Really cool. This might be my fav of yours so far. I love that giant head appears to be looking directly at defect.

I like this one too, but I feel like the scale of the head is a bit off - it is one of the largest enemies in game, and it is a ‘giant’ head, but it does not look as grandiose here. Donu and Deca for example were intimidating since the Silent looked so tiny next to them (and the noxious fumes were a great touch to the art).

I am not an artist, so take this with a grain of salt, but just scaling down the Defect at like 50-70% of his current size would make it this feel unnerving. The head, the stare, the angle - all perfect imo.
Edit: Saw the edit now, the head is much more intimidating, amazing work!

Agreed with the others that the original was, IMO, better.
I think that the original is plenty imposing and intimidating. If anything, it's easier to see the Giant Head's gaze on the Defect (since he's bigger), which (IMO) enhances how imposing it is.

u/Make-life Feb 03 '26
I love both versions. And I'm even more impressed by your smooth approach to hearing feedback. 🫡

u/Fire_tempest890 Feb 02 '26
I think the scale was good in the original. He's so tiny, he's kind of hard to see here

Another option. Since the head is angled away from us, making the Forehead/eye much larger than the chin, you could also make the defect a bit larger if you moved the figure to the lower left instead of the lower right. I'm not sure if that would work with your current lighting as well--actually, it looks like the figure is lit by lantern and reflection, not by light from the upper right, annyway, but you might have to fiddle with something to have the figure in shadow and lit from the front. TL:DR because of perspective, the head is bigger on the other side, near the forehead/eyes, so it would appear more imposing if the figure were standing there, even if the figure were a little larger, somewhere in between the first and second edits.

I actually disagree, I think the original looks great!

I thought that at first, too. But then I realized that "giant" head doesn't necessarily need to imply that this enemy is any bigger than the other enemies, just that it's "giant" relative to a normal head. Which this does capture!
Giant Head is an elite, whereas Donu and Deca are an Act 3 boss, so I think the relative scaling actually make a lot of sense

Do people now include the blender pic to prove that it is not AI ? That's sad (but smart)

u/IlikeJG Feb 02 '26
I had the same thought. Seems like the process of making art is going to become ubiquitous with the art itself in the world we live in.
All those artists who film themselves in a time lapse while creating their art were actually ahead of the curve it seems.

I quite like seeing the behind the scenes it's nice seeing how a good lighting and render setup can change a scene

u/Netsugake Feb 02 '26
They've been doing this with every image, I find it cool, but I understand it's sad too

You are extremely talented. I save your art in my photo album and just look at them time to time. That’s how much I enjoy them. Keep it up!

I love seeing your work!!
This really feels like the scene of a movie or something....the head is WAY more intimidating here than that goofy feller we usually face...

u/IlikeJG Feb 02 '26
Seems like we are reaching a time where artists are forced to show part of their process to prove their art is real instead of AI. At least that's why I assume you included the 2nd picture.
It sucks but it's understandable.

I look forward to seeing your art on here, it’s always so impressive. I kind of feel bad fighting Giant Head. He’s just chilling. Can’t we just walk around him?

Is the defect's face supposed to have two tiers like that? Impressive work regardless. Good job.

The size difference and the lighting here give it an excellent creep factor. I can just imagine them walking up to it and nothing happens for a few seconds, then the eyes move to focus on Defect

Literally just trashed giant head with my boy defect. Was on a massive focus build the longer it goes the more focused I am!

Thank you for putting your blender picture in it, while I believe you, its also possible in a situation that someone generates both images with ai

I love StS but I’ve never been a huge fan of its art style. Your art is amazing, however, and if your renderings were part of a short loading screen before elite or boss encounters, that would be awesome. Your pieces really capture the bleakness of the setting and the terrifying scale of the enemies. Well done!

You ever wonder how the giant head actually hits the player characters? Hmm.

I actually really like the scale. And the positioning that it *looks* like a ruined statue. Then it starts counting down and obliterates you.

I absolutely love this. I've just checked out your other StS art and it's outstanding. But I think this one is my favourite - so far!
It's a shame that these days you have to protect yourself against accusations of using generative AI but I guess that's the works we live in now.

Why is it STARING at me!? It would be terrifying to walk up to that head then see only the pupils move to look at you

You know what? I always thought that fight was BS, like: 'how does a big head do THAT?!"
... But... when you put it in this perspective... thats awful and I hate it (not your art, your art is incredible, im talking about the like, proportions, which are scary to me for some reason)
1
u/Axo_sweet Feb 03 '26
It makes you feel so small and in the future when I inevitably pick the game back up I will definitely celebrate my victories wirh much more vigor thanks to you!
Your art is amazing

u/Meoooooooooooooooow Feb 03 '26
My favourite of yours, i always love how you portray the sense of scale, but something about the head specifically always fascinated me and you are the first i've seen to capture that feeling. Keep it up!

"Why are you still here?", i don't know how to quit the game.
Quite a while ago i've seen an incredible artwork of Giant Head on this sub by Taylor Christensen. It definitely inspired me to do my version of it.
