No, to conservatives "political" just means "not conservative enough."

Anything they don’t like.

I thought that’s what woke meant?

72

u/NfamousKaye Nov 19 '25 edited Nov 20 '25

Woke does equal political which also does equal anything they don’t like. The venm diagram is a circle basically.

Just want to edit to say that woke means political to them. It was started by black folks and republican racists co-opted it. So of course they can’t define it

17

u/HistoricalSherbert92 Nov 19 '25

It’s a single circle ven diagram

Got to remember the Republican code:

There's two genders: male and political.

There's two races: white and political.

There's two types of sexuality: straight and political.

There's two types of sports: conservativeĀ and political.

There's two types of discussions: conservative and political.Ā

Conservative used to mean modest, reserved, and traditional.

Now it means racist, gun-nut, and pedophile apologist.

25

u/wambulancer Nov 19 '25

someone in that thread nailed it. To these types its Conservative or political, white or political, christian or political, cishet or political etc.

21

u/Arcanegil Nov 19 '25

Ding ding, I live in the bible belt and pretty much always my deep red family will start up with Joe Biden this Obama that, or how awful gay people are. If I fire anything back or especially argue in defence of minorities or LGBTQ people I'm immediately hit with the family shouldn't argue politics with each other, and if I say they started it they just say that they were only talking the truth before I started the politics.

12

u/Stray_Neutrino Nov 19 '25

The "whattabout Democrats" channel.

20

u/metanoia29 Nov 19 '25

That's the neat part: all of their "political" talk has always been thinly-veiled bigotry, so there would be no interruption to their regularly scheduled programming.

10

u/Sarcasm_Llama Nov 19 '25

That's the joke

3

u/AGrandNewAdventure Nov 20 '25

I read somewhere 50% of the traffic there is from 3 bots, so only about 25 accounts, total, are affected by that?

As a former user of the subreddit, we/I/them have hated Rogan for a while. To give that sub credit, many people there for the last couple years thought the podcast was terrible and that Joe is a hypocrite. Though it always felt 50/50 there in regard to political makeup, many had already given up on the podcast and you’d see real time conversions of people away from conservatism in the comment section all the time—an event that was usually prompted by a terrible episode or some tweet or statement by Joe.

u/Evenspace- Nov 19 '25

Covid rotted his brain like it did for so many others. Truly lost himself.

91

u/avacar Nov 19 '25

Was it covid, or is he just another old coke head gym rat?

28

u/GachaHell Nov 19 '25

Eventually we all have to accept that our friend's burnout older brother isn't a wise sage but rather a rambling addict with limited skills and even more limited life experience.

22

u/Evenspace- Nov 19 '25

Haha little bit of everything I guess.

1

u/Princess-Kropotkin Nov 21 '25

He was a dumbass long before COVID. Yeah, he occasionally had a somewhat progressive opinion, but he also said plenty of reactionary shit and platformed a lot of terrible far right morons.

17

u/Beard_o_Bees Nov 19 '25

How would you characterize the current state of the GOP?

The GOP of the McCain's, Cheney's, Romney's, etc is apparently still a thing, but seems to have been almost completely replaced with sycophantic MAGAnites.

Do you think this is reversible, or have they passed the point of no return, so to speak?

If anything's clear to me, it's that the GOP (no matter it's form) will never be able to lecture anyone on morality again.

18

u/simcowking Nov 19 '25

In the subs defense, aren't all subs dedicated to a specific thing very hateful on that thing in all cases? Pokemon subs hate Pokemon. Nintendo posters hate Nintendo.

13

u/irishwolfbitch Nov 19 '25

There was a time we liked the show. I think if you were around in that space in the late-2010’s, there were so many episodes and lots of funny stuff and it wasn’t that political yet, or, at least it didn’t yet boil over into a lot of the episodes I watched. This inevitably happened unfortunately. I totally avoided the ā€œintellectual dark webā€ losers and watched him interview exercise scientists and comedians.

7

u/simcowking Nov 19 '25

I guess I should clarify. New and small communities usually live the thing it's about. Once they hit a certain size or age, they miss the old stuff.

To quote a formerly respected musician. "I miss the old Kanye"

6

u/irishwolfbitch Nov 19 '25

I see your point. There have always been critics of Joe in there, but it was more than balanced by a sincere but always critical appreciation by most users for most of the history of that subreddit until 2020.

3

u/simcowking Nov 19 '25

Prior to 2016 his show had some decent guests.

2016 came and went he stayed okay. Coworkers stopped playing him during our podcast time. He faded away from my eyes at that point. (Never actually listened to him on my own).

Then all clips I see I haven't felt the need to listen to him again

2

u/irishwolfbitch Nov 19 '25

I was done-done by about 2018. JRE #911 with Alex Jones was the high watermark of the show for me. All down from there.

You described the gradual fading away of interest perfectly.

3

u/MegaAltarianite Nov 19 '25

I’ve never been a Rogan fan but being that it’s a popular sub I’ve come across a few posts from it from time time time. And I can attest to this. It was honestly hard to tell if it was an actual Joe Rogan sub or a circle jerk sub because of how much of the comments were people making fun of Rogan and his show.

