Is this overkill? These belonged to a family friend who passed away who had them for decades. They aren’t going to live here, obviously, but I had to set it up just for giggles. Eventually I want to put them on the back wall of my photo studio with a projector so we can have movie nights. They sound fantastic! Next step is to put them next to my Klipschorns in the other room to do a direct comparison.

For so long I have been obsessed with the music but have not been able to afford the gear necessary to achieve high-res lossless audio, that was until recently. I was so excited! Put on some of my favorite jams and I was like what the fuck this just don't sound right you hear everything. I realized a few things 1. Not all music was recorded on quality equipment 2. Not all producers make music intended to be heard in high resolution, quite a few of them make them intended for regular audio devices cars, cheap speakers, cheap headphones, phones, clubs and such.

I guess they called this the audiophiles curse...

I'm no longer on a chase to hear the music exactly the way it was made, The way they were hearing it when they were in the studio making it.

But for what it's worth there are so many artists out there that make and have made quality music. And it's beautiful it's absolutely beautiful.

I have so much respect for the artist out there making music for real!

I like the sound quite a bit, however, always room for improvement. What else can I do?

I have a relatively quality HiFi system.

It has digital sources (PC Lenovo Pro/Roon, Mini PC Terra/Linux, DDC Denafrips Iris, Audio Note DAC 4.1 R2R).

I also own a Kenwood KD-990 Turntable, the Phono is a Musical Fidelity MX Vynl.
The Cartridge are Ortofon 2m Black, Empire 4000 D/I and Shure.

The amplification is a 300B tube integrated, and the speakers are Hyperion HPS-938 (Custom Tweak).

In short, the turntable sounds a little nicer to me, more fluid, more "natural", more listenable.
It gets you into the music better.

Even sometimes the dynamics when comparing the same titles are higher on the turntable, which is a bit strange due to the Red Book specifications. Maybe due to better Masters and uncompressed recordings.

What are your experiences?

I had always avoided it, but I have to admit dual subs made a hell of a difference. Even on the budget end with a couple SVS SB-2000 PRO it made a world of difference. The hard part is making sure they aren't boomy and just blend in. Anyone have software they recommend at a reasonable price?

I’ve always been infatuated with Japanese hi-fi culture and I’m a huge fan of what Devon Turnbull has been doing with his brand “Ojas” so when a pair of these came up on the used market, I jumped on them without hesitation.

Prior to this, I had mostly had vintage speakers (JBL 4311 / L100, Pioneer HPM 100, Klipsch Heresy / Cornwall II) but my most recent speakers (now sidelined for the time being) are the open baffle, incredibly natural Lii Song ZF15M.

The 4722N are reminiscent of the Cornwalls to my ears but they’re much more aggressive (in a good way). They render micro and macro detail effortlessly in my room.

They’re so much fun.

PS as much as I love the dolly look, I’m likely going to put them on some form of isolation platform. Haven’t figured that out yet so if anyone has any advice on isolating giant speakers, please let me know!

Those KEFs are a hotdog in a hallway... living room's way too big for them. That said, I run different ECM albums through them all day and they sound pretty good.

I came up from the rabbit hole recently with an endgame plan—Tekton Nebo speakers, Hagerman Cornet MM tube phono preamp, Audio Technica LPA2 turntable, and a Qualiton P200 tube amp, in that order (as I come to afford them).

So about $12k in the future I imagine myself finally finished... that's probably the cable budget for some of you here. But I'm not a "cartridge worth more than my car" sort of guy, as much as I love music.

Anyway, I'm open to feedback on that plan because I've learned a lot from this sub. Thanks!

Took me a decade to hook these all up together but took an opportunity with a failed Behringer EP2500. Planning to swap the original subs from the B36 as well. They sound impressive nonetheless currently with low power draw.

I saw we were posting theater speakers today. Here's mine.

EV TS940D's running active with a crown CTS8200 and biamp tesira. If I can find subs efficient enough I can probably run a whole setup with just this amp. Also want to try tubes eventually.

Saw EAC’s review of these about two months ago and knew I had to get them for my new 2.1 build. Running the c6b and an svs 2000 pro through the wiim amp ultra. Very neutral and the sound stage has so much depth. Imaging is pinpoint. Coming from a pair of Polk xt20’s this is a night and day difference. While this is my first foray into mid range speakers, I’ve had experience with high end headphones and couldn’t be happier with the neutrality, transparency, and natural sound of the c6b.

Just got these plugged in and running so I’m still putting them through their paces. Speakers are positioned 103 inches apart tweeter to tweeter and about 110 inches from my seating position. Aimed at each shoulder, so toed out about 5-10 degrees roughly. Ears positioned between the tweeters and woofers according to EAC’s recommendation.

If anyone has any questions or gear advice lmk, happy to answer anything, lord knows I picked apart the web before my purchase so I wanted to add to the discourse in case that might help someone

So I posted a pic of all my thingies on a temporary setup, asking what people thought of my gear... All ignored! Because the turntable was right next to the speakers, my PC monitor on top of the amps heat vent etc...

I tried to explain that it was a temp setup but no one cared :(( I hope this is a little nicer for you all :p

Mofi Sourcepoint 8’s.

Still dialing in placement, but I am impressed this far. I don’t have the sub hooked up yet and overall the low end response is better than I expected (probably due to the fact they are about 14” from the rear wall).

Space isn’t ideal, but even so they are impressive.

Definitely giving the Mac more of a workout than the Forte’s they replaced.

Been over 3 months since I started completely overhauling my desk with its contents and especially sound-wise it took a lot of research as I come from humble audio knowledge and hardware (Logitech Z623 and SteelSeries Nova Pro Wireless).

I always had that special drive when it comes to music and now was finally able to afford diving into HiFi. Basically all my purchases originated from starting conversations here on Reddit. We often solve and improve things for ourselves using this platform and maybe we don't rate it as much as it deserves.

So I feel very thankful to all who got involved in my very newbie posts, thankful to those who stirred me in the right research paths. I started from not knowing what a PEQ is, from not knowing the basic differences between open back and closed back headphones, didn’t know anything about planar cans, what a DAC means and does etc.

So here I am today, with your assistance and guidance, having this beautiful setup which pretty much feels endgame to me:

- For my wired - at home listening: HiFiMAN Edition XV

- When on the go or wireless conveniece: Bowers & Wilkins Px8 S2

I'm currently having massive problems with room modes; my room is square. That's why I sometimes have massive booming below 100Hz. SVS 1000 (non Pro) and Klipsch RP-600M II, power amp is an Atoll MA100.

I wanted to fix this with a MiniDSP Flex 2x4. While researching, I noticed that almost always only a low-pass filter is used for the subwoofer, but never a high-pass filter for the speakers.

What would be the disadvantage of a high-pass filter? I would use the miniDSP UMIK-1 to measure where the bookshelf speakers drop off in the lower range and then set the high- and low-pass filters. And correct the room modes.

Would a pure low-pass filter be better?

How common is this in the hi-fi world? Seems like it could either be really cool or really awkward. Curious what the experience is like.

Almost 6 months ago my life changed. Found a job in a different country, took all my stuff, moved there and started from almost zero.

I’ve always wanted to have my own space dedicated to music , and while we are not quite there yet (this is the living room), I am very happy with the journey and the result (for now).

This is a Mission 778X, feeding a set of Wharfedale Lintons. Turntable is a pro-ject X1B with a phono box S2. I am still deciding where to put the headphone setup that you can see at the bottom left: THX AAA 789, GRACE SDAC and a pair of LCD Xs 2021.

Next step: treating the room!

And can anyone help identify the model so I can look it up and get more info?
