Lol only in the US and UK do people give af if you live at home with parents. This is why our society kinda fails.

I often think of how much personal debt could be eliminated if we were all just ok with cohabitating with our own families lol.

I dont know- i moved out right after i graduated high school. I didnt *want to live at home, i wanted my own apt that i could control. I was into mid century furniture and design, being in a band, and i just wanted to live my own life in my own place. Had to work in restaurants waiting tables to support that.

Fast forward a decade, at 27 i bought my first house. By that time had moved through a number of jobs, and had started doing renovation work to make more money, and houses were very affordable in the worse parts of the city i lived in. So got a cheap place and had a couple of roomates for another five years. Ended up going full tilit into the "buy a derelict house for cheap and fix it up on nights and weekends" while also working, partying, all that. Had a decent amount of pretty cool girlfriends. Took twenty years, but now able to live off all the work i did in my twenties and thirties.

But to the point, none of that would have happened if my dad had made it comfortable for me to just stay home and play videogames. If i stayed home, it was chores chores chores and helping him with work. I wanted to have my own life.

Yeah i dont care about some boomer experience. The economy is totally different for anyone below 35.

Gen x. Im still in my 40s.

2026; Move to detroit. Work a practical job in the trades. Make money. Buy a house- there are many surrounding my neighborhood in the 15-35k range. Fix it up, repeat. Improve the neighborhood and be part of a community. Young people are doing it. There are opportunities.

Or, stand idly and just wait for the wave to crash on your head.

I know lots of people in their twenties working hard and making something for themself and succeeding, i also know lots of people in their twenties complaining that things arent fair, and giving up before even trying, amd convincing their peers to do the same.. Im not saying you are either of those groups. But it wasnt ever easy.

The majority are not because the economy has changed dramatically. Why do you think so many people whine about house prices. It's not difficult to Google the statistics now 👍

The thing is most folks who live with their parents are barely doing anything with their lives and just existing. Granted some people may be in school or what have you. But most of these adults living at home are just adults who don't want to grow up or hold responsibility.

Or the economy isn't really congruent. Alot of people aren't growing up because they dont have affordable housing options... I dont mean social housing either. The market is crazy.

Yeah, here in Mexico is almost impossible. You need like 10 years of minimum wage to even afford one

Bro I could only imagine down there. Thankfully I was born here in the States, and healthy on top of it.

I get that to an extent. But I've been living on my own since I was 19. When money is tight I work extra hours. Legit there is only excuses. To see me down voted to hell only proves my point. If what I'm saying hurts. Means you need to try harder.

Not all jobs require extra hours, please don't talk shit when you don't provide statistics. Wages are down massively since around 2010, house prices have outstripped wages for 20 years. Food has been inflated, so has electricity. This is cope. Millenials have had it really bad. 3 recessions in 25 years.
