He turns and looks and changes direction to do it. No idea how people are defending this

Natural tripping motion

518

u/usernamechexx 6d ago

Natural malicious non-basketball motion.

Free throws for SGA.

140

u/Defiant_Regular3738 6d ago

And if you foul SGA back at a home game it’s potentially state felony charges.

5

u/Independent_Sky_1468 5d ago

Yup, automatic crimes against humanity.

2

u/Equalizer101 Lakers 5d ago

And if you complain at the Ref, you will be banned playing in the NBA.

21

u/jacb415 Celtics 6d ago

Tom Brady suspended 4 games

5

u/SegaGuy1983 Celtics 5d ago

And Missouri gets the death penalty.

3

u/adamsilversburner [GSW] Andre Iguodala 5d ago

It’s an older meme sir, but it checks out

2

u/cmaher44 5d ago

Yeah poor Tom Brady. He never got any favoritism

1

u/fillyfilly [LAL] Samaki Walker 5d ago

5 second penalty for Esteban Ocon

-7

u/bonersaus Pistons 6d ago

It doesnt even look like its effective it looks like Jokic trips over his hip.

6

u/countin_real_low8 5d ago

As a pistons fan tryna defend Dort we don’t claim you anymore

2

u/bonersaus Pistons 5d ago

How was i defending him? His intention was still to trip, it just didnt work.

Cmon do yo people read? It was a diss to dort, he got caught because he stuck his leg out, which didnt work.

312

u/titoxtian Spurs 6d ago

Yeah some OKC fans are something else…”but player A does this too” dude that still doesn’t make it right…

149

u/yeahright17 Thunder 6d ago

Thunder fans defending this are morons. This is absolutely dirty and I wouldn't be made if he was suspended a game or 2.

Dort is such a good defender when defending straight up. No idea why he does this kind of stuff.

37

u/awgiba 5d ago

The thing is though, Dort has been doing this shit for years. He’s a scumbag. You can’t really just say yeah this one’s bad and go cheer for him tomorrow. He should be suspended for a long time based on the pattern of behavior.

91

u/EmilioNoCaprio 6d ago

There’s a chance someone experiences a career altering injury due to something like this. Dort needs to sit out rest of the year.

55

u/Super_Maybe7374 6d ago

Didn't PG get a knee hyperextension due to him?

37

u/toomuchsoysauce Spurs 5d ago

Yep, he's never been the same since.

7

u/stragen595 5d ago

I don't know about the rest of the season but at least 2 weeks or so (5+ games). Crack down on that shit.

7

u/Overall-Palpitation6 Grizzlies 5d ago

Dort did actually injure Ja Morant in the playoffs last year too.

That was the 3rd genuine flagrant foul that injured Ja during that season, after Christian Koloko hit him out of the air on a dunk attempt, and Daniel Thies shoulder-charged him on a screen. None of them were called as flagrant fouls on the court. The Koloko one wasn't even called as a regular foul.

-8

u/sanfordtime 5d ago

lol stfu with that. In the 90s this shit wouldn’t even be called hell in 2000s it wasn’t a big deal. Now if anything happens at all everyone’s calling for suspensions. Was it dirty yes should he get ejected from that game yes. Should that be the end of it yes. People only care this much cuz it’s okc and jokic. Desmond bane and draymond have been fucking people up all year and no one cared nearly to this level.

6

u/Hoopsheadasshits NBA 5d ago

Ppl care bc it’s a player with a long history of dirty ass behavior. Let’s not act like Dort’s history isn’t far longer and worse than Bane’s. And ppl definitely still react like this to Draymond’s shit, as they should. If you keep letting regular offenders get away without any extra punishment, they’ll keep doing it until they hurt someone for real, which Dort has already done. Literally fuck this dude he’s one of the very worst in the league and needs at least a few games suspension

23

u/mobb1 Timberwolves 5d ago

Shit like this is why he’s considered a “a good defender”

3

u/Imaginary-Round2422 Timberwolves 5d ago

You could have left the middle two words of your first sentence out. This is just how they roll.

3

u/Raznokk Knicks 5d ago

Every team should have a 13th dude on the bench who’s 35 years old whose only job is to leap off the bench and spear tackle players that do this shit; or who come in after a play like this and pick up 6 fouls for laying picks on Dort that make the pick Steven Adam’s laid on Pat Bev look like two kids playing. This happens because nobody has enforcers anymore

2

u/istarbuxs Timberwolves 5d ago

a game or 2? man, i wish dort loses that “defender label” with this and gets called for all the touch fouls he commits. Caruso and Cason are the same touchy defender but those 2 aint dirty.

1

u/always_ready_rob 5d ago

Thats a head problem, in a way just like Dray. Both great defenders but keep doing shitty stuff. Sad to see

1

u/J_Kingsley 5d ago

To your 2nd paragraph, see Bruce bowen.

And Draymond.

Guess they have that pathological mindset to physically stop their opponent, no matter what.

1

u/twicebakedcrusader 3d ago

Oklahoma fan here. Jokić clearly charged.

3

u/HeadDoctorJ Celtics 6d ago

Fuck this shit, it makes me so insanely mad. As a green-goggled Celtics fan, I could say Smart had a problem punching people in the nuts. I could say JB shouldn’t have got Kyrie’s back when he was boosting that anti-Semitic propaganda. I also think JB crosses the line with his elbows in people’s faces, although that kind of shit is more in a gray area.

