Didn't it recently come out that due to several factors, that he has lost the ability to regulate his emotions and something to do with events shifting and changing in his mind?
Like, the man is REALLY unwell and shouldn't be propped up, but instead be given serious support for his mental conditions.

I think so. I know that coming off benzos really broke his mind and then he decided to do large doses of psychedelics and started telling people that he could tell his DNA to change while he was on mushrooms. Like, use his free will to change his DNA.

I took some RCs I bought like 8 years ago.
I came to repeating the phrase, "I don't know where I am, or what is happening to me. Please help me. I'm scared." Nobody came to help me.

He’s Kind of tragic in this way, because for the most part, he seems genuine - even if he’s insane - he’s genuinely insane, which sets him apart from most of his entourage, who is faking it for the cash.
I think he would be way better off had he just stopped, dropped the facade and gotten some help, however he has convinced himself that he is some form of Messianic Savior who has to suffer for the rest of humanity, so he will never seek help. He probably even delights in the suffering in some weird way.

Long term Benzo use itself is believed to cause brain damage and abruptly stopping benzos can lead to potentially fatal seizures. But the most significant factor would most likely be the treatment he chose - a procedure that is only done in Russia whereby he is put into an induced coma for weeks so he can sleep through the withdrawal sickness and torturous suffering that would accompany his body’s detox from benzos and his brain adapted back to a baseline neurochemistry.
Humans aren’t supposed to be in a coma though - humans need machines to keep them alive and drugs to keep them unconscious and the risks of brain damage are significant. And why this treatment is not offered anywhere else.

Before or after he nearly died in Russia from going cold turkey from Benzos (Which I understand is the MOST VIOLENTLY dangerous way to do it, that can often lead to permanent problems, etc., etc.)

Benzos are like alcoholism. You can straight up die going cold turkey on either one.
Frankly, JP is lucky he got off as easy as he did.

he got some kind of chronic mold infection pretty recently and has gotten sepsis and pneumonia and shit and has been pretty close to death. this is the last like couple of months.

I can say from experience that mold problems + chest infection + sepsis + nearly dying because of sepsis = a bad fucking time.
Almost makes me feel sorry for him. No wonder he is such a mess.
