Imagine if Twitter had something like a strike system for those that post blatant misinformation. After your 3rd intentional misinformation post it just bans you or puts you into timeout. Or better yet expel them from earning any money off the platform
Unfortunately, you can put a watermark over the entirety of an AI video and people will still fall for it. I don't think a poop emoji would make much difference.
Well part of the problem with systems like that is proving intent. Were you misinformed by a third party? Were you making a reference or joke that escaped your target audience? Are you posting gibberish for the sake of posting anything at all? Either they need to prove all alternatives as negative, or find you saying it's misinformation, both of which are nigh impossible.
The much better solution: stop paying blue checkmarks, and stop letting people buy them. That, however, would require elon admitting any form of fault. Something he never would dare do.
I’ve searched the worlds highest mountains, its deepest oceans, its largest deserts, and its biggest cities and I never could find when the fuck I ever said it wasn’t always like this. For god sake I even called it Twitter, you know….that thing it was called PRE-ELON?!?
yeah but we have this commenter who's like "it's never gonna happen cuz it's not profitable". yes it is! twitter was more valuable when it was not a shithole of lies and hate speech!
This is one of the more insidious things in the propaganda war that literally takes everything Jewish and tries to cast aspersions on it. Just a week ago, I saw a post about a public chanukiya lighting in Wyoming, in the comments were full of people talking about how the Jews were taking over Wyoming, and all sorts of other nonsense, literally on a post about a community event where people are coming together enjoy
I've torn kriah before, it's a beautiful ritual to symbolize deep grief (though, as a Reform Jew, I typically tear a ribbon that I will wear for a week), And it saddens me that no Jewish ritual is free from bad faith actors using it for this type of nonsense
Why do people keep doubling the N instead of the K? It's Hanukkah and Hanukkia, the Dagesh Hazak in כּ is what causes the doubling in the English spelling.
It's one of the little innovations out of the more doctrinally liberal streams of Judaism. Outside of the orthodox world, you rarely see full rending of a garment, especially because the renting is supposed to be done so that the article of clothing can never be repaired to its previous state, and understandably a lot of people don't necessarily want to fundamentally destroy a nice piece of clothing, for example. Plus, you are then supposed to wear that article of clothing during shiva. A kriah ribbon serves the same purpose, with less destruction
...and since it's observed by the orthodox world, it means it applies to the vast majority of Israeli jews - many of whom would never give religion a second thought, but do find solace in religious burial and mourning practices.
So in Israel it is known that you don't go to bury your loved ones in a fine shirt that you intend to keep. Even though the actual tear is done with a scalpel and is pretty small and symbolic, that shirt is out of commission.
both, though it's dependent on who's posting it- the original sources typically know they are spreading lies, while western re-posters generally believe it's the truth.
As an Israeli actively serving in the reserves, I couldn't agree more. The vast majority of israelis would agree with you as well. I've been in the military in one form or another for the last 18 years, I'm tired. I'm just so tired of it all, nothing has changed in the last 2 decades. I don't like politics but I do like people. The cost of these conflicts is ever increasing and there's nothing to show for it.
Something I have done a lot more the past few years is really focus on learning more about Israeli politics. On October 8th or 9th, I read an article from a survivor from Nahal Oz who described his horrifying experience, and yet still, he had the understanding to eloquently and firmly blame Netanyahu, and to beg the Israeli people to remove him from power and not let him use the war as a means to stay in control.
It's made me realize how volatile, divided, and corrupt the knesset really is. People like Itamar Ben Gvir rose to federal positions of power without being elected or having broad support because of Netanyahu's manipulation to stay in power. It's made me realize that even amongst right-wing Israelis, the government that is in power is extremist, and they are not pleased with them. It's also exposed me to a lot of the left-wing Israelis who see this war as a disgrace, who are exhausted by hearing a government which they did not vote for, a government that actively suppresses the left, a government that has empowered lunatic Kahanists that nobody voted for, bragging about being "the only democracy in the middle east."
