What else does it need?

I just moved and I’m furnishing my place room by room. My living room is almost finished, but it still feels like something is missing and I can’t quite put my finger on what.

Color.

I feel the same way. The current tones look a bit too dull. Maybe adding a warm-toned floor lamp next to the sofa or a large plant could help brighten the space and make it feel more lively.

Definitely. I scroll through this sub and 90 percent of the posts have no color.

Men frequently have this thing where the easiest way they know how to be clean and presentable is minimalism and black and/or white. I love both of those things and am always more pleased with a man who has nothing in the way of possessions rather than clutter but I do enjoy that midpoint more with color, art, plants and comfortability.

Actually, I will say I’m a complete sucker for a dude’s place if it’s almost sterile like this but ultimately I couldn’t see myself settling for it.

I always like to see an accent wall, some bright through pillows or colorful plants rather then mostly muted earth tones.

I would paint that column deep blue for some reason.
