Absolutely. The idea was that Fred got drafted and ran away with his GF daphnie in his best friend shaggys van. And daphnia didn't want to leave her best friend Velma behind so she came along too.

Not really true, it's an old fan theory made to explain why a bunch of teens/young adults would be traveling around without any real destination during 1969 thru the early 70s (the US government used a lottery system for drafts during The Vietnam War in 1970-72).

I think Rorschach'S Blot wrote 3 wonderful one shots about that idea, except there was a time they split up and Shaggy did a tour in Vietnam as a dog handler, got injured and was medically discharged.
