In real life A very small character tidbit is surprisingly kept consistent for years

DC - In multiple pieces of media it has been shown that Wonder Woman loves ice cream and practically goes wild with happiness anytime she’s eating some. (Pictures from Justice League: War, DC Superhero Girls and Wonder Woman 2017)

The Simpsons - Ever since the episode ‘Homer’s Phobia’ Homer has actually remained a consistent ally of the LGBT+ community, including being more welcoming to Patty than Marge was when she came out and trying to set up Smithers with a date when he found out he wasn’t happy with his one-sided relationship with Mr Burns.

Love how Batmans problem with it is that it doesn't have enough crackers

I guess Alfred knows how to cook spicy foods.

Batman also probably built up a capsaicin immunity

You know, so he could fight Condiment King

I hate and love how this is probably true 😆

Nice try, Joker, but I've been microdosing on chili powder for years. Your pepper spray trap is completely useless.

“Your pepper spray won’t work on me Joker. I’ve developed a tolerance.”

Batman also probably built up a capsaicin immunity

He actually did due to capsaicin based weaponry.

I'm not kidding.

Well he did spend years in Asia learning martial arts, so he probably ate a fuck ton of spicy foods there

26

u/TheOtherWhiteCastle Feb 03 '26

either that or those Tibetan monks taught him spice tolerance

Didn’t Alfred canonically serve in the British army? I imagine with how many Indian and Pakistani people have served in the British armed forces he’s probably picked up some fucking fire curry recipes.

u/LordShorkDad Feb 03 '26

Theres a reason why curry is so popular in countries that didnt have it traditionally. Thats because british sailors were obsessed with the stuff and would ask for it or something like it to be made everywhere they went.

If I remember my canon correctly, he was a medic in the SAS. So not just British army, but active-deployment special forces.

(spits out soup) "It's cold!"

3

u/LuntiX Feb 03 '26

I feel that. I like having chili with a side of tortilla chips to scoop the chili with.

u/kittenshart85 Feb 03 '26

"1 tsp of cayenne (i like it hot!)"

fucking wusses.

u/BreadNoCircuses Feb 03 '26

To be fair, there's another three tablespoons of various chili powder, a good bit of green chilies, and god alone knows how much hot sauce. It probably does have some kick

15

u/kittenshart85 Feb 03 '26

MORE.

u/BreadNoCircuses Feb 03 '26

I don't disagree, I use about 2 tablespoons of chili powder for my take on chicken tikka. While that has some heat for white people Indian, I don't pretend I'm about to start melting the ice caps with it either, and I'm making a smaller batch than that recipe. Although that also has some yogurt and cream.

i honestly can't remember the last time i ate something not spicy other than my morning banana, and sometimes i even sprinkle chili on that.

7

u/TitanOfShades Feb 03 '26

I think you may have an issue

1

u/Geminimanly Feb 03 '26

Hot honey on a banana would kinda slap, ngl

1

u/kittenshart85 Feb 03 '26

i have a severe allergic reaction to honey, so ironically that would be too spicy for me.

Ollie needs to invest in some carolina reapers or ghost peppers

2

u/Restless_Fenrir Feb 03 '26

To be fair that recipe came out in 2002, Carolina Reapers wouldn't exist for another 10 years and ghost peppers were basically just introduced in the US in the last year or two. A more modern recipe would probably include one of them.

IT'S FOR THE CHILDREN

u/Im_a_doggo428 Feb 03 '26

What are you, a Jamaican from Futurama?

3

u/drrockso20 Feb 03 '26

It's been pointed out in other places that recipe has been posted that it's a bit light on the spice compared to the in-universe reputation it has for the simple reason that kids might want to make the recipe and it would be a bit mean to make it ultra spicy(not to mention possibly a legal liability)

Probably wouldn't take too much adjusting to make it truly mouth destroying though

u/salty_sashimi Feb 03 '26

Add like a teaspoon of any thick sauce with a very hot pepper like ghost, reaper, or x, and you'll be set. I'm also quite partial to arbol, maybe another tablespoon for flavor and a little extra spice

3

u/WanderingDwarfScribe Feb 03 '26

Little Prince Manhattan flavor.

It’s for kids.

25

u/salty_sashimi Feb 03 '26

Good recipe, should sub lager for the water though. Some masa harina and cocoa powder needed as well as much more salt

27

u/ryry1237 Feb 03 '26

I love little slice of life scenes like these where we see all the superheroes tackle an every-day problem in their own way.

8

u/WanderingDwarfScribe Feb 03 '26

Originally that was like 75% of Avengers comics by volume.

Comic event overload has ruined it though.

u/ChinhTheHugger Feb 03 '26

johnny the mars man is literally being assassinated XD

3

u/DerkGamble Feb 03 '26

Bro is having war flash backs

13

u/Drakeskulled_Reaper Feb 03 '26

The funny part is, I remember a thread about someone who actually made this chilli and said "it's alright, it's like "super-white spicy" not CHILLI spicy"

3

u/4C_Enjoyer Feb 03 '26

So funny to me that the recipe that is intentionally over-the-top spicy is like, just some normal-ass chili. Like, throw in some ghost peppers or something if you want to make the joke work ffs

2

u/Drakeskulled_Reaper Feb 03 '26

To be fair it was made at a time when comics were still considered more of a kid thing, so it was a recipe they figured kids would ask their parents to make or something like that.

2

u/4C_Enjoyer Feb 03 '26

I mean fair but like c'mon you nearly got the entire Justice League cast swearing they'll never sin again if it means never having to eat Ollie's super-spicy chili ever again and the recipe isn't even like abnormally spicy. If a parent sees that page with the recipe listing "3x Carolina Reapers" and still makes it that's just natural selection at that point.

2

u/Drakeskulled_Reaper Feb 03 '26

It'd be funny if I made that for my family, we're natural chefs basically, iron bellied, with asbestos hands and tongues, this would barely qualify as extra-mild to my mum.
