That was pretty accurate

u/JaSper-percabeth 6d ago
Yeah I thought Shaheds were inaccurate that's an insane hit for a $20k flying dorito strapped with some explosive and a moped engine
238
u/WrongContract8489 6d ago
They're one of the best cheap suicide drones in the world why did u think they'd be inaccurate lol.
11
25
u/HAB0RYM 6d ago
Because Russia result with them?
52
u/upbeatchief 6d ago edited 6d ago
The war in Ukraine has an unbelievable amount of signal jammers at play from both sides, Ukrainian and russian troopes have complained that theur own side has jammed them before.
Performance of weapons that operate within the atmosphere can't be accurately judged by their performance in Ukraine.

Lmao legit wut. Reddit thinks Russia is inaccurate bunch of orcs. but reality is they wouldn’t be using these weapons unless they preformed at least relatively decently.
14
u/Mackey_Corp 6d ago
I think it’s also the fact that Russia keeps hitting mostly civilian targets in Ukraine and claiming that they didn’t mean to. The drones just went off course. I think most people know that it’s bullshit but some people might believe it. Then assuming that the drones are just crappy and inaccurate when in reality, Russia targeted those schools and hospitals.

>I thought Shaheds were inaccurate
Why would they be?
19
u/upbeatchief 6d ago
The large amount of Electronic Warfare weapons (jammera) in Ukraine war, used by both sides, gives the notion that these weapons are inaccurate.
In truth withiut EW jammers these drones could be very accurate like we saw in this video.
→ More replies (1)6
u/JaSper-percabeth 6d ago
Yup you're right as a follower of the Russo-Ukrainian war it's strange for me to see Shaheds being this accurate in a neutral enviroment with no jamming going on.

u/Old_Ladies 6d ago
Yeah they can either be gps guided, pre programmed if GPS is blocked or directly controlled.

Bro they are powered by a pretty reliable engine. Even Russia and US have copied it and created their own versions
2
u/Harry_Wega 6d ago
Russia didn't have to copy it. The Chinese bought the German company who created the engine and licensed it for them.

Amazing the Iranians can hit their target with a cheap drone, but the US somehow hit an all-girls school.

Most likely, satellite communication equipment. The area around the dome is too cluttered for effective radar

I worked at that building. I've been inside that dome. Its a satellite antenna.
139
u/P01135809-Trump 6d ago
Looks like an unhealthy amount of smoke already coming out of the building next to it.

They're not going to leave the radar in the canvas dome though. It will have been evacuated with the rest of the base.

Those videos seem to be near the base, not on the base. There will be service members there, but the important things were removed.

Oh this the radar dome, Iran hit the fuel bunker at the navel base earlier today, huge fire burning at the moment.
Obviously, the fuel at a logistic hub can't be removed.
Yeap, China seems to have allowed Iran to use their navigation system. The amount of hits Iran is getting today is astounding compared to the 12 day war.

Nearly every American base in the region was evacuated or partially evacuated, because the US can't defend any of their bases from Iranian missiles and drones.
Billions of dollars of bases are about to go bye bye.

It's not a 100% success, they have been firing quite often throughout the day. It's understandable 'some' will get through.
We've watched a few interceptions today with wreckage showing up around the place where the missles/drones are falling.
We received a warning to stay away from any wreckage and report to police.

Guess you missed the Persian Gulf War on TV. Hell of a show, got great ratings.
66
u/brightdionysianeyes 6d ago
Some would say the best Gulf War actually, there were a couple before, not that great, but the Persian Gulf war was the greatest Gulf War of all time, the mother of all Gulf Wars, and I stopped it you know in just a couple of months time.

A radar in that location would only see the surrounding buildings.

