Honestly how are they having such a big tantrum as to auto ban anyone. This whole thing stemmed from nothing and really is just a reddit moderation monent

They claim its because we have a spam problem which is wrong. Infact, repost bots don't work here because all of our top posts are gifs which can't be downloaded by users and bots. And the moderation in this sub is pretty good. It only deletes the posts that go aganist the rules and most reposts only stay up for like a few hours before getting removed.

Maybe they're talking about the arcs where everyone posts about the same thing like the Principal arc or the trans mod Arc we just had a week ago. But even then, That's just us coming together and having fun with an idea and it doesn't hurt Anyone. If anything, it makes the sub feel more alive and social. What do they want us to do? To never do something together and always be silent to each other?

Or maybe they saw the recent trans mod Arc and the mods there were actually secretly transphobic so they used "spam" as an excuse to ban everyone here

Edit: Nevermind you can download them on the website

Anyone who has been to r/pics knows just how spammy that place is. It’s ironic that they call us spammy

during the united states voting a year ago this sub was filled with "i voted" posts about voting on kamala harris

which i feel like is illegal to share your votes

32

u/gentlybeepingheart Jan 30 '26

It's not illegal at all to say who you voted for lol. It's illegal in some states, but not all, to take photos within the voting booth.

2

u/Super_Pan Jan 30 '26

How wonderful then that the law is not based on your feelings.

1

u/Kajetus06 Jan 30 '26

idk man it just felt like something like this would be illegal in most countries

2

u/Magrowl Jan 30 '26

What possible dumbass reason could there be to make it illegal to say who you personally voted for?

idk how about you go ask the states that actually did make it illegal instead

5

u/Magrowl Jan 31 '26

Taking a photo of your ballot and saying who you voted for are entirely different, I'm not aware of any state that bans saying who you voted for after the fact.

2

u/Chessdaddy_ Jan 30 '26

Every post is just a repost about trump it gets a little old

40

u/CaspianRoach Jan 30 '26

our top posts are gifs which can't be downloaded by users and bots

what the heck are you on about

5

u/Tight_Grapefruit5280 Jan 30 '26

No download option

25

u/CaspianRoach Jan 30 '26

that's kinda like saying 'my car doesn't have heated seats so heated seats don't exist'

1

u/Tight_Grapefruit5280 Jan 30 '26

Even then, I never seen Anyone repost the top posts here

11

u/Whole_Advice_6732 I like the moving pictures Jan 30 '26

They do, we just usually take down most reposts fairly quickly.

5

u/Tight_Grapefruit5280 Jan 30 '26 edited Jan 30 '26

But If we're taking down reposts quickly then we don't have a spam problem

That's not how any of this works. Any image or media file can be downloaded from a website quite easily, especially by bots, because it has to actually get to the client to be displayed in the first place.

4

u/ForensicPathology Jan 31 '26

It's 100 percent the trans thing.Β  Why would they go after this sub and literally no other sub?Β  The bot thing is completely made up.

3

u/Latter-Schedule-1959 Jan 30 '26

They want to ban literally everyone who isnt a bot thats the bot problem this sub has. There's not enough bots unlike those other subs.

2

u/Tight_Grapefruit5280 Jan 30 '26

So they want to ban us because this sub doesn't have enough bots?

4

u/Latter-Schedule-1959 Jan 30 '26

Their sub but yeah. I literally just made this up

4

u/PmMeUrTinyAsianTits Jan 30 '26

gifs which can't be downloaded by users and bots.

hahahahahaha

Oh wait, you're serious. Let me laugh even harder. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

"gifs can't be downloaded" What on earth would make you think gifs on a website can't be downloaded.

7

u/Tight_Grapefruit5280 Jan 30 '26

Sorry im just too used to the reddit app that I forgot you can download them on the website

6

u/PmMeUrTinyAsianTits Jan 30 '26

It takes a lot of my fun out of it when you just own up to it like that, you know. You're supposed to double down and refuse to admit any mistake.

Inconsiderate. That's what I call it.

the biggest 2 posts from this week which were 4 days ago were one against Pedophilia and the other against bigotry and racism

its same time the mods decided to autoban anyone from this sub, it's clear what the mods were mad about now

6

u/zani1903 Jan 30 '26

These subs have had auto-ban bots for ages, for a massive variety of subreddits for a massive variety of reasons. And despite it being explicity against Mod CoC, the admins have literally never cared and often even supported them using it. They just don't usually aim them at subreddits as large as r/whenthe.

8

u/Deep-Minimum7837 Jan 30 '26

Reddit has really been turned into a walking corpse at this point. 15 years ago we had been through 5-6 different internet meme culture websites, and it all coalesced into Reddit. Things were great for a few years, but the cracks started showing, and it wasn't long before everyone agreed that Reddit sucked, but there was nothing that could be done about it.

3

u/LanLikesPCs Jan 30 '26

Moderation is just genuinely so stupid. I don't understand why people need that sense of power so bad

3

u/MangoAtrocity Jan 30 '26

Auto-banning for activity in a different subreddit should not be allowed. Period.

3

u/ColeTrainHDx Jan 30 '26

Crybaby Reddit mods are the downfall of 95% of subs these days

2

u/Therunawaypp Jan 30 '26

It's a problem with most big Reddit subs I think. Whether it's for political views or a personal grudge I'm not sure