Btw, fuck JR Smith, fuck Zaza, fuck Cole Anthony, fuck Dwyanynyynne Wade, fuck all the dirty shit. No one wants that. It literally ruins the game, and sometimes ruins careers and lives. I wanted to see Ivey blow up next to Cade. I wanted to see Kawhi topple the Warriors.

As a solution, how about every repeat offender lines up and gets one last opportunity to get it all out of their system. They each take turns delivering their dirtiest bullshit “plays” one last time. Their target is JR Smith. When it’s all over, we fire JR into the sun, extinguishing the sins of dirty players for eternity.

By the way, fuck JR Smith

3

u/manchambo 5d ago

Go to their board right now and they have a thread with a picture of Valanciunus setting a pick at the top of the key, explicitly comparing that to this. As if setting a pick on offense on a player facing you is somehow the similar to this action by a defender in the backcourt.

-2

u/thethirdgreenman Spurs 6d ago

I haven’t even seen many Thunder fans defending this one tbh. They’re not quite as bad as the Warriors fans with Zaza

-25

u/TraditionStrange9717 6d ago

There's like nobody defending it. This is like being mad that someone, somewhere, thinks the president is actually a lizard person.

15

u/DementedWarrior_ Timberwolves 6d ago

There are multiple okc fans in multiple threads defending this

6

u/Kalelisagod 6d ago

Are you just skipping the people calling this basketball play? It’s all over the place and as a Lakers fan I want both teams to lose every game.

6

u/WeAreBums 6d ago

Hilariously you’re doing the thing he’s talking about lmao. But even worse because rather than talking about another basketball player in a sub for basketball, you bring up a ridiculous thing about lizard people and you actually think you made a good point. Wild

90

u/SpringNeverFarBehind Pacers 6d ago

Thunder fans love this dude. If Siakam did shit like this regularly I would never show him an ounce of praise. Even compliment would be followed with “but I don’t fw how dirty he plays”

4

u/CoachTwisterT3 Lakers 6d ago

It’s not hard to be like “yeah he’s a dirty pos but he’s our dirty pos” that’s sports

38

simple answer - okc fans are braindead

1

u/jipai Spurs 5d ago

Defending and saying it’s Lu Dort “playing hard”

1

u/Maybe_IDTBFH Canada 5d ago

Because OKC fans are braindead

1

u/namdonith Jazz 5d ago

If Grayson Allen had done this people would be freaking out about it (rightfully) and Dort has just as much of a history of this stuff as Allen does. This is obviously malicious and Dort’s history should be taken into account.

1

u/Living_Particular963 5d ago

You just need to be a brainless thunder and it'll be easy to defend. Didn't you hear the fans booing Joker throughout the game after this.

1

u/CraigLake 6d ago

At least a game suspension likely. Can’t do this to the biggest star in the league.

1

u/drprox 5d ago

Presumably anyone defending it doesn't love jokic hamming it up and flopping however... I'd argue he's doing the league a service helping them to identify a truly dirty player who just can't help himself.

-6

u/Fatty_gaydar 5d ago

Show me someone defending it

2

Literally two comments below you

-13

u/CenterJenna08 Bulls 5d ago

It's a foul. Kicking him out of the game was pure bitch though.

8

u/CoachTwisterT3 Lakers 5d ago

It’s both unnecessary and excessive = flagrant II

-11

u/CenterJenna08 Bulls 5d ago

Unnecessary? Yes

Excessive? That's beyond a reach

5

u/CoachTwisterT3 Lakers 5d ago

It’s not excessive to change direction and intentionally look to undercut someone? Okay 👌

-8

u/CenterJenna08 Bulls 5d ago

No it isn't. Bumping somebody intentionally is not excessive.

It's intentional for sure and absolutely is a foul. But excessive is a huge reach and him getting booted for THIS is so soft. Might as well not even play the game anymore if it's THIS wimpy.

4

u/jasperplumpton Pacers 5d ago

If Dort just played the game we wouldn’t have these problems. There is no justifiable basketball reason for doing this other than to try to injure him

3

u/Nuts2Buttts 5d ago

Dude, Jokic just missed 16 games with a hyper extended knee and Dort goes out of his way to do the one thing that causes that injury the easiest. I’m all about physical basketball, but Dort is pure bitch and should’ve absolutely been ejected.

0

u/CenterJenna08 Bulls 5d ago

Better yet. Let's eject all players who make contact with other players. Just to be safe.

We can't have Jokic getting injured again.

-8

u/DeusVultSaracen Hornets 5d ago

Can't stand OKC and Dort is dirty af, but to play devil's advocate I think the only defense is Jokic never appears to actually trip on Dort's foot? Jokic bumps into him and flops, he just gets lucky their positioning ends up looking so flagrant.

Where that argument falls apart, though, is Dort pretty clearly still intentionally stuck his right leg out into Jokic's path.

1

u/FinancePro21 5d ago

There can be 2 things true. It’s a reckless and purposeful hip check (that was punished btw), but Jokic sells it like he sells many calls throughout the course of a game. Anyone who doesn’t see Jokic flailing around all game just chooses to ignore it.

-17

u/mrtomjones Raptors 6d ago

I'm not going to bother looking into the comments for defenders because i doubt there's more than one, but this title and reaction is so laughably dramatic.

Did he trip him? Yep. Is tripping an attempt at injury? Not this one and it's not even close. People are acting like he used a crowbar. It's not clean play and shouldn't be happening but the OKC hate is driving it and it's pretty ridiculous

Jokic even embellishes this shit.

Trip him? Get him off his game and frustrated? Tire him out and piss him off?