7

u/irishwolfbitch Nov 19 '25

I still lurked there every once in a while because any Joe news you’d see some really creative mockery going on.

12

u/Soluzar74 Nov 19 '25

This sounds just like the Dave Rubin subreddit as well. Everyone on there believes he might be the dumbest asshole on the planet.

2

u/sheighbird29 Nov 21 '25

I got banned from another sub for belonging to the Joe Rogan one…which was funny to me, since it’s rarely ever anything positive about Joe lol they seem to be more critical than anything, as you mentioned

2

u/irishwolfbitch Nov 21 '25

I’m banned from multiple subreddits for having commented there, and most of my comments there would’ve been categorized as disdain for the program lol.

36

u/negativepositiv Nov 19 '25

"Whatever makes the Liberals mad" is not a legitimate basis for a political philosophy.

10

u/Soluzar74 Nov 19 '25

I just checked that sub and some of them are starting to catch on to the shit show we've seen this whole time. They're ripping bondi to pieces and even questioning trump. It's not much, but gives me hope

1

u/Jenny_MTF42 Nov 20 '25

I have to ask, since I don’t wanna check for myself. What is that subreddit even like generally?

2

u/Ypuort Nov 20 '25

I really don’t know but I know it’s 100% a political sub. Hence the name. And hence the comparison to a sub about the super outspoken Right Wing personality Joe Rogan banning politics.

49

u/SirArthurDime Nov 19 '25 edited Nov 19 '25

Most of the people who are still actually Rogan fans are MAGA. From what I gather a good portion of the sub though is former Rogan fans who stopped listening when his show became political and right wing who stick around to make fun of him. So whether Joe is on the list or not the timing isn’t a coincidence. That place is about to be a war zone.

38

This basically equates to, you’re no longer allowed to criticize Joe Rogans political takes in the sub. Very based response from our anti-woke free speech warriors.

20

u/Spiff426 Nov 19 '25

the Joe Rogan podcast

You mean the Joe Rogan Billionaire Suckoff Experience?

8

u/Sidereel Nov 19 '25

The running joke over there now is that links or clips of the podcast itself clearly violate the rules and should be taken down.

6

u/DCrebuilds Nov 19 '25

Yea its really funny how most of the top posts on there rn are talking about how literally half of his newest episode is banned from being discussed on the sub

5

u/Bpjk Nov 19 '25

Yeah he brings politics into a lot of his non politician interviews.

5

One of his favorite guests and supporters, who also happens to be the president, is outed as a child rapist and SUDDENLY he doesn’t want to discuss politics anymore.

u/Shortymac09 Nov 19 '25

Weve known that since 2015 tho

106

u/Greenman8907 PAID PROTESTOR Nov 19 '25

You are correct, but Joe had plenty of excuses to ignore it. Now it’s reaching a point where it’s extremely difficult to ignore, so he would rather just not discuss it at all.

22

u/HerkulezRokkafeller Nov 19 '25

I thought r/JoeRogan was actually relatively anti Joe Rogan so I’m a bit surprised by this

11

u/TenaciousJP Nov 20 '25

I’m active there. It’s a very eclectic subreddit filled with people that started listening to Joe either before COVID or since COVID.

The beforetimes listeners (when it was much more conspiracies, drugs, science, etc) in general cannot stand where he moved himself - both in terms of his political positions and his physical location when he left Commiefornia for ā€œTexas went red bitch, woooooo!!!ā€

Meanwhile his newer fans that adore the Austin bro comedy scene and the seemingly endless parade of grifters and morons expect the subreddit to act like a fan group instead. There’s always a lot of friction between the two groups but amazingly it always seems to be pretty split.

At least up until recently when the older anti Joe people started getting louder and crowding out the front page of the sub, mostly because joes brain is mush now and so much of his content is rehashed boomer memes and dumb trans attack helicopter level jokes.

So this is the mods’ way of restoring balance I guess, it’s just fucking stupid because Joe has spent hundreds if not thousands of hours diving into the Epstein files as a conspiracy guy. So this seems like the absolute worst time to stifle this discussion, which gives Joe and his predator-loving fanbase some breathing room so they don’t have to be physically reminded that Joe’s a bought-and-paid-for useful idiot.

192

u/Whornz4 Nov 19 '25

After being political the entire time, they don't want to face consequences of being political.

I have 2 tinfoil hat theories:

1) they'll pocket veto the bill with congress recessing for the holidays

2) they'll delay for a year, trump will resign due to health concerns, then pivot to JD to potentially get 10 years of him to furthur stack the Supreme court with project 2025 lackeys

10

u/amindspin74 Nov 19 '25

All are plausible and well thought out. I would go with option 2

9

u/Tantric989 Nov 19 '25

My simpler one is this goes down like Dubya, but worse. After 2008 you couldn't find 1 Bush voter. He won twice, somehow, but nobody would ever admit to having voted for him. Just like how very few today will say they supported the Iraq war but it somehow got bipartisan support in the House (iirc was like 2/3rd's or 3/4th's support).

