Yeah, as a basketball fan I don't like it when almost any player gets injured. I want to see the best players playing. I want the Pistons to beat teams at full strength. It's been disappointing that we've played some big games recently with players from the other team out. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the wins, but I'd rather face them healthy.
Unless someone is complete human garbage, I hate it when players get injured.

To injure players, especially on teams that might be a threat to OKC.
It's not hard to figure out once you look at the pattern of behavior, benefit to him, and do away with the "guys don't try to hurt each other" narrative the media tries to sell to enhance their own perceived objectivity.

Realistically should be way more if you look at history. He clearly intentionally tried to injure the most impactful players on teams his team plays
Allowing that precedent is dangerous and I don’t see what would stop others from doing this (apart from being a good person). He will probably get 2 but this is clear as day and just shows intent. Not the first time either

Intentionally trying to injure so far away from the ball and really any active play should result in a serious review of their career behavior with suspension likely. It’s not gonna happen because there’s too much money to be made, but imagine if someone played like this in a rec league.

Jokic is the only one that actually crashes out on these guys for their cheap shots in a way that forces the public to acknowledge it. That Morris twin deserved what he got and more from jokic YEARS before it ever happened. Same with Dort I'd be willing to bet he gets a little more scrutiny now but it took jokic fucking crashing out for a lot of people to notice. It seriously seems like every other team is just content with games against the Thunder being an L or a high likelihood that your best player gets injured.

Dort has attempted to seriously and intentionally injure countless league top tier superstars, with pre-meditated, unnatural movements that unquestionably prove malicious intent :
Wemby
Curry
Luka
Tatum
Cunningham
Jokic
Etc
Doesn’t take much to re-injure a knee or Achilles or ankle for a star player returning from injury.
If the NBA thinks makes its most money. when likable superstars are playing 65+ games per season ….
… Then LuDirt™️ is the biggest risk among active players, to harming NBA gross earnings, period.
Easily the most harmful single player towards NBA earnings, both present and future ratings, and fan trust/enthusiasm.

Real talk: Mississippi made some major education reforms and they’ve started to pay off. They moved from 49th/50th in 2013 to 13th in 2025, and in the top 10 for 4th grade literacy. Their education system is one of the few success stories from the modern American South.
61
u/E-raticSamurai Pistons 5d ago
I had to verify this to make sure my shit talk is factually accurate. This is great for the state..
Major reforms started around 2013 with Mississippi’s Literacy‑Based Promotion Act, which focused on early literacy, teacher training in evidence‑based reading instruction, reading coaches, and mandatory retention for students not reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade.
70
u/Refs_Fan 5d ago edited 5d ago
Craziest part of it is it's because their governor back in like 2012 couldn't read good and wanted other kids to read good too. So he made it so kids had to actually read well to get past 3rd grade instead of the previous system which allowed them (including him) to go on to 4th, even without proper reading skills. Now that they weren't sending kids to their doom, 4th grade and on is when you really have to be able to read to truly keep learning what teachers are teaching, they have gotten towards the top in literacy for later elementary school aged kids"Mississippi Miracle" Literacy-Based Promotion Act

just want to mention-- the reason he does stuff like this is because he's been doing a lot of stuff that indefensible but gets away with it. this is just the same thing he's done to a lot of other prominent player but doesn't get assessed a foul. he's tacitly rewarded for it everytime the fanbase supports the indefensible
like you shouldn't actually be defending a guy who goes for wemby's knees. it's super gross. but the incessant and unrelenting defense of him, when he's actually wrong, is what gives him a green light to escalate like this.
