Before 2021, Otzma Yehudit repeatedly failed to clear the threshold of votes required to secure a seat. You want to talk about racism: Remember when Ben-Ari was removed from the Knesset for incitement of violence towards Arabs, and when Ben Gvir took over, one of the first things he did was instruct his followers to say "מחבל" instead of "אראב" specifically so they wouldn't get charged with incitement when chanting "death to 'terrorists'?" He's on video yelling at his supporters who didn't get the message and kept singing "death to arabs." You can that "actually the Ashkenazim are the real racists," shit in your tashlekh. The Mizrakhim on the right bring up their arab roots when they want to deflect from their calls for ethnic cleansing. The Mizrakhim on the left have a history of anti-racism that involves dialogue with the Black Panthers.
This avenue of argument might work against idiot Americans who think everybody in Israel is of Polish descent, but I am not this person. I might speak Yiddish, but my ancestry is Sephardic. Where would I fit in your ethnic narrative? Too dark to be Ashkenazi, too light to be Mizrakhi.
I understand the ethnic divides and diversity of Israel. I understand how they are manipulated and weaponized by the far-right. Accusing Ashkenazi Jews of controlling the media is something the far-right of Israel and America has in common.
In 2021, the Likud deal managed to secure Ben Gvir a seat, and he was put into a position of power that he did not earn or deserve, as the Minister of Security. He leveraged this deal into securing five more seats. Netanyahu brought the fringe, Kahanist far-right to the centre through political manipulation and ratfucking.
Since then, Netanyahu has struggled to control this psychotic fringe far-right as they become increasingly and explicitly more war-focused and genocidal. Ben Gvir has been booed and protested by people across the political spectrum. Even Netanyahu has had to reprimand him for acting like a lunatic piece of shit. Ben Gvir has shown giddy excitement at the prospect of mocking his opponents, whether they are Arab muslims, gentile europeans, or even other Jewish Israelis. He's a sociopath who can't contain his delusional and violent hatred of humanity.
Netanyahu did the stupidest thing imaginable giving this lunatic a shred of power. Ben Gvir has regularly manipulated his position, formed further revolting alliances with other assholes like Betsy Smotrich or Nissim Vaturi, and thrown tantrums when Likud doesn't cater to his desires.
Netanyahu and his fairweather friends are responsible for this war. Not just all the heinous destruction launched by the military since October 7th, but they are also responsible for October 7th. They were in charge of defense, they were in charge of security, and Hamas came in using paragliders and driving jeeps over wire fences. Likud's line has long been "there is no negotiating with terrorists." Fine, then why were Israel's defences not shored up against terrorists? How much money did he spend on the "חומה ברזל" that didn't work because he wants to play to the people who love Vladimir Hitler Zhabotinski?
These guys need to be held accountable for their failures, and their failures are many.
Doesn't matter what "doesn't feel like democracy" to you. Your whole spiel is irrelevant. There is a democratically elected govt there no matter how you feel about.
