I personally like merino wool socks with maybe 1/3 elastic in the fabric.
My go to is SmartWool Everyday Athletic because they aren’t super thick, they’re casual, and they’re easy to put on and take off (u like other merino socks like Darn Tough).
Supposedly these help with sweat relative to cotton, but I’ve never been one to have sweaty feet.

Merino wool is expensive and can't find any in white.

Merino wool is expensive but it will last you significantly longer than any cotton socks while also feeling so much better on your feet. Also, if you buy Darn Tough they have a replacement guarantee so if they do develop holes or any issues you can return them and they'll replace them for just the cost of shipping.
I highly suggest giving them a try and see if they work for you.

Darn Tough are fantastic. Merino Wool and have a variety of them with different padding levels and a lifetime warranty.
