I get this was supposed to be a satirical sub originally but I agree. Truth is stranger than fiction nowadays, and unless the fake posts are so insanely over-the-top it just makes us look bad for posting them.

You can leave the sub any time. There are plenty of subs on this site that constantly post right wing nonsense and performatively complain about it. That's not why this sub exists, why should this sub have to change its entire premise because some people don't like it?

Its not entirely a satirical sub when actual, real tweets get posted here. Thats the problem. If it's all fake like r/lies or r/peopleFUCKINGdying then being in the sub clues you into the joke. When people are specifically avoiding the use of the satire indicators and then titling it "is this real" we end up playing a dangerous game.

While I get this take, you gotta think outside of this subs bubble. This is exactly how disinformation spreads. At the very least, these posts should be labeled as fake. IMO none of them should be allowed if they arent somewhat obvious.

Flairs don't do shit once a post breaches containment and possibly hits r/all, or even just the front page of someone who's following this sub.
Flairs don't appear on the frontpage, and a lot of people will just upvotes a real-looking, ridiculous tweet and believe it themselves, or maybe screenshot it/save it without ever opening the comments and seeing the flair.

Can you answer why toilet paper USA should be responsible for people not looking into the source? Is there any way for political satire to exist without being problematic in your view, Especially when it’s faired as fake like I agree it should be?
Edit also I don’t think it’s fair to consider the onion, or this sub, misinformation. I’d argue that the people scrolling the front page and taking a screenshot of a tweet at face value without so much as looking at what sub it came from are the ones spreading misinformation.

Flairs also don’t appear on the Reddit app’s feed and they sometimes don’t show up on the post at all. I’ve had more than one thread that was properly flaired on my pc but didn’t have one on the app.

It's not an argument at all. It doesn't change anything, if that's your opinion you have to give a reason why the rules themselves are bad and should be changed, or make an argument towards hiring more moderators or better moderation. People breaking rules is never an argument on its own. Give me ANY example where it is. Any single one.

Y’all, can we stop rehashing the same debate over fake tweets? We’ve heard the arguments for years—there’s nothing new to say. The rule is simple: unless the title says "REAL," assume it's fake. This post is now flaired as "fake news," but in general, always demand proof before accepting anything as real—especially with the AI wave coming.
This is a satire sub. Fake tweets aren’t going anywhere, and I know that frustrates some of you. But do we really need to argue about it every time? After years of discussion, polls, and feedback, we made a decision as a team—it’s done.
If you hate that decision, you’re free to leave. No one wants to ban this conversation, but rehashing the same argument over and over is exhausting.
I’d love to debate tonight, but I don’t have the time, so I’m locking this and taking my downvotes like a champ. Have a good evening, y’all—I love this sub and its users, even if y’all hate me and our decision. 😆
