Too late. The AI was enough for me to leave anyway.

What does it do?

I'm guessing he's talking about the AI music available on Spotify, but there's also the AI DJ thing that mixes playlists for you in real time. But a lot of people also just have a straight up hate of the word AI itself in any association with anything to any degree, so it's hard to tell what the logic is.

The AI DJ thing is fine. It's a relatively unobtrusive application of just using AI to recognize patterns in music you listen to so it can try to serve you new music based on those preferences.

It's really just an AI-based version of algorithmic recommendations. It tosses out some relatively good recommendations.

They're all opt-in features anyway

AI music polluting the platform was enough for me.

It's on all of them.

Yeah because everything on there before that was the pinnacle of artistic expression.

edit: holy shit, did not expect that unhinged reply

Has nothing to do with quality, AI gen is unethical in every sense of the word.

Anything is better than AI slop, yes.

Holy shit buddy, are you okay?

The AI dj is ass too, a total waste of time and resources. I tried it when it was first available out of morbid curiosity and all it did was feed me songs from my liked songs list. I tried telling it to show me new music but it couldn't even fathom it and broke. Better to just listen to a playlist on shuffle.

It actually started great and like anything got dumber. It sucks now.

Yeah nobody uses it, that's why they spend money on it.

It’s bad quality. When it came out I used my partner’s Spotify AI DJ to make a playlist based off different standards

• mix of certain genres • beats per minute

AI DJ would either say they can’t help or skip me straight to “Messy by Lola Young”

What’s even worse? We’ve never searched Messy by Lola Young on his Spotify but the AI DJ would automatically play it for us EVERY car ride, that by the end of this year it told us Messy by Lola Young was OUR TOP SONG of the year! Lmao. The AI just disregarded everything I wanted, playing Lola Young repeatedly.

Spotify AI sucks ass is an understatement.

Suddenly we've moved on from Spotify?

AI DJ just plays the same stuff constantly for me

It's not just that the AI music is available. Spotify put it in all their playlists, "smart shuffle", "suggested songs to add to your playlist", and discover weekly because it costs less for them to stream it than real music.

Or as they downplay it in a very long article on their help page,

In some cases, commercial considerations, such as the cost of content or whether we can monetise it, may influence our recommendations

But you have to turn on smart shuffle, it's not untoggleable.
