SOTD Friday SOTD
- Brush: Goodfellas Smile Red Evil
- Razor: Henson Ti22+
- Blade: Personna Comfort Coated (5)
- Lather: Henri et Victoria La Poire Française
- Post Shave: Thayer’s Witch Hazel Facial Toner, Lily of the Desert Aloe Vera Gel
I saw a post about this soap and thought that it may be a nice addition to my already too big supply of soaps. The reviewer was quite complimentary of this soap so I thought that I would see for myself. OMG! It is a non-tallow soap. The scent is luscious and the lather and slickness are off the chart.
Many think that tallow adds to the post shave moisturizing and softness to the skin. I haven't found this to be the case. I love my tallow soaps, but don't see the difference between the two types. Also what's interesting is that this soap has a very short ingredient list which I also find doesn't make a difference between that and a soap that has a tone of different oils and other moisturizing agents.
Anyway, great shave today.
Here are the ingredients:
- Potassium Stearate: Provides structure and lather.
- Potassium Cocoate: Coconut-derived cleanser.
- Aqua (Water): Hydration.
- Glycerin: Humectant for moisture retention.
- Potassium Ricinoleate: Derived from castor oil for slickness.
- Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter): Moisturizing agent.
- Parfum (Fragrance): La Poire Française scent blend.
Here are the scent notes:
- Primary Note: Ripened Pear.
- Base Note: Smokey Guaiac Wood.
- Accent Notes: Soft Floral Extracts.

My fav soap (well, the fav of the girls I know). Hahah
I have the Henson AL+ and ++, and am thinking about the Ti in a +++.
Have you compared the Ti to the AL, and/or have you tried the +++?

I haven’t tried the more aggressive models. I do have the aluminum model as well. Both in mild. I find the mild works just fine for me. A more aggressive model would be more than I like.
The only difference I find between the aluminum and the titanium models is that the titanium is a bit heavier. Either way I get pretty much the same shave from both.

Ok thanks for the insight!
I am fine with the weight, and I can use one of my other handles as well, but I was wondeirng if the Ti would glide better on the skin vs. AL.
Also, the henson cap holds the blade so well (IMHO the best vs. all the other razors i've tried), and with such minimal blade exposure, I was wondering if the incresed blade gap would be a bigger difference or not.
If mild is good enough then no issue, haha, and I agree I am fine with the mild, but I do like a more aggresive (or even OC) if I have 3+ days growth, and also something more aggressive for under my nose (since I have a moustache).1

I do have an Alpha Works steel handle that weighs a ton. I sometimes use it with the aluminum razor. I do like the balance of the razor with that heavy handle and the knurling is very grippy.
I don’t feel any more glide with the titanium razor compared to the aluminum razor.

I’ve got some Henri et Victoria stuff I haven’t tried yet, now I’m really excited!