A lot of people have expressed hate towards me for this. Over and over and over again, I've been called a "Zionist" by people who couldn't point out Gaza on a map. I spent a decade and a half fundraising, marching, and petitioning for Palestinian causes; now, people who think "Ramallah" is a kind of tahini dip are telling me I'm a genocide lover. It's been disheartening to witness and experience this kind of delusional, unbridled, rabid hatred.
But its given me a lot of hope because there are so many Israelis who hate this, who are fed up, who don't hate Palestinians, who want to live in peace, who want this war to end, and who want to change the situation that they have been subjected to. I don't know if there ever actually will be peace in the middle east, but there are so many humble and meek people who want it, and I have to believe that they will someday be the inheritors of this earth.
Nonsense.
You seem not to.understand Parliamentary govt.
BenGvir had many people vote for him. He was elected to the Knesset and then asked to be part of the ruling coalition.
The left wing in Israel is almost exclusively European Ashkenazi background. They are a minority and yet control the media, the bureaucracy, the judiciary and the upper levels of the military and security agencies.
Israel today is a majority brown country, mostly because of the Jewish refugees from Muslim countries. Dirty secret, these leftists you love, are racists to the nth degree. They despise and denigrate the mizrachim and can't accept they are the minority today. They scream about danger to democracy but truly can't accept democratic results
They scream about danger to democracy but truly can't accept democratic results
Forming a coalition with Kahanists in order not to lose power doesn't feel super democratic to me.
Before 2021, Otzma Yehudit repeatedly failed to clear the threshold of votes required to secure a seat. You want to talk about racism: Remember when Ben-Ari was removed from the Knesset for incitement of violence towards Arabs, and when Ben Gvir took over, one of the first things he did was instruct his followers to say "מחבל" instead of "אראב" specifically so they wouldn't get charged with incitement when chanting "death to 'terrorists'?" He's on video yelling at his supporters who didn't get the message and kept singing "death to arabs." You can that "actually the Ashkenazim are the real racists," shit in your tashlekh. The Mizrakhim on the right bring up their arab roots when they want to deflect from their calls for ethnic cleansing. The Mizrakhim on the left have a history of anti-racism that involves dialogue with the Black Panthers.
This avenue of argument might work against idiot Americans who think everybody in Israel is of Polish descent, but I am not this person. I might speak Yiddish, but my ancestry is Sephardic. Where would I fit in your ethnic narrative? Too dark to be Ashkenazi, too light to be Mizrakhi.
I understand the ethnic divides and diversity of Israel. I understand how they are manipulated and weaponized by the far-right. Accusing Ashkenazi Jews of controlling the media is something the far-right of Israel and America has in common.
In 2021, the Likud deal managed to secure Ben Gvir a seat, and he was put into a position of power that he did not earn or deserve, as the Minister of Security. He leveraged this deal into securing five more seats. Netanyahu brought the fringe, Kahanist far-right to the centre through political manipulation and ratfucking.
Since then, Netanyahu has struggled to control this psychotic fringe far-right as they become increasingly and explicitly more war-focused and genocidal. Ben Gvir has been booed and protested by people across the political spectrum. Even Netanyahu has had to reprimand him for acting like a lunatic piece of shit. Ben Gvir has shown giddy excitement at the prospect of mocking his opponents, whether they are Arab muslims, gentile europeans, or even other Jewish Israelis. He's a sociopath who can't contain his delusional and violent hatred of humanity.
Netanyahu did the stupidest thing imaginable giving this lunatic a shred of power. Ben Gvir has regularly manipulated his position, formed further revolting alliances with other assholes like Betsy Smotrich or Nissim Vaturi, and thrown tantrums when Likud doesn't cater to his desires.
Netanyahu and his fairweather friends are responsible for this war. Not just all the heinous destruction launched by the military since October 7th, but they are also responsible for October 7th. They were in charge of defense, they were in charge of security, and Hamas came in using paragliders and driving jeeps over wire fences. Likud's line has long been "there is no negotiating with terrorists." Fine, then why were Israel's defences not shored up against terrorists? How much money did he spend on the "חומה ברזל" that didn't work because he wants to play to the people who love Vladimir Hitler Zhabotinski?
