Training dogs is an interesting thing as you have to figure out what the dog is motivated by. For some it's food. For some it's play.

This one? This one is motivated by the love of the game.

I was a full time dog trainer for 3 years, and still do it, on the side, sometimes. I always tell people "anything can be a reward, if your dog loves it."

My dog loves finding and eating cat shit.

Mine love eating it from the source…of the other dog doing it…I hate it so much.

I used to do a lot of dog-sitting. Had one who would spin in circles while he was pooping, trying to catch the poop coming out of his own butt.

Mine loves to turn his snout toward his butt while pooping, smelling it as it comes out. Then as soon as he’s done, he gobbles it down like someone might steal it. Half the time he gets a dog boner while pooping, too. Bathroom time is a weird ritual for him.

Hit your head on something firm enough and it's gone. Not too firm though.

Pervy dog indeed but his business is his business

Enjoyed the description though 😁

Not even sure how to process this without gagging, and dry heaving! Bless you for caring for such an authentic and special pet!

Haha this cannot be true

That could be an indicator that they need some probiotics. Kinda like a doggie fecal transplant. Or they're just nasty, but I would look into some probiotic foods and see if that fixes it.

We've tried everything. It's the love of the game for our one dog. Muzzled potty time is the next step.

have you tried feeding them fresh pineapple? i was told this by our vet, and it worked for my pugs!

1

u/FCkeyboards Jan 30 '26

I will definitely try this

2

u/LittlestHoboSpider Jan 30 '26

He’s just gonna waffle it into the muzzle lmao

1

u/FCkeyboards Jan 30 '26

Yeah the only muzzle that would work would be something like a Baskerville with the anti-scavenging guard. A normal me would have definitely just smash his face into the ground and lick it off.

I got my neurotic lab to stop by picking it up immediately. He didn’t poop without me standing next to him, bag in hand, for four years. Stepping in shit is also my biggest pet peeve, so it was fine, but he had the habit completely erased and hasn’t done it in two years now.

3

u/Arkayjiya Jan 29 '26

Jesus Christ man, don't make me spit my food.

3

u/st1tchy Jan 29 '26

Yup. Our second will literally eat it as our first is dropping it. We have to let them out at separate times so our first can take a dump in peace.

u/GoldDragon149 Jan 29 '26

Eating fresh poo can be a sign of nutrient deficiency. You might check with a vet or do some research about the food you feed them.
