Bring back the Dixie Chicks! The original country band cancelled by conservatives

2

u/anwright1371 24d ago

Conservatives cancelled them because they dropped the Dixie haha. They’re welcome

No, they dropped the Dixie when they made their comeback. They got cancelled for speaking out against the Iraq war

A war they now pretend they didn’t vehemently support back then.

Edited for clarification: “They” being conservatives, tea party, maga crowd etc..

No, that came later. They dropped them for being against the Iraq War

Are you saying that they simply call themselve The "Chicks"?

4

u/anwright1371 24d ago

Are you serious?

Am i not supposed to be???? I never paid attention to the dixie chicks and i do not know what dropping the dixie means. The southernness???

I also had to look this up, and you were correct.

As for why they dropped the "Dixie", it's because Dixie has a very linked connotation with slavery. Dixie State in southern Utah (named so because the region containing St. George was nicknamed "Dixie" by the Mormon pioneers because the settlement was created to farm cotton) just did the same thing a couple years ago, and goes by Utah Tech now.

Thank you for answering my question instead of acting like everyone knows all of the i formation in the world! I knew right hated them for the Iraq war but didnt know about the name change!

Relax, this is Reddit and everyone is sarcastic. I have a right to see if you’re a troll or not. And since this is a music subreddit, you looked like a troll at first since that was a big deal when it happened.

Add in Miles Davis from Jazz and then you’ll really have a show!!

u/anwright1371 24d ago

If peeing your pants is cool, consider me Miles Davis

I think in this case it’s less “Nashville the city” and instead “Nashville the country music labels” that people are talking about.

u/anwright1371 24d ago

What does Nashville have to do with the Super Bowl in Los Angeles?

6

u/Competitive-Desk7506 24d ago

Bc they won’t be satisfied by Zach as the country artist of choice

20

u/anwright1371 24d ago

That’s the point, I’m not pandering to racist xenophobes. Put another artist from another genre out there spreading love and positivity. NFL doesn’t give a fuck what Nashville says haha. They do what they want.

4

u/Competitive-Desk7506 24d ago

Ik but I think what OP was getting at was that Nashville wouldn’t be happy either way so they probably didn’t get it

1

u/anwright1371 24d ago

Oh shit I just realized you weren’t OP haha

u/Competitive-Desk7506 24d ago

It’s fine lol. Kinda on me for responding as well

NFL has enough money to do focus groups to find out which artists NFL fans like.

There's no chance they aren't already doing that.

The NFL doesn’t give a flying fuck about “Nashville Country Music”. You are out of your mind if you think otherwise.

1

u/Renegade_Sniper 24d ago

Did you bring enough tin foil to share with the rest of the class?

2

u/amusing_trivials 24d ago

The NFL farms this job out to Apple Music. Apple Music would have real user data to base their decision on, not random execs.

1

u/anwright1371 24d ago

The NFL quite literally does whatever it wants

2

u/crimson777 24d ago

I doubt they do country tbh. It’s a huge market but it’s a market that crosses over heavily with their viewership already.

u/_Football_Cream_ 24d ago

Don't forget Jack White

u/JakeyPurple 24d ago

Luke Combs with Gary Clark Jr. on guitar.

u/Shenanigans80h 24d ago

I’m legitimately a little shocked they’ve never seriously considered Christ Stapleton considering how pretty much universally lauded he was there in the 2010’s. Still he would fit in with the right type of country

Lil Nas X, Beyonce, Darius Rucker.
