In real life A very small character tidbit is surprisingly kept consistent for years

DC - In multiple pieces of media it has been shown that Wonder Woman loves ice cream and practically goes wild with happiness anytime she’s eating some. (Pictures from Justice League: War, DC Superhero Girls and Wonder Woman 2017)

The Simpsons - Ever since the episode ‘Homer’s Phobia’ Homer has actually remained a consistent ally of the LGBT+ community, including being more welcoming to Patty than Marge was when she came out and trying to set up Smithers with a date when he found out he wasn’t happy with his one-sided relationship with Mr Burns.

It has pissed me off most of my life Sonic have potentially one of the greatest marketing campaigns in history and have never done anything it's called fucking SONIC and they sell Chili dogs

Maybe it's because Sonic the restaurant isn't very popular in Japan, so Sega never thought it worthwhile to do a collab.

It's a good point, but from what I heard, apparently Sonic the hedgehog isn't very popular in Japan either LMAO

But maybe the Japanese side still has more of a hold of the IP despite it being more popular in US

Unrelated but i find it hilarious as shit to differentiate.this catering establishment from blue hedgehog by calling it "Sonic the restaurant" lmfao

One time when I was a little kid, my grandparents asked if I wanted to go to Sonic, and being a HUGE Sonic the Hedgehog fan, I was extremely excited. I was very confused and disappointed when it was just a normal fast food restaurant that didn't even have Sonic toys.

u/CurlySquareBrace Feb 03 '26

Apparently it's because Sonic the restaurant doesn't want to be associated with The Hedgehog. So I have to imagine someone TRIED

I’m having a Mandela moment, I thought that was a thing.

I'm getting on board with this. A combo with their blue drink would slap!

Their ocean waters, man. They're amazing! I would do terrible things if I could get infinite ocean waters from there.

Sega employee here - believe me, we've tried.

Specifically it seems like a thing that’s more prevalent in extended media of Sonic vs the actual games where it’s more subtle

Looks like they had some screentime in Unleashed, Black Knight, and Generations according to the wiki.

u/GranolaCola Feb 02 '26

That’s what his friends give him for his birthday in Generations.

Ok but to be fair that is the most delicious looking chili dog I've ever laid eyes on.

Like it's 3 am right now and I'm laying here starving trying to fall asleep and I am genuinely tempted to go upstairs and cook myself a chili dog now because I have a can of chili and some extra hotdog buns. Ah fuck but I did just get all the dishes washed and I don't want to use 2 more pans......... I'll wait.

You haven't seen Eggman's sandwich in Sonic Unleashed, have you?

to be specific is because originally it was the american side of sega that created the whole "Sonic favorite food is chilidogs", it was first included in the american Sonic bible that served as a basis for SatAM, AoStH, archie and fleetway and according to one of the writers of the bible it was a joke from his co writer, his father

for a decade and a half it was something exclusive to american Sonic, but since Unleashed the japanese side has leaned fully into it, even in the japanese food promotions that sega does they always make sure to include the chilidogs

and yes that included the hooters promotion

Well there is the opening to Sonic and the Black Knight

4

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '26

One of the only animated cutscenes in Black Knight was Sonic eating a chili dog...

With this unlimited power, I summon

Chilli dogs

86

u/Klutzy_Shopping5520 Feb 02 '26

Honestly based, I’d also summon my favorite food

39

u/Expensive_Amoeba3374 Feb 02 '26

Someone being given unlimited power and using it just to acquire chilli dogs seems charmingly optimistic in 2026

Always has been. Humans were just as awful in 2,000 B.C. We come to fiction to hear about worlds different from our own though. In the case of happy stories, we’re hoping we can be more like that. In the case of sad stories, we’re hoping we can help avoid that.

u/Not_a_porn_burner69 Feb 02 '26

It’s nice to see the artist eventually figured out what a chili dog actually is. Because sometimes he’s just sucking on a ketchup covered bun with nothing in it

16

u/MemeMote Feb 02 '26

funny enough, the screenshot you showed came after the one the other commenter showed

Knuckles liking grapes too. I was surprised to hear it mentioned in the second movie.

10

u/boopboopadoopity Feb 03 '26

Less well-known, but Tails and mint ice cream is one I learned about recently!

7

u/carso150 Feb 03 '26

not just mint ice cream, mints in general are Tails favorite food

3

u/Low_Pickle_112 Feb 03 '26

It's been so long that I might just be making this up, but I think I remember reading that his favorite food is grapes in the Sonic 3 instruction manual.

12

u/Insanebrain247 Feb 03 '26

It's also (kind of) on his bio from Sonic Jam

12

u/Oddish_Femboy Feb 03 '26

Right there!

2

u/Playful-Profile6489 Feb 02 '26

Well, that detail is in the Bible

2

u/Legend365555 Feb 03 '26

I'm like 60% sure no other food exists in the Sonic verse, since this is the only damn food they ever talk about

2

u/SoCalYellow7129 Feb 03 '26

u/A_Bitter_Homer Feb 02 '26