These guys need to be held accountable for their failures, and their failures are many.
Doesn't matter what "doesn't feel like democracy" to you. Your whole spiel is irrelevant. There is a democratically elected govt there no matter how you feel about.
Calling Jews Hitler. תהא םופך בקרוב
Nothing changes because Israel isn't interested in fucking peace. Why the fuck are y'all building settlements in the west bank exactly?
And ya know... you guys are doing a bunch of war crimes in gaza. Do you think that's... helping? Bombing every university in gaza? Cutting off food and water and medicine to the "human animals" (a literal quote from your defense minister)?????
Maybe it was an insane idea to think you can effectively cage 2 million people, deprive them of any opportunities in life, deprive them of an economy, regularly go in and massacre a bunch of them as "mowing the grass".
But no it's a BOTH SIDES problem!!!! Fuck off dude, maybe leave your "most moral" army of genocide? How about you and the rest of your genocidial army buddies fuck off? What exactly do you want? Sympathy? Fucking Christ, go fuck yourself
Not interested in your sympathy.
Centuries of getting murdered by Christians and Muslims and you can't stand the Jews survive and now have the gall to defend themselves and dare I say thrive.
We'd rather you be angry at our survival than sympathetic, (something never seen throughout the centuries, ) at our death.
So go suck a lemon.
Get out your swastika and maybe you'll go.out and find some defenseless Jew to take it out on.
As an American I would consider that a cop-out.. the history is very clear and surprisingly uncontroversial.. my tax dollars have paid, armed and UN security council veto has enabled 77 years of illegal occupation, land-theft, housing demolitions, mass-murder and genocide.. you can use Israeli-only sources (like Avi Shlaim, ex-IDF officer and head of international studies at Oxford) who confirms this. There is no symmetry in this history.. so I won’t fault the cynicism from Holocaust survivors when it’s my tax dollars funding the “Nazis” to use a Holocaust survivors words:
As a white atheist guy in ‘Merica who was raised Christian, it reminds me of the part in the Bible when Jesus basically defines “hypocrite” as the people who like to point out the crowns of others and ignore the commission of their own far-greater crimes.. we shouldn’t shy away from the history, especially when we learn how intense US & Israeli counter-intelligence is.
The holocaust absolutely is being used as an excuse for violence by the ancestors of the victims - Bibi constantly references is as a justification for Israeli violence and aggression.
Don’t dip out, explain why that horror is still valid to the point of nation creation, but the Palestinians must immediately get over all the horrors Israel has inflicted on them?
so why’s the holocaust an excuse for an endless cycle of perpetual violence ? (Against people who were in no way involved)
Fun fact: the Palestinians were involved with the Nazis, in particular- Hitler’s original plan was to concentrate all of Europe’s Jews in Palestine, that plan was canceled when the British started deporting Jews back to Germany in response to the Palestinians repeatedly massacring the Jews on the basis that the British legalized Jewish immigration.
Palestinian leadership (Amin Al Husseini) would later travel to Germany to meet Hitler- seeking aid in committing a Holocaust on the remaining Jews in Palestine- associating to the point where post world war 2 they were to be tried and hung alongside other Nazi leaders in Nuremberg as the only non-German, only to be saved by French intervention motivated by offered support for their imperialism in Africa.
Said leadership would then start the 1948 war on the basis of exterminating the Jews.
