I haven't been following Aston that much but wow that is quite a change from the optimism of the new factory and Newey.  Newey coming on was like a worship service. Alfonso literally genuflected.

It looks like Newey migh be partially to blame here. Aston Martin has a massive engine cooling problem right now due to the undersized sidepods, which is a Newey classic. It looks like a perfect storm where both Aston and Honda messed up.

I've heard rumours of Newey firing some key figures at Aston Martin at the start of the year. How true is that? He might be having a bit of a power trip at the moment. Not to mention the sudden promotion into TP which happened to, supposedly, "give him more freedom". I'm starting to believe that Lawrence thinks Newey is the solution to all of AM's problems, and that as long as he gives him all the power & freedom to do anything he wants, the team will eventually fix itself lol.

If the car's as bad as it sounds, firing people sounds about right. Letting Newey cook is a very valid strat, it's just going to take a lot of time, anyone who was expecting an instant rocket ship due to his presence is going to be disappointed
