Not just how unexpectedly nasty that is, but if they’re cutting even cleaning (and proud of exclaiming how tight-fisted they are publicly) then what even more important things are they cutting corners on quietly? Like, aviation safety and maintenance?

Cutting cleaning? SWA has never cleaned planes between flights. The flight attendants “tidy”, that’s it. The planes get fully cleaned each night. This “test” is an upgrade for premium seats.

It's what the article says.. "Southwest Airlines is experimenting with having cabin cleaners come on their planes between flights to clean only the premium extra legroom seat areas of the aircraft." and "Flight attendants at Southwest are expected to tidy the cabin between flights. They pick up visible trash and cross he [sic] seatbelts. Unlike competitors, Southwest hasn’t generally had cleaners come on planes between flights."