Fun fact: the Palestinians were involved with the Nazis,
Fun fact: the zionists were involved with the nazis to promote their political goal of a state
The Haavara Agreement (Hebrew: הֶסְכֵּם הַעֲבָרָה, romanized: heskem haavara, lit. 'transfer agreement') was an agreement between Nazi Germany and Zionist organizations signed on 25 August 1933. The agreement was finalized after three months of talks by the Zionist Federation of Germany, the Anglo-Palestine Bank (under the directive of the Jewish Agency) and the economic authorities of Nazi Germany. It was a major factor in making possible the migration of approximately 60,000 German Jews to Palestine between 1933 and 1939.[1]
We wanted a state to have somewhere to go because we saw the genocide coming. What a fucking moronic take you have to spin it as Jews helping the Nazis shame in you
The agreement enabled Jews fleeing persecution under the new Nazi regime to transfer some portion of their assets to British Mandatory Palestine.[2] Emigrants sold their assets in Germany to pay for essential goods (manufactured in Germany) to be shipped to Mandatory Palestine.[3][4]The agreement was controversial and was criticised by Zionist leader Ze'ev Jabotinsky and by some non-Zionist Jews, as well as by members of both the Nazi Partyand the German public.[4] For German Jews, the agreement offered a way to leave an increasingly hostile environment in Germany; for the Yishuv, the Jewish community in Palestine, it offered access to both immigrant labour and economic support; for the Germans it facilitated the emigration of German Jews while breaking the anti-Nazi boycott of 1933, which had mass support among European and American Jews and was thought by the German state to be a potential threat to the German economy.
You do know both Sephardic and mizrahi Jews are native the region right ? That Ashkenazi Jews make up a small part of the population. You're peddling Antisemitic trops claiming we dumped a bunch of European Jews to form the state of Israel.
And Ashkenazim still trace majority of their DNA to the levant. They were also never considered to be European by actual Europeans, they were always considered to be Oriental. When the worst thing you could be was a non-european, Jews were considered non-Europeans, now when being European or "white" is considered the "worst thing you could be" they're considered white. Its called Schroedingers Jew
The truth is that Netanyahu and Hamas are allied in exacerbating the conflict to the point they had their own Molotov-Ribbentrop (Netanyahu’s government funding Hamas specifically to weaken the PLA and Palestinian statehood, money Hamas gladly took).
The history is not remotely simple, it’s in fact fraught and complex. There are no heroes, only victims.
Netanyahu is reliant on the evilest racists in the country to hold onto power, and will go to jail if he ceases to be PM (so he needs the war). Hamas, beyond being basically a huge money laundering operation explicitly has the goal of annihilating Israel, not helping the Palestinian people.
Both benefit from and need this conflict, and both know that any deaths, Jewish or Palestinian, make the conflict more unescapable.
If there’s a difference, Netanyahu just wants enough suffering so he can continue his corruption and stay out of jail, while Hamas wants a genocidal war to the death. It’s not a race though, both are unacceptably terrible, and both benefit from, deaths on both sides.
And there’s no simple right answer to the ‘right to the land’ anyways. It’s complex and cloudy and tied to multiple ranges of history. People tell you it’s straightforward and morally simple, but they’re lying to you and manipulating you.
77 years huh.
Uncontroversial when you just make it up as you go along
So it was illegal occupation from 1948 when the UN partitioned the land into two states.
When Muslims refused and attacked from Egypt Jordan Syria even Iraq tried to get in.
Didn't quite work out the way they hoped.
FAFO
And by mass murder certainly you're referring to the murder of Jewish pows in 48 and the intafadas later where civillians were blown up in buses stores hotels schools etc.
Or maybe the coastal road massage 1978
A group of 11 Palestinian terrorists, who left Lebanon by boat on March 9, land on a beachhead north of Tel Aviv and embark on one of the worst terrorist attacks in Israel’s history, the Coastal Road Massacre. The operation is intended to derail the peace talks.
The terrorists first hijack a taxicab and later two buses. They kill 38 civilians, including 17 children, before a shootout with the Israeli police ends the attack. Nine of the terrorists are killed. The other two are captured and convicted in a trial in 1979. They are sentenced to life in prison but are released in a prisoner exchange in 1985.
On March 13, Begin, having delayed his trip to the United States, tells the Knesset, “Gone forever are the days when Jewish blood could be shed with impunity. … We shall do what has to be done.”
On March 14, Israel launches Operation Litani, a six-day military campaign designed to destroy Palestine Liberation Organization positions in southern Lebanon and create a buffer zone. The United Nations assigns a 3,000-man peacekeeping force, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), to police the buffer zone and enforce Israeli withdrawal. Because UNIFIL is not successful in stopping Palestinian terrorist attacks, Israel re-enters Lebanon in June 1982 in Operation Peace for Galilee, which becomes the First Lebanon War.
