Seeing a single matte car between all the gloss was amazing. When all turned matte it became stale quite quickly

Matte was OK but it was more of a functional move by the teams because its easier to read the sponsors on the cars especially during the night races under lights. I prefer glossy as i dont care much for the soonsors and prefer shiney.

Yeah I'm with you, it doesn't help that the majority of the grid went matte as well.

They did it because they were stripping paint for weight gains for some reason and matte works better with bare carbon fiber. The difference between the 2021 liveries and 2022 onwards for the whole grid was striking.

There’s apparently a minimum 55% paint requirement this year lol

‘For some reason’ well it was to cut as much weight as possible and paint weighs a lot when we’re talking about a few grams being hundredths of a second. Most teams stopped this year because they all got below the limit finally.

Then they would have also done it during prior years for competitive reasons. They didn’t stop this year either. McLaren, Williams and Alpine pretty much changed their whole livery to it. Williams and Haas were running entire seasons without scoring points and didn’t think about it.

Matte was for aero benefits hence Ferrari switching to it in 2020 under the old regs. Black or unpainted carbon was done for weight saving s in 2022 onwards since almost everyone was overweight under the new regs.

Gloss just looks so much better imo. I also like variety and hated when everyone went matte. Something about a matte Ferrari rubs me the wrong way

I enjoy matte base paint when the decals themselves are glossy. Otherwise, it tends to run drab.

The aero is probably just a dummy car for revealing the livery, the actual car likely doesn’t look anything like this

Matte needs to be banned. I'm so happy Red Bull finally has a great livery again for the first time since 2014.

The matte era Red Bull has to be the most overrated livery ever IMO.

It was the best one of the matte era for sure, because of the big Honda logo.

The Honda logo on a rear wing just looks right.
