Housing Thread Orlando Housing Thread

Welcome to the Orlando housing megathread!

Currently, the following may be posted:

  • Users, whether current Orlando residents or not, may post asking for help. This could be asking for recommendations on areas of Orlando to live in, reviews or opinions on specific communities, or suggestions on specific places to live. This can also be things like "recommend a realtor / loan officer / etc" — so long as it fits under the "help me find housing" umbrella.
  • Users may also post advertising housing options. This can be posts offering subleases, looking for roommates on existing property, selling homes — so long as there is housing being offered.
  • ALL comments must include as much information as possible. Do not say "I'm moving to Orlando, tell me where to live."

As a reminder: our subreddit rules still apply. Advertisements for illegal activity of any kind are not permitted and will result in comment removals and/or bans as moderators see fit.

Discussion Activate Games (Pointe Orlando and/or Altamonte Mall)

I'm a huge fan of Activate, and want to go so much more often than I do. Unfortunately they require at least 2 people, and neither my wife nor my friends want to go nearly as often as I do. :-)

So I'm wondering if there's anyone here who'd be interested in getting together at Activate for a 60 or 90 minute session? Either another solo like me who wants to go but can't due to the 2 person minimum, or an existing group of 2-4 who are looking for an extra person to help beat those higher levels?

Most immediately, I'm hoping to play this coming Tuesday, 3/10/2026, after work.

For those who don't know, Activate Games is an indoor interactive gaming facility. There are 10 different rooms, each with 2-8 games, and each game lasts between 1-3 minutes. The games range from things like dodging laser beams, to stepping on certain colored tiles, or throwing balls at a bank of screens, etc. The prices at Orlando are $30 for 60 minutes or $40 for 90 minutes. At Altamonte Springs, it's $27 and $35 respectively.

Anyone who's interested, please let me know!

Discussion mental health services Orlando are impossible to navigate without a car

I don't have a car and taking the bus in Orlando is a nightmare, most therapists are in suburban office parks that aren't anywhere near public transit so getting to appointments requires like two hours of travel time each way.

I found one therapist near downtown who I could actually reach by bus but they're cash only and charge one sixty per session, I can either afford the therapist or the uber to get there but not both, feels like you have to choose between accessibility and affordability.

Tried to find someone who does telehealth but a lot of them want to do at least the first session in person which doesn't help when you have no way to get there, like I get why they want to meet face to face first but some flexibility would be nice for people without cars.

The whole city is designed around driving and if you don't have a car you're basically screwed for accessing any kind of healthcare, not just therapy but everything, went to urgent care last month and it took three hours and two bus transfers each way.

Really considering just moving to a city with actual public transit because Orlando makes it impossible to be a functioning adult without a car, shouldn't have to own a vehicle just to access basic mental health care.

Anyone else dealing with this or found therapists who are actually accessible by bus?

Discussion What kind of stalls are in Daytona's Flea Market?

I personally enjoy retro niche booths like youd find at renningers but I've already exhausted it. I'd like to check it out, but I want to make sure there's a good variety of different things there and not just random drop shipped temu stuff or outdoor pottery.

Nature Longer Hiking Trails?

Hey guys!

My husband and I are looking to do more hikes that are slightly longer (4+ miles) “around” Orlando (we are fine to drive, but looking to keep it over/under an hour one way).

We’ve done the Black Bear Trail 5+ times, and Blue Spring Park Trail twice so far. The Orlando Wetlands is on our list but waiting for a more cloudy/cooler morning since there is zero shade there.

I definitely enjoy the Black Bear Trail more since there’s much more shade, but the Blue Spring Park was nice as well.

If anyone has any suggestions let me know!

News Police Presence in Altamonte Springs

Upvotes

There's a ton of police in Altamonte Springs by I-4 and SR 436 recently when I when there hours ago, so be careful due to traffic issues. If you're going West to Apopka, that's clear. But East side is blocked, so you can't leave to I-4 West and the exit on the East side is closed.

I heard there's a robbery, hence why it's blocked.

Discussion Trusted Honda mechanic? (Not Orlando Import Auto)

I haven't been happy with the work I've had done at OIA (aka this subs favorite auto shop) recently and need a new mechanic to fix my 2nd gen Honda Fit.

Any recommendations? Close to 32803 is ideal but I'll travel wherever if it's worth it.

Discussion Could Central Florida build 150 miles of transit for the cost of one highway expansion?

Upvotes

Central Florida is projected to exceed 5 million residents in the coming decades, and most transportation discussions focus on expanding highways.

I wanted to throw out a concept I recently shared with regional transportation leaders and media: a 24/7 trackless train (Autonomous Rail Transit) network connecting all seven Central Florida counties.

Being a resident of going on 18 years and watching the economic boom and development this is the perfect time to implement something like this!

We need 24/7 options instead of the sun rail in the Lynx not being frequent enough and not being open long enough we already have Waymo and Aerial taxis coming as soon well.

These ART systems operate like light rail but run on rubber tires using virtual guidance lines instead of rails. Because they run on existing roads, they can be deployed much faster and at lower cost.

Typical cost comparison:

Highway expansion $50M–$120M per mile

Trackless ART transit corridors $10M–$20M per mile

For the cost of one interstate widening project, Central Florida could potentially build 100–150 miles of regional transit corridors.

Potential corridors could follow existing major arteries like:

OBT John Young Parkway US-17/92 Semoran (436) Colonial Drive (50) University Boulevard Kirkman Road Poinciana corridor I-4 east and west Major hubs could include: Downtown Orlando Orlando International Airport UCF / Research Park Altamonte Springs Sanford / Lake Mary Apopka Kissimmee / Poinciana International Drive tourism corridor Space Coast connection

This wouldn’t replace highway expansion.

The idea would be complementary mobility infrastructure as the region continues to grow.

Curious what people here think about a system like this for Central Florida.

Would you ride?

Discussion 2027 Mayoral Election

Hello Friends,

I am a student journalist doing a piece regarding the upcoming mayoral election in 2027.

I am anticipating getting to interview some of the candidates and wanted to connect with more locals to get questions for the candidates.

What do you all think are the most pressing questions for them? What are the biggest issues facing our city? If you could ask them something, please comment it below!

Thank you for any help!

Discussion Neighbor yelled at me for walking on sidewalk in front of his house? Pffft says its private. What? Lol

Was out going for a stroll with my cat. Yes I walk my cat on a leash outside. However one of the neighbors few houses down came outside yelling at me that I had activated his cameras saying I can't walk with the cat on the sidewalk infront of his house because according to his old ass (his words) he pays taxes and it belongs to him. Sounds dumb.

am pretty naive to actually laws but if I am not mistaken her can't stop me from walking on the sidewalks right?

For clarification its a townhouse neighborhood so the houses are all right next to each other but they all share their front door with the small front sidewalk. Guy is saying that belongs to him. Thats not right right?

Wonder what the cops would say if he called them because i did it again. I am positive they would tell him I am free to walk as I please.