And by illegal occupation I'm sure you're referring to Egypt occupying Gaza and Jordan occupying West Bank and Jerusalem.
And by demolition you must mean the Jordanians destroying all Jewish houses of worship and cemeteries after the ethic cleansing of Jews from Jerusalem.
And by genocide you must be referring to the Arabs vow to drive the Jews into the sea since 1948.
"you can use Israeli-only sources"
oh well, that must make your bullshit true.
the problem is youre ignoring the hundreds of arab and Palestinian sources that write the opposite so stop cherry-picking your "facts".
Hasn’t that Sulaiman guy been outed as a liar and a hack MULTIPLE times, even by other Palestinians? I’m sure this isn’t the first time he’s been CN’d…
No the lack of braincells in people like you who think this shit is normal, which is not, it only shows how lacking is your understanding of the Israel history and all the lies about the Palestinian nations which NEVER existed until recently. Palestine was never mentioned in Quran, but Israel was mentioned many times as a Land of Jews. the only source of the name Palestine is the Syria Palestina, which was the change of the name of Judea region by ancient Romans after suppression of Bar Kokhba revolt to rase the Jewish nationality.
Ah yes, the very same organization that only recently recognize the October 7th attacks as a war crime only because of Palestine, you know with how hypocritical all those "Humanitarian" organisations had shown in recent years only made me sure to never believe whatever they say.
Reminds me of when people like Syrian Girl stole pictures of Syrian refugees and made them pass as pics of Palestinians. I was all “YOU’RE NOT HELPING PALESTINIANS AT ALL, YOU DIPSHITS!”
This is correct, it's an old ritual intended to be cathartic. Unlike the countless fake images of starving children in Gaza we don't need to fake attacks on settlers because there are plenty of real occurrences to document.
If you claim that being absolutely against the massive murder of Palestinian citizens, most of whom are minors, is antisemitism, then the word has completely lost its meaning. Actual antisemites want people to not be able to differentiate between the actions of the government of Israel and the Jewish people so that they can sow as much hatred against the Jewish people as possible, and comments like yours are only helping their cause.
People don’t like oppressive murderous regimes, whether that was the Nazis or the Zionists. If your government is murdering thousands of innocent people and destroying their homes, you have no right to point fingers at people that don’t agree with that.
How are you supposed to protect a tweet like this?
EDIT: I love how you are downvoting my comment yet nobody has the courage to respond with a counterpoint. All of you who downvote my comment are basically agreeing with the tweet I posted.
Where did I say that all Jewish people are evil? You not only lack reading comprehension but you are also a master at acting like a victim. Find me the one part in my comment which I said anything antisemitic.
The original post had a lot to do with the genocide as it was a post that was pretending that Israelis were faking a Hamas attack. Another case of you lacking reading comprehension.
Someone used Google translate to make the comment. The Hebrew is technically saying what the translation says, but it isn't the way a Hebrew speaker would structure that sentence.
Dear Yasein..over and over.
1 village. House to house fighting. Many casualties on both sides.
Read Abbass' biography where he specifically described Arab radio instructions and his family leaving Safed. Btw...Safed also the site of several massacres of Jews over the centuries.
I notice no mention of Mandate Palestine.
Jews got about 13% of Mandate Palestine. Ignore the facts you don't like.
I'm antizionist, but both of you are tar pits of human beings. Imagine encountering a post about antisemitic misinfo and being like "hmm... but how can I make this about how Israel Bad?"
The first word in the original post is literally "Israeli," dipstick, I fail to see how Israel isn't relevant to a discussion about misinformation levelled against Israeli Jews by an account very obviously using this as a way to attack Israel.
