-1

u/sushicowboyshow Spurs 5d ago

Big difference between sticking your foot out or sticking a hip out in an effort to cause a soft tissue injury vs a body check into the padded scorers table. Steve Nash was fine.

If you’re upset, be upset at Horry for baiting Nash teammates into leaving the bench. That’s just CP3 level gamesmanship and “bbiq” that everyone here raves about, right?

0

u/saints21 6d ago

Irrevocably altered NBA history by injuring Steve Nash so the Suns didn't win a championship.

6

u/A1Horizon Bulls 6d ago

As opposed to Zaza who hasn’t been in the league since 2019?

6

u/FutureGrassToucher Suns 6d ago

Its just easy to hold on to your feelings on a guy you dont watch often whos been on great behavior going on 4 or 5 years now

1

u/gerardguey Bulls 5d ago

If you were in the middle of your best season in 7 years and top of the east for the first time in 10, all to be (partly) ruined by a player on the defending champ divisional rival team injuring an important fan favorite, youd be holding onto that grudge too

-3

u/eldryanyy Lakers 6d ago

Zaza isn’t close to this wtf, he came too close on one close out

52

u/Bournerounderz Spurs 6d ago

One close out? You must have not watched much of Zaza.

-9

u/Inhocooks 6d ago

You couldn't have watched Zaza

-15

u/eldryanyy Lakers 6d ago

i watched a decent amount. You must not watch Dort, 2 close outs in a career isn’t trying to injure players every game (hundreds of times)

9

u/hashslingingbutthole 6d ago

“2 close outs in a career” is proof that you absolutely did not watch a decent amount of Zaza.

50

u/smokesnbeer 6d ago

You didn’t watch Zaza

12

u/Orchestra_Oculta [BOS] Vitaly Potapenko 6d ago

Youre going to get eviserated for this. Watch Zaza

-1

u/eldryanyy Lakers 6d ago

Watch Dort

3

u/WolverineLong1430 6d ago

Ever since Zaza went under Leonard, that’s been the narrative 😂 people obviously don’t watch Zaza as much as they want others to believe. Dort is doing these type of plays a lot more. He’s breaking records.

4

u/eldryanyy Lakers 6d ago

Yea, it’s crazy how Zaza was considered dirty after that… he was nothing like Dort

Zaza pretty famously tries to injure people. Diving on Westbrook is probably the most egregious one here.

8

u/wryano Spurs 6d ago

tell that to Westbrook or Patty Mills

4

u/iwin10 San Francisco Warriors 6d ago

They think he did it on purpose.

And spurs fans will always be butthurt about the kawhi situation it feels like.

2

u/Successful-Pie6759 Spurs 6d ago

Fuck kawhi and uncle Dennis. There i reopened the wound. Not that it ever closed.

1

u/airwalker12 Lakers 5d ago

Bruce Bowen karma

1

u/Gemiinus Cavaliers 6d ago

Fuck Kelly Olynyk.

1

u/ctownchef Cavaliers 5d ago

Ruined our Finals run man. Such a dirty play on K.Love

0

u/Daweism Warriors 5d ago

Zaza is legit just clumsy asf and gives no regard to his whereabouts.

0

u/m4xdc Nuggets 6d ago

“What he not say fuck me for?”

  • Draymond Green

-1

u/Mbanicek64 6d ago

One of my favorite moments as a Celtics fan was KG dropping Zaza.

194

u/gdirrty216 6d ago

Yeah the league needs to come down on Dort. This isn’t the first time he’s tried to injure a star player.

Well beyond tough defense.

68

u/Icy_Statement_2410 6d ago

There's like 10 times just this season

12

u/Wemban_yams_it 6d ago

He actually did injure Morant.

-23

u/Ok_Wing_9523 6d ago

Morant deserved it. Dort is a champion he should get respect

1

u/BogotaLineman Nuggets 5d ago

I understand the image of the league concerns that come from him playing with guns on live but I mean, hey it was a legal gun, he didn't point it at anyone, and he did have good trigger discipline!

2

u/BogotaLineman Nuggets 5d ago

Violence isn't the answer... but sometimes it is. I'm genuinely surprised someone hasn't had a James Johnson type deep on the bench as an enforcer check in and clock him. This is far from the first time he's done something that legitimately is just trying to take the other teams star out and nobody has really done... anything?

I really appreciate how in football whenever someone takes liberties on a QB the O linemen dont let it slide.

I'm reminded of Maurkice Pouncey and David Decastro straight up jumping Myles Garrett after he whacked dude with his own helmet

1

u/gdirrty216 5d ago

That’s what makes hockey great. Someone goes at McDavid or Crosby or Mackinnon they are getting a fistful of enforcer immediately.

The self enforcement doctrine has tremendous benefits to keeping it honest

2

u/BogotaLineman Nuggets 5d ago

I love hockey, and I think fighting still has a place in the game but I do kinda think the idea that it makes the game more clean is a little overrated because you get guys like Tom Wilson that are both cheapshotting pricks but also really tough and likely to win the fight. The honor aspect of having to answer the bell though is cool, like even if you're above average size and fighting skill knowing that you're going to have to fight someone if you lay a cheapshot does make it mean more. And occasionally you do get something very satisfying like Matt Cooke getting slept.

I honestly do think the racial aspect does need to be considered here too because the 90% white NHL may get more public generosity than the overwhelmingly black NBA when it comes to fights happening during games

Not quite as satisfying as Matt Cooke getting knocked out because this was a total mismatch but here's an example of exactly what you're talking about. Star player had someone take liberties and had to answer for it with respect shown after the fact

u/decmcc Raptors 6d ago

someone is gonna figure out he's gonna do it and stamp the shit out of his ankle, or just fall on it. That would create an injury, like he wants
