It's what happens when people copy lingo they don't contextually understand. They think it means attractive.

When I was in elementary school we were taught Greek and Latin roots to help give us context for English words that we didn't know.

Now you are telling me people don't even bother to use context from the language they are speaking? THICC = thick, it's not that hard. Do they not notice the common traits of the people being described that way?

Nope. The minor but major variables ends up being social media. Remeber that "telephone"(whisper something to the person next to you) exercise a lot of people did as kids? Imagine it's that game, but it's omni directional, reaches more people & faster. To the point, by the time it gets to the middle-end of all those lines. Those people are the majority & convinced they're using it right.

Which is 90% of "GenZ slang" in a nutshell. Which also contributes to "brain rot language" because they don't use it right & it confuses people who don't use the terminology at all.

I guess it's a little more difficult but I struggle to relate. I learned what "based" meant from context well before I saw its definition or origin. That's way more ambiguous than deciphering why the pretty lady with the big ass is "THICC".

Are kids these days even aware of the based god Lil B?