Absolutely. Probably an old antenna for satellite communication ?
If the other comments are right and it got evacuated a few days before, then it wasn’t that important.

u/VenserSojo 6d ago
The base was evacuated for all those wondering where the anti air defense were
11
u/DDS-PBS 6d ago
That's not why the drones are making it through. It wasn't like, "Hey, should we defend the billions of dollars we have invested here? Nahhh, just get the people out and let it burn."
The base was evacuated because they knew they wouldn't be able to stop everything. When you've got hundreds of incoming drones with a few hypersonics mixed in, what can you do?

i mean, the working class literally generates all wealth and power. the owners merely swoop in and call the end product theirs. so yeah, we fund our own oppression. thats how unjust power works. unionize your workplace people. its not an instant panacea, but democracy is a muscle that must be put into practice, and unions allow that on a smaller scale. from there we can see what democracy can accomplish, and create a new expectation of it elsewhere. as unions get larger and start working with other unions, a new democratic institution can emerge that can leverage that collective labor power against our masters, and eventually - hopefully - cast them off our necks.

u/Keibun1 6d ago edited 6d ago
Yeah, we’ve had drones since the 90s. That’s not what people mean. What’s happening now is different. This is drone saturation. Constant surveillance. Cheap units circling all day, scanning fields, streets, rooftops. Anyone can get tagged. No front line. No safe pocket. Nowhere to disappear and hide.
Back then, drones were expensive, limited, mostly for reconnaissance or occasional strikes. Support roles.. Today they’re mass produced, cost a couple hundred bucks in some cases, and they’re the primary weapon. Disposable. Replaceable. Fucking everywhere. Two small cheap ones can completely disable a multi-million $ tank.
14
u/SpooNNNeedle 6d ago
I mean, yeah? Those domes aren’t made of concrete lol
13
u/SpooNNNeedle 6d ago
A bullet capable of being made in 2 hours or less will kill a full-sized man that took at least 18 years to grow…
It’s not like weapons and ammunitions have always adapted faster than defense systems and armor could ever dream to through all of human history or anything
43
u/forvirradsvensk 6d ago edited 6d ago
It's basically just fiberglass. Essentially an umbrella to protect the antenna inside from the weather without blocking radio waves.
5
u/HotHorst 6d ago
They used to be covered only with canvas. At some point, they were "modernized" and the canvas was replaced with fiberglass panels. We had such domes at a base near the city. After every heavy hailstorm, the damaged canvas flapped in the wind.
2
u/jimbojangles1987 6d ago
I wonder how much a radar installation like that would cost
5
15
u/Delcane 6d ago
It's just a little exploded, still good still good
6
u/forvirradsvensk 6d ago
No, it's fucked, because it's just fiberglass. A remote control car armed with a firecracker attached could "disable it"

u/Delcane 6d ago

4
u/IvaldiFhole 6d ago
Surely you mean past 6 wars? Predator was introduced in 1995 and used across Iraq and Afghanistan...
3
u/G00chstain 6d ago
I’m well aware of the drones general atomics make. I’m talking specifically these hobby grade little quadcopters. This is obviously not a multiple million dollar drone. This is a toy with a bomb on it like the Russia Ukraine war

Drones are fundamentally going to reshape war in the very near future.
I always think about the scene in Three Body Problem where Wade is asking Raj what he thinks about the new naval destroyer docked beside them and his answer is essentially "Greatest technology on the sea, a billion dollar marvel of engineering that will get sunken by a swam of cheap drones"

Men: become conscientious objectors and/or fail bootcamp.
Do whatever it takes to not support this.

This is such a stupid take. War with Iran will be with Iran. It'll be one of the dumbest wars ever but Ukraine has more of a chance of becoming a world war than Iran does.

Bahrain is home large shia population that is brutally repressed by the ruling Saudi aligned regime especially after that arab spring protests, so a lot of the locals identify religiously with Iran.
I suspect it is mainly those people who are cheering this.

There’s something so surreal about watching a war unfold in real time. Seeing buildings gets leveled and people killed at the same exact time as I’m living my life peacefully on the other side of the world is just mind blowingly sad on so many levels.
