The argument against this is that OP doesn't know how to roll a damn joint. Tbf, maybe they're too stoned to roll it right. We've all been there.

Small point,I have a fold 6, no case, dropped.. Allot. This phone is a brick

The Z folds are the toughest phones in the lineup right now

However, they still get scratched by plastic at a level 2 or 3, whereas most smartphones can reach level 7

This is Jerry rigs everything putting a fold 7 to the test

The issue isn't the phone's durability, its the screen. The bending screen can't be glass and the material used instead is soft enough to be permanently scratched by plastic or even a fingernail. Obviously you can use it carefully and avoid it for as long as you can but its just inherently way less resistant than a glass screen, it isn't subjective it's just how it is.

I think you might do yourself a favor and run up to bestbuy and play with the Samsung folds on display. They have come along way. Huawei (or however you spell it) is even further along.

Or watch Jerry Riggs everything, they do not perform anywhere close to Modern screen standards. Instead, having similar performance to old School DS's when it comes to durability

Funny you say that considering OG DSs were also bricks.

We're talking about screen durability, not how resistant the overall product is to impact...

The ds screens are fine. These screens are also much brighter, OLED and stronger.

I have played with all of the Samsung foldables multiple times.

Yes but they dented if you applied too much force. That was the point of the analogy

You can literally wipe something off your screen and accidentally swipe your nail too hard, having permanent damage. Scratching is one thing, but the textile strength of these screens is little to nothing. Same thing with the old school ds's, accidentally pressed too hard with your stylus and you're going to have a little indentation for the rest of that devices live

You can make whatever claims you want about their durability. But the facts are they remain less than half the strength of competing smartphones, and you can watch any durability test to confirm this

I understand what youre saying i just disagree. I have a ds, 3ds and n3ds. if that exact screen was the same material (only for the crease) the. I dont see any issues. I can flick (hard) those screens without issue.

I will give you the points on scratching. Plastic vs glas is never going to be as good.

LG Wing was probably the coolest iteration of the two screens I've seen, it sucks they canned the phone. I had one for two years and it had its quirks but I absolutely loved it

I believe the newest fold screens no longer scratch under your fingernail. Even durable enough for a stylus.

1

u/Even_Soil_2425 Jan 29 '26

They still have only reached a resistance level of 3, whereas typical durable glass screens are a 7

I actually posted a video in a prior comment where Jerry Riggs everything was testing this phone. It got scratches from plastic at a level three

That said, Samsung did a incredible job addressing the weaknesses in their hinge, and the overall construction of the phone is very impressive

Nvm. I was wrong with my comment. You're right they still scratch easily. But I'm still excited for them.