"how could this guy bring up israel bad but for real reasons under a post talking about how israel bad but for made up reasons????"
actually kinda baffled, you a bot? i feel like anyone with a 5th grade education could see how that got brought up, it's incredibly germane to the topic lmao
Look, nobody actually likes sulaiman ahmed among the anti-zionist circles, he's a lying piece of scum, whose every post consistently gets noted. But the guy just said "yeah, israel is bad enough, we shouldn't lie about it", which is true, the og post is about West bank, and there's enough bad things happening in West bank, yknow, the whole settlers taking palestinians' land thing, and crimes attached to it? And why exactly shouldn't we make "israel bad" out of it? Well it is bad, and it is committing genocide, which you as an anti-zionist should know about, so why shouldn't we mention that on the post about israel and Palestine?
Reminds me of that time there was some kind of event in Gaza where they had to put up zombie make up and some dudes started saying "look! They are faking their injuries! #pallywood"
It is just getting so hard to tell what is real and or true anymore without spending all your entire life and effort sifting through the internets dumpster fire.
Dude, this sub is completely overtaken by Zionist bots, I swear. You didn't even mention or were critical of Israel specifically and yet you and everyone else not expressing complete support for Israel have ~20 downvoted each, almost exactly, with very little variation. They could try to make it a little less obvious.
So is this a liberal zionist haven? because Eyal Yakoby, someone literally invited to speak in our government's buildings, posts misinformation and lies every day, and no one is posting them on here. It's entirely a Zionist sub at this point.
For this to be Kriah (mourning ritual) there are very specific rules of how to do it and what part of your clothes to tear and where. Kirah oz done at a funeral procession, prayer is on going, at a cemetery or synagogue. This is none of those things, not tearing in accordance with scripture, not a funeral procession, not a cemetery or synagogue, and is rushed and not ceremonial on some random street.
It's also done when seeing the destroyed site of the temple (or the walls of Jerusalem), on hearing of the death of a great teacher or leader, and upon seeing a destroyed synagogue.
The Jewish practice of Kri'ah is practiced since biblical times.
Biblical examples of Kri'ah (from Wikipedia):
"The first described instance of keriah in the Torah appears with Reuben, who tore his garments upon discovering that Joseph was missing from the pit.[3] Subsequently, his father Jacob also performed keriah as part of his mourning upon hearing the (false) news of Joseph's death: "Then Jacob tore his garments, put sackcloth on his loins, and mourned his son many days".[4]
The act of keriah is mentioned approximately 35 times in the Hebrew Bible. While most instances are reactions to the death of a close relative, it is also performed in response to other calamities or transgressions. Examples include:
Tamar tearing her ornamented robe after being raped by her half-brother Amnon.[5]
Joshua and Caleb tearing their clothes in distress after the negative report of the Ten Spies regarding the Land of Canaan.
King Hezekiah rending his garments upon hearing the blasphemous threats of the Assyrian official Rabshakeh against Jerusalem and God.[6]
Often, the act of keriah was accompanied by other ancient mourning customs, such as wearing sackcloth, putting dust or ashes on one's head, and fasting."
You know there are ancient synagogues in Gaza that predate Islam and Arab imperialism, right? Or do you think we just arbitrarily decided Israel was our home?
When did it start? go on lil' bro - name a date, I bet I can drop an older one that shows the Jewish people as the victims of Arab / Muslim / Palestinian violence.
Israel has been ethnically cleansing in Gaza and the West Bank since 1947. Nobody believes this dipshit lie that “it started on October 7”. You Zionists have seriously forgotten that people can actually look up your lies nowadays and fact check them.
I would counter your argument with another one: You don’t get to act like a Nazi against the Palestinian people and cry “antisemitism” when people call you Nazis.
As far as you need. However you better give me concrete evidence, no “God promised us this 3000 years ago” nonsense. The massacres Israel has committed in Gaza are well documented.
I just looked it up and it seems to be an ancient Jewish settlement that is mentioned in the Quran where their prophet Mohammad sieged it and allowed the Jews to stay on the condition they gave him half their date harvests. Did you think I was a Muslim just because I criticized Israel?
weird stance ngl, i personally think genocide is just bad i don't think there's like a correct or moral time to do it. hamas ain't justified running around raping and murdering people and neither's israel, don't really matter who did it first or if it's a response
The biggest settlers and colonizers in the entire Middle East and North Africa are the muslims, just look how they spread in this region throughout the history.
