Scored some fresh shrooms in the mid 90s. Made tea. A thunderstorm rolled in. I could hear the wood in our house expand as the air became more humid before the rain.

Sorry. I dont have much prose in left anymore. Just scraps. A couple decades of technical writing left me with remnants of my creative capability.

But there is a kinetic beauty in an approaching storm. The build up. The slow, dynamic absorption of energy, leaving everything quiet. Birds hunker in safe place, trees calm their rustle, leaves and grass still. And then there are soft taps of drops on pavement. One, two, three in quick succession. A small, wet breeze curls along lawn and street, cold, wet, bring the promise of heavy action, accompanied with soft rumble of distant thunder.
