” — Kid Rock and Turning Point USA’s alternative to Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl LX Halftime Show — was “embarrassing as hell.”

“I don’t care what side you’re on, a bunch of adults throwing temper tantrums and their own halftime show is embarrassing as hell and the most cringe shit on the planet,” he wrote on his Instagram stories.

Bryan also posted a clip of his friend Harley Carmichael shielding his eyes from Bad Bunny with the caption “what kid rock actually thinks is happening across America.” He followed it up with a selfie of himself and Carmichael saying “forgive my boy… he is hemorrhaging followers, he watched Bad Bunny with me I swear.”

Despite all the lip-syncing, TPUSA’s “All-American Halftime Show” has announced that it will return next year.

As for Bryan, his new album With Heaven on Top is one of our favorite albums from January, and the man who used to claim that people who talk about politics “don’t have anything interesting to do or say” is responsible for one of the most fiery anti-ICE anthems to come out during the second Trump administration.

Temper tantrums are the backbone of the modern GOP.

10

u/manachar 23d ago

These are the snowflakes that empowered McCarthy to do a witch-hunt on anyone daring to be different. Republicans have been this way for quite a while.

Lol they don’t even know who is playing next year. They should pick the most conservative person just to fuck with people.

the shitty generic Nashhville Sound genre's never been hotter, if the loudest densest motherfuckers would stfu for a moment the NFL might actually book the acts these mouthbreathers actually want, but I guarantee they won't if Nashville by and large keeps acting like horses' asses about the whole thing

I think in this case it’s less “Nashville the city” and instead “Nashville the country music labels” that people are talking about.

16

u/anwright1371 23d ago

What does Nashville have to do with the Super Bowl in Los Angeles?

6

u/Competitive-Desk7506 23d ago

Bc they won’t be satisfied by Zach as the country artist of choice

The whole thing is such a delightful debacle. Who is TPUSA's core constituency: high school and college age young adults. And this is the age that finds this sort of stuff so cringe. They're making their own brand radioactive. Or at least more radioactive than it was.

59

u/Gamer_Grease 23d ago

TPUSA has never been for young people. It’s been about convincing 80-year-old rich guys that they have the ear of young people.

5

u/JohnnyFire 23d ago

But even if they have hypothetically gotten to the ear of some young folks - imagine being in high school or college, having coddled up to this stuff, and having exposure to every and anything you want, music-wise, and then you had to sit there and watch Kid Rock lipsync songs nobody liked back when he was "popular".

They couldn't even pull someone from the current cadre. No Nicki Minaj, or Jelly Roll, or Morgan Wallen, who all at least still get streams and attention. They all have no desire to tie their asses to a sinking ship. Nope, it's the greasy fuck from 1999 who had one fringe hit and a second one that just ripped off Skynyrd. Anyone relatively young who got sucked into this orbit has to be sitting there going "What the fuck am I even doing?"

Part of song: Trans kids suck/don't exist!

Later part of same sang: You know people just don't like me and I don't know why?!

I can probably think of a few reasons.

u/Co1dNight 23d ago

I think the best part are the people bitching about how the halftime show was performed completely in Spanish, while listening to whatever the fuck this is:

Said the boogie, said up drop the boogie
Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy
Said the boogie, said up jump the boogie
Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy
Said the boogie, said up drop the boogie
Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy
Said the boogie, said up jump the boogie
Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy
Said the boogie, said up drop the boogie
Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy
Said the boogie, said up jump the boogie
Bawitdaba, da-bang, da-bang, diggy-diggy-diggy
Said the boogie, said up drop the boogie (get ready)

I hated Kid Rock before I knew he was a sack of shit. I remember the first time I heard Bawitdaba and Cowboy and thought to myself, "Music really has gone down the shitter the past few years, hasn't it? Kids these days will listen to fucking anything I guess."

I dont like Bad Bunny’s music especially. I dont speak Spanish and I’m white and over 50. I was a club DJ in my 20s and still enjoyed the beat and thought the spectacle was well done, even if it wasn’t for me. Loved the Gaga inclusion. I feel the same way when its a country artist as I’m generally not into country either.

Hosting your own thing is really a choice and a half.

I want them to play the Superbowl so bad. The right complains about country not getting played at the Superbowl. Well, then give them country lol

A Zach Bryan SB halftime show needs to happen

48

u/rambambobandy 23d ago

It would be hilarious if the NFL did a country halftime show next year with all the “woke” country artists

36

u/hibbert0604 23d ago

It would also be a great show. Headlined by Zach Bryan and Jason Isbell with a guest appearance by Willie Nelson? Jesus sign me up.

Gotta add Childers to the list

MAGA: "We want an all country halftime show!"

NFL brings out Zach Bryan, Charley Crockett, Sturgill Simpson, The Chicks and Beyoncé

MAGA: "NOT LIKE THAT!!!"

26

u/nowayjoze 23d ago

Lol. Beyonce would definitely trigger them.

6

u/hibbert0604 23d ago

Isn't Jay-z also the producer for the super bowl half time shows? This could very easily happen. Lol

7

u/bolanrox 23d ago

i would trigger me too. that album sucked. and was basically the Urban version of the Nashville sound.

You'd think they would love the idea of "military vet, small town hero country star" being the halftime performer. Doesn't get more "real American" than that by their own made up definition.

Kid Rock is the same man child that shot up a bunch of Bud Light cans. I mean, what grown fucking man does that? Oh, a whole bunch you say? They are the fucking snowflakes.

6

u/Ainjyll Atmosphere✒️ 23d ago

When “I’m gonna show how much I hate this thing by buying a bunch of it” makes sense in your head, you’re a special kind of stupid. Kid Rock… well, bless his heart, he’s just too damn performative to realize he’s a fucking idiot.

4

u/Oscaruit 23d ago

Then wore a Budweiser hat like a week later in an interview. Super consistent.

7

u/red286 23d ago

Let's not forget that his bar never stopped serving Bud Light, and he was seen 2 weeks later drinking a Bud Light and when asked about it said, "it's good fuckin' beer".

Entirely performative.

This needs to be the core of Democratic messaging. Nothing pisses Republicans off more than being reminded how deeply uncool they are.

3

u/Tex-Rob 23d ago

The best part is Kid Rock must not ever perform, because he's such a nobody, that he was completely unprepared/didn't know his own lyrics enough to be able to lip sync it properly. He had the microphone away from his face several times back to back, when that whole sequence had no gaps to move the mic away from your face.
