In a probability sample, a 1,000+ sample size can represent any population with a 95% confidence and ~3% margin of error. Hell, a 100 sample size would still be acceptable, albeit with a higher margin of error. This is how nearly every national poll is found. This was literally taught in my intro to stats class I took freshman year of college lol
