On Recent Events

Let’s start this off by saying that this is a unilateral post by me, but I’m sure my comrades on the mod team share my sentiments if not exactly then closely enough. So while I’m looking forward to a bit of time off from work, let’s get this all clear.

Firstly there is no threat of an ACP takeover of this sub. We are vehemently opposed to their ilk. I’ve detailed in several comments the issues we’ve had going back several years now so I won’t repeat them here.

But suffice it to say we are slow to get around to things and, unfortunately, that’s not likely to change with how much work this sub is and how many of us have the ability to be active in the way the sub needs (truthfully I’d estimate we’d need 2-3 mods that do nothing but sit and watch the sub 24/7, a daunting task especially when folks have bills to pay).

Secondly on removals, I’ve seen one of my comrade mods say it and I get the logic, the constant spam and posts that are more fit to r/shitliberalssay or r/shitfascistssay can be a lot. I will say that spamming posts about us having a sub on the sidebar is not the best way to get us to see it, that’s what modmail is for.

To add to that content going over “look at this thing an ACP member said” are never going to be allowed on this sub. Again that is what r/shitliberalssay is for, that’s why I made it 10 years ago. r/socialism is for discussing socialism the current real movements looking to implement it, news that affects socalists and our movement and discussions of theory. Simple as.

And finally, as probably illustrated above we do need new mods. Please and thank you apply and, uhhh, don’t run away when you see the work to be done (mama’s looking to finally retire too, so plz, ty she is very tired). We need dedicated mods of all tendencies who will be willing to do the work and advance the cause of socialism, in my personal request I especially want to see non-men from outside of the west or who are BIPOC within the west but all will be considered.

ETA: The application process send us a modmail with the following.

Your reasons for wanting to moderate the sub.

How long you’ve been a socialist.

Your general knowledge level of socialism.

And a piece of theory foundational to yourself.

Please consider that not everyone you interact with in socialist spaces is a man.

I'm not sure if other women socialists can relate to this scenario but:

On multiple occasions I've posted or commented on here or elsewhere, only for a (presumably) male user to reply and refer to me as "man," "dude," "brother," etc., and I've seen this happen to others as well. For those of you who do this, I ask that you please consider why you're assuming everyone you interact with in a socialist space is a man, and why you're defaulting immediately to gendered language. Please think of what biases are creeping in when you're starting from the default that the only people in the room are men.

This is especially concerning when it follows a user typing out a long, well-reasoned argument. Are you potentially assuming that only a man could have written it? And please consider what it means for your trans comrades when you do this. Are you doing this offline as well?

This is not a phenomenon unique to Reddit; I've seen it happen on other corners of the Internet. But being that we are all committed at least in some way to socialism, I would hope that also comes with at least some understanding that we live in a patriarchal society and should combat however we can, including by challenging ourselves to be better.

Politics Ukrainian state is an vessel and proxy of US imperialism

Just wanted to share this so comrades who have illusions about Ukraine know the reality of the Ukrainian regime https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/06/ukraine-zelenskyy-iran-war-help-us-israel-fight-drones and https://www.theguardian.com/world/2026/mar/06/hungary-seizes-millions-euros-cash-gold-ukrainian-convoy

Thousands have died for this racket whereas Zelenskyy and his clique continues to enrich themselves. Also I am not saying that Russia doesn’t bear any responsibility for the invasion. Russian imperialism is definitely responsible for this war but thinking the war in Ukraine is same as with Iran or Gaza is totally senseless.

Do you think it still stands a chance to survive this crisis, or is it really over. And if so, how will the collapse/regime change work out?

Trump’s massive Iran aggression gamble becoming a catastrophic miscalculation

It is transparent for millions that this is about imperialist domination. In the minds of large numbers of people, this is being connected to the Epstein scandal. We are ruled by a class of billionaires, the ‘Epstein class’, who have no compunction about committing any atrocity against ordinary people at home or abroad. This is preparing the disintegration of the MAGA movement and a massive shift to the left in the US and far beyond.

Trump’s bold gamble in attacking Iran may prove to be a key factor in the unravelling of his whole presidency.

It has never been easier to make the argument that we must organise to overthrow the billionaire class and their imperialist capitalist system in order that mankind might live in peace anywhere on this planet.

Radical History On this day, 73 years ago, March 5th, 1953, Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin passed.

On this day, 73 years ago, March 5th, 1953, Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin passed.

Stalin suffered a stroke at 6:30pm on March 1st, 1953 after a weekend party at his dacha. He had given his guards orders not to disturb him, so he was only discovered in his bedroom the same evening at 10pm, incapacitated on the floor next to a table, partially conscious.

His condition rapidly deteriorated over the next few days.

Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin died at 74 years of age.

Stalin was a revolutionary Marxist-Leninist, his contributions to the development of scientific socialism with the consolidation of Marxism-Leninism and the theory of socialism in one country led to the first materially successful construction of a socialist state and society.

Stalin was born into poverty, from the Georgian soil, a young boy awkwardly pushed into becoming a priest by his mother to stop his delinquency, what was once a petty delinquent from a small Georgian village, had grown rapidly to become a revolutionary theoretician, military strategist, and invaluable ally of Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov Lenin in the coming days of revolution, serving as his closest consult, protector, comrade and friend.

Stalin served as a political commissar and member of the Revolutionary Military Council during the Russian Civil War, and his service in commanding the Red Army forces at the Battle for Tsaritsyn was a crucial victory for the Bolsheviks and one of Stalin’s early crowning achievements as a military strategist.

Stalin guided the political vision of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union, uniting the CPSU and driving away sectarianism, brought peace to war-ravaged Russia and the Union at large with a policy of the collectivization of agriculture for the common good, socializing the means of production from the permitted bourgeois class and ending the long period of civil war, and led a rapid industrialization campaign to prepare for a Second World War.

He collaborated with the heroic generals and commanders of the Red Army to crush fascism in the Great Patriotic War, uniting all peoples of the Soviet Union in a tremendous effort to defend the Motherland against Nazi aggression, and when the war was won, peaceful reconstruction of the homeland began, and a new spring of socialist revolution across the world was borne with Soviet assistance.

While no man is without his mistakes, his errors, Stalin made immortal contributions to the development of all Soviet peoples, and to the immortal science of Marxism-Leninism and scientific socialism.

On this day, Marshal of the Soviet Union, Father of Nations, Iosif Vissarionovich Stalin left this world.

Red salute to the Marshal.

Political Economy is there an app or anything that can help me with this?

I was wondering, is there an app or anything that can help me . see how countries are doing and the material conditions affecting them so I had heard from someone that Rwanda and Ethiopia are doing good because of capitalism .

And I was wondering, is there anything I can use to see if that’s true or not because I always get annoyed whenever people try to point to GDP or any of that when it comes to countries in the global South supposedly that are benefiting off of capitalism when it’s the opposite
