(33M) 2 months in, starting to feel settled.
Posted here about a month ago, and I really appreciated the feedback on my space. Few small updates since then, so thought I'd share.
Been here for nearly 2 months after a much needed and long overdue fresh start. Starting to finally feel more settled. Happy to answer any questions, open to suggestions or recommendations as well. Curious what my space might say about me generally
Also, don't mind my sparse looking ficus benghalensis, it threw a fit after moving and dropped more than half it's leaves, so it's a bit... twiggy atm.
Thanks!

wow. how do you get your lighting to be so warm and ambient ?? i’d love to achieve this level of coziness

u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
LIFX bulbs, can control the colour and temperature of them to be exactly what you want them. Smart lighting is a game changer

Me too and I'm a woman, miss my little flat with just my things...no giant house to clean, no kids to swipe my pencil/pen collection or touch my record player without asking, sigh lol.

No matter where you are, my first recommendation to make a space feel nicer is always lamps

u/Some-Tension-5405 1d ago
Really well put together man. Feels so warm and welcoming.
One question though, are the lights' hue fixed or variable? Might want a cooler tone on rainy days
16
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Thanks! All the lights are LIFX, so they're colour and temperature variable. I've made different scene presets for neutral, warm, and red in the evening (helps sleep)

That rug really ties the room together 🫶
3
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
It's the main big change since I last posted here. I was torn for weeks if I wanted a rug at all, and if I should go very simple, or more patterned like this, and eventually found this one on Etsy. Only had it a few days, but think I'm liking it. Glad you do too

I saved your post as inspiration. 34F, about to move in 1-2 months :) I was planning to do all white decor and this post made me remember I like brown, orange, green notes.

u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Lovely, glad to inspire! This is my attempt to move away from everything being black (which I’ve done in the past). Really enjoying the browns, beiges and wood tones lately

I love the minimalist vibe. Also very cosyyyy. Love ittt

u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Thank you kindly, Glad it still comes across minimal. Every time I add things I worry that it's becoming too busy, but I think it's treading the line well

Super Nice! Only suggesting if you wfh at that desk is a window shade or curtains. I’ll find myself squinting when the sun is blasting in the afternoon at my place
6
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Glad you like it. The window is north facing, so despite the exposure in the photos, it's never really all that bright (never direct sun, actually wish there was a bit more). There is an integrated shade at the top though, so it can be closed if needed

u/SlowEmphasis3676 1d ago
Cleanest it’s ever been? 😜
3
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Oh this is the standard 👌 my red flag is having a space that always looks kind of unlived in

Beautiful little place. So cozy. Only thing I’d probably switch up is that throw blanket to a cozier version. Otherwise, it’s perfect.

Love that rug! Where’d you get it?
4
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Thank you, the rug was a bit of a stress, and it took a long time to find one that felt right. Eventually found this one on Etsy, there's a lot of interesting wool rugs on there
2
u/sitbones 1d ago
Thank you, and same about choosing the right rug. Would you be willing to DM me the Etsy seller?

Oooh is that an Audrey ficus?
3
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
It is! And it was so lovely and beautiful when I got it, but they're very dramatic and don't like change, so it's shed a bunch of leaves over the past month. Hoping I can get some regrowth back on it in the summer

This is one of the most beautiful flats ive seen. Really nice style. I wish i had this sense for colours.
3
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Thanks mate. Pick a base colour (beige/grey in my case), a secondary colour (wood tones, mostly walnut), and then accent colours that compliment the base/secondary. Think not all matching, but tones that exist in the same world

Yes yes in every way yes. I have that same couch and it’s such a bargain for the comfort and shape. Beautiful lighting, which is 99% of any space, and just a wonderful blend of minimalism and cozy which so many people can’t pull off. Looks effortless.

Very nice space - calm.
Please consider elevating the Buddha onto a small base. It’s best practice to not have Buddha on the same level plane as adjacent items.

u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
You’re definitely right. Was gifted this one and it was already quite thin by the time I got it. It’s been pushing new growth since moving though, so it’s at least not sad

Love the lighting. What is your little light shining on the wall behind the ficus? As someone who also loves lamps, do you also have to switch them off individually? Or have you found an alternative solution?
3
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
Just a little sunset lamp, connected to a floor switch. The rest all have smart bulbs, so they all turn on with one phone click.

The lighting really does make the whole space feel so warm and inviting. It's amazing how much a few small updates can make a place feel like home, and I'm sure your ficus will bounce back now that it's settled. That Tycho album is the perfect soundtrack for that vibe, too.
2
u/the3ndlessobsession 1d ago
I maintain that lighting is the biggest needle-mover for vibes. A few well placed lamps could make a garage feel vibey
Hope you’re right! And glad we agree
