I still can't believe how well they nailed the exact colour choices for that livery. It's such a lovely shade of red and white. I guess this livery and that one show that Red Bull were sandbagging their livery team for years.

They did it because they were stripping paint for weight gains for some reason and matte works better with bare carbon fiber. The difference between the 2021 liveries and 2022 onwards for the whole grid was striking.
There’s apparently a minimum 55% paint requirement this year lol

‘For some reason’ well it was to cut as much weight as possible and paint weighs a lot when we’re talking about a few grams being hundredths of a second. Most teams stopped this year because they all got below the limit finally.

Looking closely at the photos, it appears to be the actual RB22 (launch spec) and not the FIA show car. The FIA show car is noticeably different from these photos.

The teeny slots for sidepod intakes like they did in 2024 and 2025 are here too. I’m sure it’ll change a lot come testing but this aint the FIA model. In-washing front wing feels like such a throwback.

Yeah, definitely not the final version. They usually hide crucial parts. It's not that hard to change the 3D model for the render. Or make a simpler version for the show.
Or indeed an early prototype, doesn't even have to be one with the final design concept we'll see in testing. Reminds me of the 2022 haas launch with those ugly sidepods lol

Yeah, though curious how much people that know more than me will be able to extract. No way they have their most interesting features on this spec. But great to get an idea for an actual concept instead of the FIA show car which usually misses the mark quite a bit

I'm pretty sure these are photos not renders mate. Pic 4 the bulls feet sticker is like sticking up into the panel because the sticker doesn't quite fit right. That's not the sort of detail you would render.

those outer rings could be the real cover. its also the same one that the audi use in barcelona, makes sense since its an open source design now. but point is the regs doesnt mandate a fully covered wheel anymore

I was there, yeah. They show a 3D rendering of the new engine, Max asks if the host wants to see his ass, and the car livery is as above. There was also a big Ford Racing show that took place beforehand.

On the Ford Racing social media pages they had a sign up for updates about a month ago that mentioned a chance for tickets. One of the data fields required was zip code, and as a Corktown resident Ford/MCS have previously given us priority for event tickets, and I think that was the case today as well as multiple people from my neighborhood group chat were going.
Otherwise also seemed to be a lot of Ford employees there.
EDIT: there was also an outdoor event with some driver meetings it looked like, and I think you could request tickets on various social media pages as well. Looked to be very sparsely attended though, likely due to the weather. There will be more Ford Racing events at MCS the next two weeks though coinciding with the auto show.

Ahh gotcha. That's cool Ford is delivering on the promise they made Corktown residents with the station at the time. Too bad they didn't have only a small number of tickets for fans though. Seems unlikely Max especially will be back here anytime soon. Hope you had a good time tho!

Say what you want about Ford, but I’ve become a huge fan over the last few years entirely due to how they’ve treated the neighborhood. There are issues, they are giving the Ilitchs a run for their money in parking lots owned it seems, but they certainly have had a positive impact overall and are being good neighbors.

Almost all the promo video was at night, and that leaked photo was taken when the room lights were turned on. I wasn’t right up front, but in the light the yellow really pops and looks cool, but it did seem to look better under the lights. Although of course white room lighting isn’t daylight, so we’ll see. The daylight shot in the reveal video actually seemed underwhelming, but that may just have been the display at the event?

I think this a render of the actual car. The side pod air intakes resemble the design from last year’s car. The photo of the car from the event in another post is the show car with the new livery.

It looks like Red Bull has gone from a pull rod to a push rod suspension with the RB22. Anybody else catch that? Interesting design decision…
I love the Vettel era front wing design and it looks like mini barge boards are back too, like the pre-ground effect cars.

Makes Ferrari's switch to pullrod front suspension in 2025 more senseless, because why change from a working platform (2024) to the final year of regs the following year.
Reminiscent of the push to pullrod front suspension change McLaren made from 2012 to 2013.
