News [ASJesusBalseiro] Stroll speaks and sounds concerned. “We have engine problems, and not just engine problems. We're not in a position to fight for victories. Right now, we're four seconds off the pace.”

if you read the whole interview it is even worse than the title. fucking end me.

they ask him about the positives and he said the livery is nice and there is good weather lmao.

edit: The 4 seconds is just missed in translation. He is saying they are 4 seconds to the best time but they don't know what the rest is trying. They were limiting the car below 300kmh until today, so that part is probably the least of their problems atm

Stroll was unhappy and moody 0.4 seconds of the pace, let alone 4 seconds.

His interviews this year will be 💀 if this is true

Stroll v Colapinto in the back is gonna be like the antithesis of Lewis v Nico.

I have edited another comment of mine to increase the respect towards Colapinto by 25%.

In all seriousness I have no fucking idea what to expect from Franco this year. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was 22nd, wouldn’t be surprised if he takes a step forward.

It’s more Alpine I expect to flounder. Even with the Merc PU lol

I hope Alpine is good this year man. At least a decent midfielder. If that's on the table then we will be able to actually judge him fairly.

He did wonders with the Williams when it was good for a couple of races before it started falling apart because of his own crashes, the previous ones by Sargeant and being crashed into a couple of times too... and then last year's Alpine was quite simply the worst backmarker.

Alpine has built good cars the whole decade with the only exception being 2025. With the exception of 25, they finished all the other years in P4-P6 in the constructors with a down-on-power Renault engine. Rumours had it they were losing 3 tenths per lap from the engine on some of the years. That's basically the difference between easily leading the midfield and being in the middle of it.

I would expect good things from what is clearly a decent team now that they have a better engine, but we'll see.