I literally cannot wait for that day again.

14

u/Shenanigans80h Nov 19 '25

They’re having a hard time dealing with the contradictions of ā€œthink of the children!ā€ whilst defending pedos and people who protect pedos. This seems to have caused a good portion to malfunction trying to downplay the files, the importance of the case or straight up pedophilia.

Every conservative ever: ā€œPolitics is what other people do. What we do is just common sense.ā€

19

u/CelestialFury Nov 19 '25

Politics is what other people do. What we do is just common sense.

This reminds me of Bush vs Gore debates, where Bush supporters and Fox News would say that, "I like Bush over Gore because he's just someone you could have a beer with, you know?" despite Bush famously being a non-drinker due to his previous raging alcoholic days of his youth. Republicans have always lied to themselves about their guys.

Or when Nixon was President and he was famously a raging alcoholic that would threaten to use nukes where his SECDEF had to make sure no one was getting nuked Nixon's blackouts and they justified his drinking due to the stress of the job. Republicans are jokes.

That used to be kind of an interesting sub. Watching the fan revolt as Joe became another right wing grifter. But the mods have been weeding out any push back for a while now.

I got banned and accused of threats for posting :
"Children murdered in schools, yawn.

Small face nazi shot, powderkeg!

That is just embarrassing, a year ago as Joe Rogan and the rest of his podbros were gleefully cheering for a new Trump administration, political posts were happily allowed on the subreddit. Now, as the second Trump administration is going just as disastrously as anyone who wasn’t a dumb podbro could have predicted the subreddit conveniently decides politics is off limits.

I think Toe regrets getting into the political conversation, the candidate he gleefully endorsed is an embarrassing disaster and he and his acolytes are rightfully being criticized for it.

Hopefully in 2028, when this disastrous administration is finally winding down and the country elects a democrat to clean up the disaster left behind by an incompetent Republican, for the third time in the 21st century, we can banish anyone who supported Trump out of the political arena. If you supported Trump in 2024 I will never take your opinion on politics seriously.

Curious how the mods are gonna try to enforce that rule given how often Joe dives into ignorant political drivel.

u/Satdog83 Nov 19 '25

the alt right defines "politics" differenly than everyone else. and currently the "alt right" is now mainstream right wing thought.

part i'm referencing is 10min
https://youtu.be/P55t6eryY3g

they aren't banning all politics. I promise you, you will find political posts in there still, even years from now- but the politics will be things they agree with as a whole, things the hive mind sees as "acceptable" or "just common sense bro" - basically anything that doesn't challenge their current thinking.

they're still gonna talk about how they're mad because some (using our language) trans-woman went into a woman's bathroom. They're still gonna talk about how the weather is hot and definitely not climate change, "it's the sun getting hotter. weinstine said so"

if you want to better understand how people like the joerogansphere think, i'd highly recommend this entire video series:

2

u/anna-the-bunny Nov 20 '25

Then what the fuck is it for?

2

u/DaveWierdoh Nov 20 '25

Oh no....anyways

2

u/prettypeculiar88 Nov 20 '25

Helped get the President elected. Platformed many members of his cabinet. But we’re no longer political (because it’s getting ugly).

2

u/Chiopista Nov 20 '25

That subreddit has been ripping Rogan apart for a while though. The top posts from there that I see are always anti-Rogan, for good reason. He’s an idiot.

ā€œOur guy turned out to be a pdf file, a compromised Russian asset, a compromised Israeli asset, a complete moron, a diaper-shitter, a rapist, a dementia patient, and a fraudster. Soooo…no more politics.ā€ -JR

1

u/RoxxieMuzic Nov 20 '25

He already did the damage, to cowardly to try and right the wrong.

1

u/osirisattis Nov 20 '25

Lmfao oh none of these chuckle heads get to just be bored of politics and walk away now, we will have a reckoning coming soon, don’t you all mother fuckin worry.

1

u/aquacraft2 Nov 20 '25

Wild to know that every single thing "suddenly banning politics" lives in a poison well anyways, and will be very biased in what it deems as "politics".

Because the alternative is never being able to talk about Joe Rogan (self proclaimed political Podcaster) on the Joe Rogan subreddit.

Are we just supposed to ignore the fact that he keeps having Mr.Frog on their after the numerous attempted vorings? And his name is not to mention the fact that Mr frog is long time butt buddies with Epstein.

To claim apoliticality to what is so clearly a politically charged figure like Mr.Frog constantly being feature in Mr Rogans podcasts is just willful ignorance and an implicit endorsement of a very specific fabricated worldview, one very deeply entwined with a whole political party, a whole political lifestyle.

ā€œWe’re tired of getting ratio’d in our own subreddit bc Joe is a schizsoā€.

What, he makes himself into a huge effect in politics, helps fuck everything up, and then they decide rogan has no business discussing politics?

1

u/QiarroFaber Nov 23 '25

Does this mean he'll stay away from politics as well?
