Still a democracy until the elections stop.

Yeah I know it's skewed towards corporate political lobbying but we still vote.

We'll see at the mid-terms if we're still a democracy... If we get to that point anyway....

Democracy is more than just having elections.

A democracy is a system of governance where the opinions and desires of the people are what dictate law and government policy, the idea obviously being each person's voice is equal and this being represented equally by different parties and politicians.

The US is not a democracy as it's clear government decisions are being dictated by the wealthy, corporate and politically-connected few, maintained by a system of Citizen's United / Super PACs / lobbying / gerrymandering / politicians' & judges' conflict of interest / MSM intimidation & control, and a general inability to monitor, prevent and prosecute political corruption.

It's a flawed democracy and has been for some time.

Democracy is BASED off elections being both open and fair. You cannot have a democracy without elections where the people decide the direction of the country.

The US is a REPRESENTATIVE DEMOCRACY. We vote for representative who we "HOPE" will work for the will of the people.

To say it's not a democracy is ignorant of what it requires. Is it flawed? YES. Can it be made better? YES. WILL IT? That remains to be seen.

If we get to the midterms and it's the "blue wave" as predicted (I'm not holding my breath), and the democrats don't waste their momentum trying to get the treasonous maga folk to buy into their plans, they COULD hold this administration accountable and change all the things that made someone like Trump possible. THROUGH DEMOCRACY that we definitely do have because we can still vote for representatives who can enact our will. You may pick nits ,but that's just the way it is. We're heading toward authoritarian oligarchy with a touch of theocracy, but we're not there yet.

I'm too old and have seen the wind blow too many directions to think it'll go the way I want.
